Diagnosed With Herpes Type 2 - Will I Ever Have Sex / Children Again?

May 28, 2016

My biggest fear in life has just been confirmed... Something I have been trying to protect myself my whole life.. I just feel so disgusting and worthless. My boyfriend of 6 months is not handling the news well... He just went in yesterday to get blood tests done because he himself has never had any symptoms. But I did hear it's easier for men to pass along to women because we have more soft tissue/more sensitive genital area from men..

I'm so worried that I will somehow have this and my boyfriend won't.. I'm so worried he's going to dump me over this because he can't handle any intense news well... I feel like I will never be able to live my life normally again.. How can I go a day without thinking about this? How will I ever have sex again?

I feel kind of lucky because it's just on the pubic hair region.. But I'm wondering if it can spread to the actual vagina? I'm so upset and I feel like I'll never be able to have children.. I don't know if anyone will reply to this but it just feels good to rant

Menopause And Blood Glucose Levels (Type 2 Diabetes Diagnosed)

I am wondering if anyone else going through menopause has been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes that only began with the onset of menopause?  I have never had an issue with BGL's until the start of menopause, now they are out of whack and Dr has diagnosed me with Type 2 diabetes.  I don't agree with this diagnosis as my gut feeling is that it is all related to the menopause and hormone regulation through the liver.  My question is if anyone has had this experience and did BGL's return to normal after menopause.  I am not on any medication, trying the diet and exercise thing first (mostly because I am in denial about the whole thing)

Possible Herpes? Diagnosed Yeast Infection And Tonsilitis

About 7 days ago my clitoris started to become very sore, with some white stuff around it. The next day my throat starts hurting. On Wednesday I went to the doctor and he swabbed and said it was a yeast infection. The next day I go to a clinic for a sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, and white gunk on tonsils along with white dots. The gyno gave me diflucan, and now on saturday, no help whatsoever, I now have these white sores around the outside on labia, rough skin. Still have thick sticky discharge, kind of off white?

Herpes :: Diagnosed But Tests Came Back Negative. Thoughts?

Three weeks ago I went to the emergency room after noticing some red spots on my penis while I was showering. I was very concerned since this was the first time I had seen these spots. After the ER doctor and the physician assistant looked at me, they diagnosed me with genital herpes. I was devastated and thought my life was ruined. They prescribed me acyclovir 5 times a day for 10 days, took the viral culture samples of my spots on my penis and sent them out to be tested. They told me that if the results came back positive for herpes they would call me and it would take approximately 7 to 10 days for the results. I was positive that they would call me, since the doctor and his physician were sure from their experience that it was genital herpes.

Two weeks later and I do not get a call from them. I am surprised. I decided to call them to see what was going on since for the past three weeks I was sure I had herpes. I called the lab to get an update and I was informed that the viral culture test for genital herpes and gonorrhea came back negative. I was both relieved yet surprised. I am excited my results came back negative, but if it is not genital herpes, then what do/did I have?

Here are some more facts regarding my situation:

- Whenever I had sex with my partner (I am a straight male, have only had sex with women), the spots appeared approximately 5 days later. This has been the first time I have been tested for std's. In addition to the viral culture test, they also performed a urine tests to tests for other std's and it came back negative.

- The acyclovir helped the red spots in my penis and it is back to normal now except for a small dot.

- The physician assistant told me that even though the tests came back negative, that I should follow up with my doctor, which I plan to do.

- Whenever I noticed these red spots on my penis, they did not hurt when urinating or hurt in any other way. I did not have a painful rash or pain like I have read in other websites. I felt completely normal and I do not have any other physical symptoms.

The question that I now have is, if it is not genital herpes, then what is it? Have any of you been misdiagnosed with genital herpes only to learn it was something else? While I am happy that my test came back negative, I am wondering what it could be.

My mother, who I told about this and trust about this, says it could just be an allergic reaction. Sometimes outbreaks appear on my skin, especially in the stomach and back whenever I shower with hot water. These outbreaks on my body have been happening for years, even before I lost my virginity 5 years ago.

