Corneal Ulcer Due To Contact Lenses - Blurry Vision

Dec 7, 2013

I got a corneal ulcer around 1 month ago due to contact lenses. The bacteria was pseudomonas, they told me its very dangerous because it releases enzymes that melt the cornea. It all started one night when I felt like something was in my eye and it hurt like crazy. I didn't get any sleep and in the morning I went to the hospital. They started me on vigamox every 30mins. I saw them the next day and said it antibiotic wasn't effective, so I was on tobramycin and another one(forgot the name) for the first week I went to the hospital everyday. After that every 2days. They said there was a 5%melt of my cornea and I might have permanent blurred vision. It's been a month now, the ulcer is gone but as expended it left a scar. My vision is blurry but the doctor said considering the size and place of the scar(middle of my line of vision) my vision is pretty good. Has anyone experienced this before? I'm not on steroids, should I be? I'm just on artificial tears now. Will my vision get better? My next appointment is next week so I will ask them what my options are with my vision.

Corneal Ulcer :: Blurry Vision And Sensitivity To Light

Hi everyone, just after some advice.. My left eye started watering really bad last Wednesday, by the Friday the white of my eye was blood red, I arranged a visit to the GP who gave me chloramphenicol eye drops and if it got any worse to take myself to our local eye hospital. By the Sunday my eye was so painful, watering, bright red and light sensitive. I ended up visiting the eye hospital to be advised that I had an ulcer on my cornea. This us down to a viral infection, I was given antiviral eye ointment to put in 5 times a day for 10 days. The doc said due to my job I would probably need 2-3 days off.

I have been off 3 days now and although the pain and redness has calmed down, my eye is very sensitive to light and my sight is still blurry.

has anyone else suffered this please and how long did it take to recover and the eye to feel normal?

Blurred Vision After Corneal Ulcer

Two weeks ago my eye began to tear continuously, and I was sensitive to sunlight. The next day my eyes were paining and were red and tearing, and I could not stand the presence of light. Whenever light appeared, I had sharp pain in my right eye and constant tearing. I tried to sleep that night but could not. I went to a local eye doctor who said I had a corneal ulcer due to bacterial infection through contact lens and referred me to a cornea specialist. The specialist prescribed me a number of antibiotic drops such as Vigamox, Amphotericin B etc. Next time I visited( 5 days later), he said the ulcer was healing. He cultured my cornea scraping and it was determined as pseudomonas spp. So I was prescribed ciplox(as it was determined sensitive to ciprofloxacin) and Vigamox. 7 days later, my eye is now almost clear and the pain and redness is gone but my vision is incredibly blurry, as if I am looking through a cloud. At times, my vision seems to be getting better, but then, particularly in the morning, it is blurry. Can anyone tell me how their vision came back during the healing process? Was it a steady progression or uneven? When did the blurriness go completely? How long does the recovery process last? How do I know how much scarring has or will occur? My doctor tells me that he does not know how much scarring I will have or how much of my vision will return, so I am very scared. I am a software developer, and now I can't read anything clearly and all activities have been on hold. This is particularly hard for me as I just can't sit at home all day. Would someone please share his experience or knowledge? Thank you, Sananda.

Epilepsy :: Vision Blurry

I was diagnosed with epilepsy about a year ago. I have for the past 3 year had strange eye sight. When i spoke with my neurologist she had never heard of it before. The only way that i can describe it is the vision you get after about 2-3 pints. I have been to the opticians and my eyes are perfectly fine. It is worse when i am outside and can make me feel dizzy and light weighted. Any advise would be appreciated. It makes me not want to go out.

Lisinopril - Light Headed, Dizzy And Blurry Vision

I have damage to my heart from chemotherapy I had as a child and it is progressing and I have now been put on Lisinopril to try to help keep it from worsening any further or as quickly. I do not have high BP (my BP tends to run normal to a little low if anything). I started on Lisinopril Wed. night and Saturday morning I went grocery shopping & while pushing the cart and walking I got extremely light headed, a little dizzy, & my vision went a little blurry, I thought I was going to pass out. I ended up having to stop and sit down for a few minutes. I was able to complete my shopping but had to stop several times throughout due to the sudden light headed feeling coming back. I have never had this happen before and I don't know if my body just needs to adjust to the Lisinopril or if it is lowering my BP too much and causing these issues. Do I just need to let my body adjust or do I need to call doc & get back off of it.

