How can I remove the gaps in my teeth without the use of expensive braces. If there's no possible way then where can I find good but cheap braces. I am tired of not being able to smile in front of my friends and girls because it's just embarrassing.
View 5 RepliesI'm 19 years old and I have roughly about 0.7 - 1mm under-bite. My orthodontist recommended me to get jaw surgery or braces. I've heard that jaw surgery takes a long period of time for recovering, and plus, it's expensive. And for braces, I worry that they might not be able fix my teeth into the right positions, but I'm more convincing to it.

View 1 RepliesI just got braces on as an adult two days ago. During our initial consultation, I was told I would need to get extractions at some point because of overcrowding. For the record, I already have all 4 wisdom teeth out. My orthodontist said that it could happen sometime after I get the braces on, but didn't specify when and forgot to ask him. At first he said he would probably have all the second premolars extracted. I brought up my concerns that, because I only had 2 molars and second premolars back there anyway since my wisdom teeth were gone, and because I had a crown on one side that did not chew very well from being dull with many bite adjustments, I asked if we could extract the 1st premolars instead (or as he called them, the eye teeth). He got back to me and said he thinks we can do that. Quite frankly, I don't want any teeth removed but if it's absolutely necessary, which ones would be the best to get removed? Also, when would be the best time to do it at this point?
View 6 RepliesI should preface this with the fact that I've had my braces on for close to half a year and I just started having this problem a few days ago. My braces create an meme sting metallic taste in my mouth. It has been nonstop since around three days ago. I made an appointment today to see my orthodontist and I was told that no bands were loose (most of the bad taste, as much as I can tell, comes from the metal brackets that are banded around my teeth) and nothing was found.
I got some mints but the relief is only temporary to the metal taste.
My daughter is 10 and it is very obvious she would need braces. But she is also modeling and acting so I would need something that could be removed for the shoots or not be visible. I know about the Invisalign but I was wondering if there are any other options.

My mom is compelling me to go for metal braces as she thinks they are better than the invisalign invisible braces. I prefer invisalign braces because I don’t want others to notice my braces. I think both the braces works same. Can anyone tell me the difference between invisalign braces and normal braces?

View 2 RepliesI'm 24 years old and my teeth and quite badly grinded down, my whole life I have been grinding my teeth have just never been able to stop, it was much worse when I was younger and in my teenage years but I still can't help but do it. To make things worse I have been looking for a partner recently due to being alone pretty much my whole life and I feel like I will never find somebody having teeth like this, they are straight and don't have big gaps or anything but a fair bit is missing. I did all this damage to myself as a kid when I was too stupid to know better and try harder and now I may be alone forever I feel so ugly, I'm not exactly attractive anyway. The insecurity and worrying about my future is getting too much.
View 8 RepliesI am a young adult and I have huge problems with my teeth now after several years of not having medical coverage and extreme fear of dentists. pretty much all my molars are gone and need to be extracted, but on top of that, I may not even be able to get implants or partials because I have an even bigger issue with my bite.I went to a prosthodontist who told me that there isn't enough space between the top and bottom teeth to put anything there like an implant or even dentures and this is absolutely terrifying. He basically told me that he couldn't help me because he "limits his practice to crowns and bridges" so he told me to go back to my general dentist to ask what they can do with my bite. In the end of the day I didn't get anything out of that visit besides horrific news so my question right now is, can it be possible that I can't even get partials because of my bite? what exactly can be done about this? at the moment I have severe anxiety and fear so I can't sleep or even think because of the news that I got and I'm desperate for some good news. Can anyone please help me understand how I can be treated so i could AT LEAST get dentures if not implants?
View 4 Replies4-5 days now i been having this annoying pain in my bottom 2 front teeth. I do not know what to do. I brushed, i've taken advil for the pain and it still is not going away. I been told by family its because i rub my tongue against them all the time. Could that be it? Is it something else more serious? Should i go to the dentist? I just want answers on what this is and want it to go away because it is driving me insane.

Im ashamed of my teeth because they are stained browny/black and plaque round the bottom of them, also my teeth are overcrowded. I faced my phobia a couple of years ago and had a few sessions with the hygienist. Anyway they are no really bad again and i'm in agony.feeling down.not sleeping and drinking all day to numb the pain but not working also very panicky and anxious and not been at work.

View 1 RepliesI had a lower molar extracted 9 days ago & was wondering if spicy foods can dissolve the blood clot & result in dry socket? I obsessively check the extraction site & the clot is still there (even though it doesn't look as dark but maybe that's my paranoia) & if you do get dry socket does the pain happen right away or take a day or 2 before the pain starts? I ate BBQ chicken that was a little spicy & was worried I might dissolve the clot. I rinsed with salt water immediately after but have been getting occasional pings of pain since about day 5 but just discomfort & a few times the discomfort went to my ear but it didn't last long. How long does it take till the hole completely closes up? HELP! I'm so afraid the clot will dissolve during the night & it's the weekend! I've read that if you don't get dry socket by day 4 or 5 you're in the clear unless you poke @ the extraction site or something causes trauma to it is this true?
View 6 RepliesIt has been 5 days since I got two of my upper wisdom teeth extracted. The right extraction does not bother me and feels like it is almost back to normal. The left side is in pain. The pain has gotten worse and is located on the two teeth closest to where the wisdom tooth was extracted. I also have pain in my ear, eye and a sore throat. I saw the dentist yesterday and she did an xray and examined the sockets and ruled out dry socket. She said the socket is healing fine. The pain in the two teeth she said is coming from a root canal on my bottom tooth (same side). Apparently, the pain is shooting from the root canal to the two top teeth. I am confused. Is this just a coincidence that the teeth that requires a root canal is causing pain to my upper teeth near the extraction? The tooth that needs the root canal is not painful. She has given me antibiotics and pain meds, however, I have not seen any improvements. The two teeth that are in pain do not have cavities. Has anyone experienced this before?

View 1 RepliesWhen i was 12-14 I got braces and finished the treatment and then i had my retainer, wore it for about 1 year maybe a little less, i was involved in a crash and i lost my retainer (it affected me mentally really bad), my teeth moved and i now have a overbite, i experience extremely bad jaw pain and i feel it's slowly getting worse, the pains unbelievable and makes me fell sick and dizzy, my jaw fells loose and very tight alot, im 16 years old and would the NHS found me again? I saw my orthodontist and i have an appointment on 19 January for retainer replacement, and the dentist on Monday and i'm going mention this.
