I burp so much and with so much effort that sometimes my esophagus gets sore for days. If I drink water, I burp, if I eat I burp... I burp all the time. I had a hiatal hernia, but had it repaired. Any idea why I burp so much and what I can do about it?

I have had symptoms of burping and a pain in my back between my blades for some time now, put on ppi and it's was a little better, the burping hasn't stopped and the pain comes on goes , if I lay down ,it's better and it's better in the morning. When I sit in my van and drive my back gets worse, anyone else have something similar .
View 43 RepliesMy main symptom with LPR is the awful mucus throat. Does anyone know when this starts to disappear, during the course of my ppi treatment? Can a phlegmy throat be caused by intolerances? I only seem to get the sore throat when I'm talking a lot or stressed and sometimes in the morning if I've slipped off my pillow in the night. Can someone please help, it's just awful, making me feel very sick.
View 28 RepliesFor the past while I have been experiencing issues after eating. After eating it feels like something is stuck in my throat and I constantly have to clear my throat. This lasts about 20 minutes and it slowly goes away. However, in addition to this I also experience my voice going hoarse while it is occurring. This only happens after eating, not during. I have no issues during meals, but about 5 minutes after I get the sensation in my throat and my voice will go in and out. It bothers me and causes me to avoid going out to eat because I feel rude constantly clearing my throat. It is quite irritating, but I am unsure if it is something I should bother my doctor about. For the record, I am 25 and I have been experiencing this for 1-1.5 years.
View 1 RepliesI burp 24 hours a day. It is constant. It seems like just air. I have had the barium test and it showed my gall bladder is fine, my liver is fine, and everything looked great except for my esophagus.
My esophagus is weak and it is not getting the proper signals of when to work and when not to.....so the doc says.My doc prescribed Reglan. It has done no good at all. Many times I vomit up a meal due to all of the burping.
The burps are loud, embarrassing and very uncomfortable!
has any one had a really unbearable sore throat and mouth ulcers i have suffered with htis for 15 months and finding it unbearable, as i cant enjoy anything, and am fed up of docters and a and e.It feels like the ulcers are in my esophacus and i have a horrible wheeze when i lie down.I have had 2 cameras through the nose and had a barium swallow today.My stomach is very bloated all the time and i feel shattered all the time because the pain wakes me up the camera didnt show any cancer thankfully awaiting the results of barium swallow. I take omeprazole and gaviscon.
View 2 RepliesI am a 22 year old male. Along with my other issues I also suffer from the above. My endoscopy showed (Mild G1 reflux oesophagitis and minor duodenitis. Some bile reflux in stomach). I am currently taking Esomeprazole 40 mg per day which I believe is not helping. Everyone has said how my voice sounds much deeper and different than before, and the top of my throat is always itching. My teeth feel really bad, I know over time Acid can make them really bad. I have had several appointments cancelled by the Gastroenterologist at my local hospital and I am due to see him in September. I have tried all remedies etc but nothing seems to help.
View 6 RepliesOkay, so here are the facts: I have a 1 cm hiatal hernia and reflux. This I have been diagnosed with. I changed my whole diet - very bland and eating next to nothing. For about a week or two I was feeling better and eating all the same foods. However, last night I ate the same meal I eat every night -my chicken and apple sauce at 5:00. At 8:00 the intense pains started in the chest and went on and off until 1:00am with feeling like I was having a heart attack. Pains in the back and chest and under my breastbones. Finally took my spasm meds (docs thought I was having esophageal. spasms) but that didn't work to help the pain. Any thoughts - does anyone experience this horrible chest pain. It is horribly painful feeling like my esophagus is being pulled, stabbed, and crushed. Its excruciating!
View 12 Replieshaving new symptom now... Along with Polymyalgia, Prednisone I and other RA drugs, I'm now experiencing extreme thirst. Water just doesn't quinch. I drink atleast 8 cups a day. Nothing else.
have blood tests about every two months, sugar levels are good as per doctor, though I see it as on high side of good. In the 90's.
i just wondered if since everything I ingest makes my throat flutter, if it's making me feel so thirsty.
I'm 62 and recently have undergo a neuro surgery. I am 2 weeks post op and encounter lack of appetite and will feel nausea once I have my meal.
Also I'm constant burping as well. Kindly advise.
does anyone suffer from the above, am worried is something sinister, seem very fatigued sometimes feel sick and acid in throat driving me round the bend, i cough sometimes, GP gave me omeprazole worked a little then dont seem to.
View 3 RepliesActaually my brother got synus surgery in throat at january,My brother got refexion 2 times for past one month.oneday while he is eating its just choked and cant able to breathe for a minute with some sound in throat.After 2 days one mid night he again felt breatheless and awake and went for clinic to get back his beathe normal.Thereafter we discuss with ENT surgeriant doctar said its of acid reflextion and will cure it slowly.Even he hates all night and fear of sleeping.How to recover him to a normal guy. Since he is only 25 years old.