Corneal Abrasion Getting Better By Muro 128 - Blurred Vision

I posted earlier about a corneal abrasion from ten days ago and vision still blurred, though I believe abrasion is healed. Still had corneal edema causing the blurriness in one eye.Doc giving me steroid & antibiotic drops & anti-inflam drops. Nothing helped much till he added Muro 128 and that made a big improvement in blurry vision getting better. Wondering how long one takes this and if anyone else has had an experience with it?  Is it taken instead of, rather than in addition to steroid drops?

Corneal Burn? Due To Camera Flash - Blurred Vision

A year and three months ago I was taking pictures with my camera, and using an on camera flash. The brightness of the light did not bother me while I was taking pictures, or I would have lowered it. A few minutes later I started to get pain in my right eye, and then burning, soreness, throbbing, and then my eye began feeling like a rock. My eye felt this way for months. I did get to an optician a week or so later, and she checked my eye and said that it was just severe dry eye. She told me that she checked the surface, back and around my eye, but did not see anything. I have been to her three times since. At my last exam a month ago I was told my left eye got worse, but my right eye was fine...my eye still feels like a rock on most days, but it's also very sore and like I have something burning the inner corner. I am sensitive to bright light, and if I cover my left eye I can see that my right eye seems to be less clear overall. Everything seems darker, colors aren't as bright, and I can barely see any detail in my eye right. My left eye seems fine, and I can see clear. I was told to use eye drops daily. I have been for over a year. The only ones that work and didn't aggravate my eyes are the Systane gel drops. However, even they do not seem to be working anymore. At this point I am very scared, and I am trying to find an ophthalmologist under my insurance. I figure a real MD might know more. Anyone ever experience this or something similar. I feel like my vision has gotten so much worse in just a year, and the thought of it getting even worse so fast is horrifying.

Sjogren's Syndrome? Pain On First Bite - Neuropathy, Blurry Vision, Muscle Pain

I came across this syndrome when searching the Internet about extreme pain I have when I take the first bite EVERY time I eat and sometimes drink. That this could be a symptom of this syndrome but I don't know. I do have some of the other symptoms, i.e. neuropathy, blurry vision, muscle pain, fatigue but these can also be associated with Type 1 Diabetes which I have. Also, came across parotid/salivary glands are affected which also can cause the jaw to ear pain I'm having. Has anyone heard that the Coxsackie virus can have anything to do with it? How do you know for sure if it is Sjogren's and what type of doctor do you see about it - a primary?

Macular Disorders :: IolAMD Lenses - Hubble Technology

This new lens replacement surgery for Macular Degeneration is not all it is hyped up to be. My mother has very recently had both eyes implanted with the new 'hubble' lenses at the London Eye Hospital. In both cases they were an absolute dismal failure, to the extent that the procedure has now had to be reversed so that she at least has her former 'terrible' AMD eyesight, which sadly is a vast improvement on the vision given to her by the new iolAMD lenses. My mother was told she was the only one this has happened to but on talking to the other 3 people in the waiting room one day, she found out that all 3 of them were absolutely devastated at the awful outcomes they too were experiencing.

I'm sure it has been of immense benefit to many people, but it is not the solution for many others. The selection criteria for this procedure need to be reviewed urgently. My mother was told she was "an ideal candidate" for it. We have no answers as to why the outcome was so bad for her - conflicting solutions offered at different times suggest the surgeon either had no idea or was trying very hard to cover his butt. Very disappointing, especially for an 82 year old who travelled from New Zealand for 4 months to have this done.

Ask questions, ask to speak with other patients - successful and unsuccessful. You need to be very well informed before agreeing to go ahead with this. It is so expensive (up to 26,000 pounds!), then for my mum to have to walk away physically no better than she was before is very, very sad indeed. Her life savings still with the London Eye Hospital

At least it was able to be reversed, that was her saviour. At least she can now still be relatively independent. With the new iolAMD lenses in she would have been extremely dependent on others, for just about everything. So desperately disappointing.

