For my pain relief I start my day with Cayenne Pepper, Turmeric, Ginger Root, Thyme, Basil, Black Pepper, Garlic, Cardamom, very little Fennel not each day, and Beetroot and Avocado, Wheatgrass, Kombucha and other Probiotics. I am not on any medicine yet, I can't do the steroids.

I have learned that these herbs really help me the tumors in my lungs disappeared. Can anyone else share a natural healing herb and support.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome :: Red Bits In My Stool - Tomato / Red Pepper Skins

I've been getting some anxiety over red bits in my stool. I think It's tomato and red pepper skins as I've read these are hard to digest and I had some red bits in my stool this morning and I did have tomatoes and peppers last night but I'm worried it could be blood. I've had a rectal examination and she said it was all normal. Has anyone experienced this?

Blood Thinners - Users Must Avoid Turmeric

Since being diagnosed with PMR Sept, 2014, I've tried to follow an anti-inflammatory diet as closely as possible. One of the things I've incorporated in my diet & take as a supplement is Turmeric. That word happened to catch my eye as I scanned our newspaper this morning and saw it mentioned in a medical help column. I read the question and answer and learned something I didn't know about Turmeric not being a good choice for people who take blood thinners. I thought I would share this with you as I've noticed many people on this forum mention that they are on Coumadin or warfarin.

Here's the text I read:

Blood thinner users must avoid turmeric

Q. I have a lot of arthritic pain, so when you mentioned turmeric for joint pain, I thought I would try it. In three days, my nose was bleeding. I take the anticoagulant, Coumadin, so I was concerned. My prothrombin time was sky-high.

I had to go off the blood thinner for five days to get back to normal. You should warn your readers about this interaction. Having your blood too thin can be extremely dangerous.

A. Thank you for the reminder that anyone on warfarin (Coumadin) or other anticoagulants should steer clear of turmeric or curcumin.

Although this spice has anti-inflammatory properties, it also can magnify the effect of these anti-clotting medications.

Prothrombin time is a measure of how long it takes blood to clot.

This interaction has not been well studied and is not found in the official prescribing information for warfarin. Nevertheless, you are not the first person to report a serious bleeding problem with this combination.

Pituitary Tumors :: Low Testosterone Levels

I had a pituitary tumor removed several years ago.   I had a follow up MRI last month and an appointment with my neurosurgeon. All is well. I did inform the Doctor I have been tired lately so he ordered blood work to check hormone levels.   Turns out my testosterone level is low. Actually looked at my bloodwork records just prior to tumor removal and all hormone levels were WAY OFF - They have all seemed to come back to normal levels with the exception of my testosterone.   My surgeon is referring me to a endocrinologist.   Working on making an appointment now. Has anyone else experienced a low testosterone level after this tumor removal and if so what course of action did you have to take? I am 46 now and I understand testosterone levels do begin to drop a bit in males once reaching the age of 40.

Brain/Pituitary Tumors :: Parapharyngeal Space Tumor (pps)

This is all very new to me so I hope I'm doing this right but I'm just looking for some reassurance. I'm 26 years old and was diagnosed with a parapharyngeal space tumour in late 2012. 2013 my surgeon attempted to remove the tumor by cutting my jaw and going through the back of my throat into the pps, unfortunately he was unsuccessful and didn't remove any of the tumor. We decided to monitor it over two years and see if a change in growth was noted. I should mention that for the last 4 years I've had pain in my left ear and face which has been gradually worsening, and around 10 months ago I lost hearing in the same ear which is now joined by a high pitched ringing. A mri in early December 2015 showed a growth in tumor so my surgeon decided to remove it, however he would need to take a wider approach to ensure he would get the tumor this time, he is concerned that it's involved with my lower cranial nerves so we may need to remove or damage them which would greatly alter my quality of life. Currently I'm looking at other options or other ENT over the world for more opinions.im desperate to find someone else who has been through something similar or if anyone has a suggestion of surgeon or alternative treatments. They are unsure the nature of my tumor so time is of the essence for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have a 1 year old baby who I need to be around for to watch grow up.

Prostate Swelling :: Garlic And Ginger Helps

One thing that I have noticed; a pattern in my prostate problems. Although, I am 64 years old; I enjoy lifting weights and I always like to do a very vigorous routine that attempts to build bulk. When I go all out , I notice my prostate get so swollen, it wakes me up at night and I can not sleep and it effects my urination. You know can not void completely, Retention.  But I did notice if I weight lift regularly, the only thing that keeps the prostate from swelling is a certain kind of diet.  I start out by cutting up garlic a small slices, raw . Then I slice up red onions, than I slice up raw ginger  I mix it up and eat if with a small amount of dressing; very small.  I notice if I do that my swollen prostate subsides and even I start feeling a sensation in my penis and am able to experience an erection. It is a hard diet to follow; because you always have a garlic odor and the vegetables are all rather bitter. But it works.  If I do this ; coffee does not seem to bother me, and I am able to urinate sort of regularly although I do still retain urine in my bladder. I try to cut out bread at any time because I notice even if I lift; I gain weight and stomach fat within a week and it continues. It is difficult to do; to avoid bread; with no carbohydrates; it is rather uncomfortable but it works. Tell me what you think.

I was doing really well, and was almost to my goal of being able to fly again (my niece has a wedding in July, and I didn't want to miss it due to being too big to fly), when I started having this strange craving for Strawberry Splash gushers, and Ginger Ale. For the past three weeks, I've gone through two boxes of gushers a day, and a liter of ginger ale a day. Does anyone else have strange food addictions that set them back? How did you kick it?

