ENT :: Menieres Or ETD

Aug 28, 2014

I have been suffering with some inner ear issues since January 2013 and still do not have a good diagnosis. It was around that time that I got sick with either the FLU or some virus and ended up with a sinus and ear infection as well. I am looking for any comments based on the following.

Symptoms:

Some hearing loss in right ear

Constant Tinnitus either pulsate (beeping) or ocean.

After exercising hard, HR above 160, the Tinnitus will become much more pronounced for a period of time.

Sensitivity to some loud sounds

Pressure in the ear but typically with swallowing or pinching my node and blowing, it can change. When I do the pinch and blow, it does change the tinnitus to a constant beep.

Constant clearing of throat and a drip sensation in the back of my throat

Occasionally I fell a small burning sensation and almost like an inflammation in my ear, but every time I go to the ENT my ears appear clear.

When I blow my nose, I can sometime feel a mucus sensation in my ear.

When I touch my ear or cheek the tinnitus pitch changes. Same with if I squeeze my eyes shut

Rubbing my ear can change the pressure sensation

Sometimes I feel a drip sensation on the right and having my ear covered definitely helps with the pressure and inflammation feeling

Using a Neti Pot leaves my right ear feeling congested.

Tests done

CT SCAN shows a deviated septum to the right and some minimal mucosal thickening and a pneumatized nasal process

MRI is clear

ECOG was just performed but did not get the final results yet.

Eustachian Tube Test showed the tubes open but it seems when I swallow I am creating some odd pressures.

Rhinoscopy was clear but did show mucus on my right side near the ET opening

Basic Allergy test came back clear.

Medications tried

Fluticasone 50mcg Nasal Sp (120inh).

Dymista 137/50 Mcg Nasal Spr 120spr

Nasonex 50mcg (120 Sprays) 17g

Triamterene 37.5mg/ Hctz 25mg Tabs

Ipratropium 0.03% Nasal Spray 30ml

Sudafed

Low salt, caffeine diet