Vision / Eye :: Flying Black Dots In My Peripheral Vision

I'm not particularly worried about this but I'd rather know what it is. I quite commonly will get, after stretching or getting up suddenly, flying black dots in my peripheral vision. These tiny black dots just appear, fly in a direction, then disappear. A bit like a swarm of flies in the corner of my eye except they keep appearing and disappearing individually. It might last up to five seconds or so. Then it's gone and I feel fine. I'm pretty sure I've had this for years.

Herpes :: No Sexual Contact For 5 Years?

The last time I had sexual contact with anyone was almost 5 years ago. however, a year ago I noticed an ulcer behind the inner labia in my vaginal area. It was only mildly painful for a few days then stopped hurting at all. I had half of a prescription of Valtrex from a bout of shingles I had before and because my first fear was herpes (because my ex had been unfaithful, apparently several times) I took them to see if it would heal after taking them. It did not and has stayed the same for this last year. About 4 months ago I got a second one slightly above the first that started the same way. I never see any blisters or anything, there is just suddenly an ulcer there. Again it was painful for a couple of days, then it stopped hurting but does not heal. I now have a third one at the top of my vaginal area that has just shown up and is again slightly painful but not unbearable. I am scared to death it's herpes and fear being told that. I know it's not the end of the world but it feels like it. I have done tons of research though and cannot find anything on herpes ulcers lasting as long as these have. Has anyone ever had an experience like this and it have been herpes or something else?

Molluscum Contagiosum :: Contracted Through Sexual Contact

Hello, Sorry for the long message but the background is important, please read.

I am 28 years old living and working abroad in Europe. Since September I've been traveling to many different cities, staying in hostels, hotels, AirBNB's and living/sharing 2 different apartments with people I don't know for extended periods. Have been always on the go, trying to save money on food etc... So it's possible I haven't been eating right as well.

Almost 2.5 months ago I had protected sex with a girl (condom broke and pulled out quick). 8 days after having sex I noticed some small bumps on the base of my penis that looked like Molluscum Contagiosum (It could have been there before the 8 days as well). The doctor said it could be anything but when it stuck around for a week or so later I figured that it couldn't be nothing so I decided to do some research and it seemed to look like Molluscum. I popped them and now it seems to have come back in the same spot (no more, no less - maybe 1 or 2 less but I can't tell)

I read online that he incubation period of Molluscum is 2 weeks to 6 months usually appearing between 2-7 weeks. So...

Here are my questions:

1. Can I rule out that the Molluscum was contracted through sexual contact with this girl after noticing it 1 week after sexual contact?

2. Could it be possible that I contracted Molluscum on my PENIS from another source???

3. Should I be worried that this could possibly be linked to HIV from sexual contact with this girl?

Eye Care :: Blue Sclera (like A Contact Lens)

I am 24 years old and have an (apparently) odd eye colour. My sclera has turned blue- only the visible portion- it appears almost like a blue contact lense. if i move my eye there is a clear defining line between white sclera and blue sclera.

After several people noticed I went to the Dr who had never seen it before. They ran blood tests for iron and liver. only issue was slightly lower ferritin at 17 (not enough to treat). The Dr has no clue, and neither do any other doctors in the practice. Optician says eye health is fine, and they don't know the cause either.

Has anyone else encountered this?

I also get joint pains, digestive problems, and fatigue.

Ulcer :: Sneezing Blood From Mouth

My son, who's 23, texted me that he thinks he has an ulcer. I asked why and he said he has been sneezing (from his mouth) blood, burping up blood and has BM's with blood streaks...

He's many states away and his Dad (who he lives with) is telling him it sounds like an ulcer. He said the gagging and burping up blood happens anytime he eats or drinks something. I don't know what his daily habits are, since I'm not there, but I know he does drink. And he's trying to quit smoking by using a vape pen. He's talked in the past about a feeling of having a huge gas bubble in his gut, that moves around and can be very painful. Please help me to know if I should insist he go to the doctor, He has no insurance so he would need to know it sounds serious.