Plus, I have to wait 12 weeks for an endoscopy to check for a hiatus hernia!
My main issue is that I feel as though I am choking after I eat any food. It is incredibly severe. I cannot function because of it. But, I don't have any acid in my mouth or burning. Do you have any choking?
I'm on nexium 20mg, and have tried 40mg. I've also had lansoprazole and omeprazole, but none have worked.
Is there an op that can be done to prevent the acid reflux?
I just spoke to my GP about a particular issue I've been having lately. Often whenever I bend over or crouch - say to open a safe, or when looking at my laptop screen - I belch quite a lot of the time. Furthermore, water makes me belch a lot, and sometimes the only air that escapes is a little, audible gurgle. My GP and some relatives of mine say they get this too, and that it is normal. It doesn't cause me much discomfort, apart from dislodging some mucus in my throat so I have to clear it, but it worries me all the same because it's so frequent.
Is it normal to sometimes belch when you put pressure on your stomach? And if not, can anxiety be the cause of more belching/potential reflux?
(One more thing, I burp more and fart less than I used to. Maybe that's related somehow?)

Recently I have had the most frightening experience of waking up in the middle of the night choking and unable to breathe. It lasts about 60 seconds but feels like 10 minutes
The doctor says I could be inhaling acid whilst asleep.
Has anyone information or experience of this and know what can be done about it - its VERY scary.
I suffer from acid reflux. I take Prevacid which works great. My only complaint is i burp loudly and continually through the night, waking me up. It doesn't burn it's like I just have a lot of air on my stomach and I can't stop burping. Could someone tell me what could be the cause of this and what can I do to stop it so I can get a full night's rest.

View 1 RepliesI have suffered from GERD for 12 years now and am at present taking x1 30mg tablet of Lansoprazole (switched from Omeprazole) because my symptoms just lately have been getting worse. I am due to have an endoscopy once my appointment comes through. What i would like to know is whether others experience similar symptoms to me, i've listed them below:-
1) As soon as i wake up in the mornings and sit up in bed, i start burping and belching (even on an empty stomach).
2) i have a wedge pillow to keep me elevated when i sleep but also upon waking, i can feel a regurgitation sound coming up in my throat (like a crackling, popping candy type sound but no bad taste in my mouth, just this noise going up and down until i start sitting up
3) As soon as i eat or drink anything, i start to burp and belch (seems like even before the food and drink hits my stomach
Wondering if this is all GORD related? it really is starting to annoy me now.
I've been having issues with burping and bloating after eating. I tried the baking soda test to confirm low stomach acid, so I started supplementing with Betaine HCl. I had one pill with one digestive enzyme supplement at breakfast which was rice flake porridge with banana, ground sesame and ground sunflower seeds (I'm vegetarian and don't eat dairy either). I didn't have too much burping or bloating initially. Then at lunch time I did the same thing (one hcl one digestive enzyme), lunch was vegetables, rice noodles and tempeh. I experienced lots of bloating and upper stomach pains and a sort of tight feeling in my throat. These symptoms gradually have gotten worse throughout the day. Did I not have enough protein at lunch? Or are my digestive issues not related to low stomach acid?
View 1 RepliesSince February this year I've been suffering with reflux that's been worse than I have ever had it before. Initially I had reflux which seemed to be on one side of my neck only. I was on 20mg of omeprazole for this and it seemed to help but didn't get rid of it completely. For the last couple of months I've been taking the OTC version of Nexium 20mg and this has helped to get rid of the one sided reflux feeling.
However, now for the past week or so I seem to have a pain under my breastbone that comes and goes but is there after I've been eating, or when I move around (but not so bad when i'm standing up).