Dental Abscess After 4 Months Of Root Canal

I got a root canal done on #19. Got a crown and cap paid extra to get it in the same color. Now 4 months later I has a little pain so went to the dentist( I switched insurance so I had to switch dentist) for an X-ray. The lady looks at the X-ray and says we need to pull the tooth. I just got a root canal 4 months ago now it needs to be pulled! Didn't I get the root canal so something like this wouldn't happen??? I have no pain whatsoever now it is not sensitive to hot or cold and it does not hurt at all!? I know that an apricot or a re root canal can be done. My insurance will not cover a dental implant which will cost me $3500. I am still paying off the root canal md now it has to be pulled. Doesn't sound right. I have these X-rays in a odd if you would like to see them.

Dental Abscess :: Below A Filled Root Canal

I have been suffering severe pain on the right hand side of my face/ jaw on and off since the end of December. At worst it’s totally debilitating can’t eat or sleep and can’t focus on anything. I have been to the dentist 3 times so far in mid January he prescribed amoxicillin which did very little. I was then waiting for an emergency appointment for 2 weeks when I finally got in for an ex-ray they weren’t able to read it for another week and a half as the x-ray machine had broke. I finally got in for another appointment last wednesday to get the results of my x-ray and start treatment. As I had expected and been telling my dentist I have an abscess below a root canal tooth, this tooth had always felt weird and sensitive and have been telling my dentist this for years. He told me he doesn’t think all the pain I have been experiencing is from this abscess as the nerve should be dead yet I feel it emanates from here although when its severe the whole side of my jaw is intensely throbbing top and bottom. Basically he has started to remove deep filled fillings on my back right molars and put in a new treatment that builds a layer of false tooth between the nerve and filling of a deeply filled tooth. He said he would ask me in a month if I would like to have the abscessed root canal re done or pulled. In the meantime I am still in acute pain that is stopping me sleeping at times. This can be better for a day or so and then come on more severe and debilitating again. I feel really drained and generally quite unwell as its been almost two months of suffering with this. I wanted to ask two questions. Has anyone got advice on whether I should pull or try and save the root canal tooth? Has anyone experienced the same thing? I have read some scary stuff about abscess potentially causing auto immune diseases (I already have ulcerative colitis which Is an AI disease) Also should I go see a second dentist as mine seems to be very slow and even after diagnosis he wants me to wait a month after already suffering for two months! I have managed to keep it at bay some of the time with garlic capsules, salt water and tea tree mouthwash, clove oil and lots of strong pain killers. I am now in the more intense agonising pain and even pain killers don’t help, I believe it is the abscess causing this agony I just feel really let down by my dentist and Im not sure what to do next... need some relief please help!

Disc Prolapse :: Nerve Root Injection?

so today I saw the consultant, what a let down! The guy went through what happened first, then asked me some questions about the pain etc and got me to walk, tip toes, etc etc. then em said he won't operate. Instead will give me a root nerve injection. I'm totally terrified of needles and the thought of this is driving me mad my my fiancée who was with me didn't like him too much and neither did I. He didn't seem like he was on this planet! he kept asking me questions I couldn't answer. The pain killers mask virtually all my pain. The only pain I get is in my back and if I try to come down a dose, I get horrendous pain in my leg down to my heel and back. His attitude was, you're obviously not in that much pain today so we won't even think about an operation!

He was reading a letter from the pain clinic doctor who said I'm not a suitable candidate for an operation, yet the Orthopedic specialist I saw said I need an operation without a shadow of a doubt!

i have a friend who has had an l5s1 fusion, and he said don't have the nerve root injection. Someone who had one at the same time of him hasn't walked properly ever again.

So if I don't do the nerve root, can I take anti inflammatories instead? He said he wants to do it as a diagnosis.

Cannabis :: N-acetylcysteine (NAC) / Valerian Root To Quit Marijuana

Just trying to help my husband to give up marijuana addiction. I found interesting article about medicine helping to do that but I am not sure where to get it from. Here is what I read: OTC Marijuana Addiction Medications

Marijuana treatment medications that you can buy without needing a doctor's prescription.

N-acetylcysteine (NAC)

NAC is a cheap and safe FDA approved antioxidant supplement that greatly increases the amount of the amino acid L-cysteine that gets to the brain. People have been using NAC for a long time to treat kidney and liver diseases, among a number of other conditions. More recently, researchers have found NAC helpful in the treatment of psychiatric conditions like impulse control disorders, bipolar, OCD and addiction – even marijuana addiction.

In one study, teens given 8 weeks of NAC as a part of a marijuana addiction treatment program were almost twice as likely to give clean urine samples as teens given a placebo medication.4

Valerian Root

Valerian root can help with insomnia during the initial withdrawal phase.

Valerian root has been used as a sleeping aid for hundreds of years and it is endorsed by the American Academy of Family Physicians and recognized by the FDA as ‘Generally Safe’.5

As an adjunct to any OTC, prescription or herbal sleeping aid, you should also take steps to improve your sleep hygiene (avoiding stimulation before sleep, maintaining a regular sleep schedule, keeping your sleeping area clean and inviting, shutting off extra lights)."

Any ideas what is it (proper name) and where to buy it?

Dental Health :: Root Canal Infection With Common Variable Immunodeficiency

Went to a new dentist. Was diagnosed with a root canal infection. Have autoimmune issues. Common Variable Immunodeficiency. Get IVIG once a month. Was on clindamycin pre-surgery. Twice. While waiting to have tooth pulled, developed pain in lower right jaw. Dentist said I should have root canal in back right molar where I have a crown. She said I have a probable infection there. (I am dubious) Had the top left next to back tooth pulled. Oral Surgeon did not even schedule re-check. Went on cephalexin. Been eight days. Still have pus in gap where tooth was and having soreness in left jaw. Wondering about this oral surgeon/dentist. I am new to them. Should I go back to them/seek a 2nd opinion. . .or go to ENT.