Herpes :: Diagnosed HPV 1 - Why Genital Area Symptoms When Negative HPV 2

So back in October, I had a horrific and painful outbreak of herpes, both near my genital area and my mouth area. I was diagnosed with HPV-1, but not HPV-2 (swab test). I recently got into a relationship and I've told my boyfriend what I had and we had to be careful. Just recently, I finished school and from the stress, I was developing mouth sores, and now all of a sudden, I noticed one bump on the outer area of my vagina (I don't know the actual terminology, but it's on the "hairy" part) that popped up yesterday, thinking it was an ingrown hair because I shaved, but now it's looking more like a blister than anything. It hasn't spread yet and I'm hoping it doesn't. My discharge is a bit more creamy than usual, but there's no burning while urinating or pain near the vagina. It seems normal, just not the bump. The mouth ulcers are nearly gone and I haven't been sick and I don't start my period for another 2 weeks. Last time him and I had sex was this past Sunday and we used protection. My question is, if I'm diagnosed with HPV-1, why am I developing herpes in the genitalia region? Isn't it only supposed to be on the mouth?

Diabetes :: Type 1 & Type 2 - Insulin And Metformin?

So I am a type 1 diabetic where I take insulin injectables for my insulin needs.  I have taken shots for as long as I remember, well now I am 15 years old and my mom is diabetic.  I see that she takes pills for her diabetes.  She says she is type 2 diabetic.  I want to know why she can take pills and I have to take shots?  She is on Metformin so I would like to forego the shots and take the pills.

I would like the effects of the Metformin so I know how it would help me with my diabetes.  I want to start on it as soon as I can.  I would be able to go places without having to take a shot all the time.  I need to go to somewhere private and leave my friends when I do my shot.

With the medication I don't have to do that.  Does anyone know about Metformin and can tell me about the side effects and stuff?

Ovarian Cysts :: Affect My Opportunity To Have Children

I am 28 unmarried but would like children someday. I recently found out that I have an 8cm dermoid cyst on my right ovary. I have an appointment with a surgical physician in about a week and a half.  They found it during an ultrasound as I have been having pain in my lower right pelvic area.  The ultrasound tech told me they generally remove them with surgery but that is about all the information I received.  The call after the ultrasound was just to schedule this f/u appointment with a surgical physician.  Am I right to assume surgery?  I would like to be a little prepared before i walk in there.

I would appreciate anyone who has had a similar situation to tell me the likelihood of surgery,  how the procedure went, recovery time, etc.  I understand everyone is different but I am having a hard time finding concreting information.  And am working myself up worrying about it.  Especially if its going to effect my opportunity to have children.

Uterine Fibroids :: Esmya Treatment And Wish To Have Children

I'm 29 years old and I have a few relatively small fibroids. The biggest one is 4 cm and the other 6 fibroids are about 2 or 1 cm.

I actually didn't have any idea of what was growing in my belly. I only had bad pains during my period but no other symptoms. So last year in October, I did the yearly examination and it was then when the doctor discovered them.

My husband and I want to have children an the fibroids might be getting in the way. So I started with the Esmya treatment, in hopes that the fibroids will get smaller, so I can get pregnant soon.

Does anyone here is in a similar situation? What is the treatment that your doctor gave you?

Hidradenitis Suppurativa :: Disease DOES NOT Occur In Children - Wrong

I spotted a fault in the article about Hidradenitis Suppurativa.

It claims that this disease DOES NOT occur in children -- that it mostly affects from the ages 20-40. This is incredibly completely incorrect. I am 18 years old and mine began to appear at the young age of 7.

I honestly don't even have a question. I just wanted to go ahead and clear that up.

Tubal Ligation :: Unsure To Get Tubes Tied After 3 Children

I am having a bladder sling, and rectocele repair surgery done soon, and a tubal ligation. I'm 26 have a 6,5, and 2 year old |(which is y I need to fix what childbirth did to me) I'm just having a hard time with the thought of tying my tubes, something I told myself growing up I would never do. My husband is all for it, he refuses to get a vasectomy, and I've been having a lot of problems with other bc's. So it makes sense, I have 3 beautiful kids, I didn't think it would be such a hard decision. I look at pregnant women and newborns and feel sad. I know it must be the right thing to do, i'm just scared the second I wake up in the recovery room i'm going to have regret doing it.

Has anyone else felt this way before getting their tubes tied? So unsure?

Herpes :: Asymptomatic Gentintal Herpes Transmission To Mouth By Oral Sex?

Recently found out that I have genital herpes. It's scaring me because I'm a lesbian and I feel like I will never be able to have sex again. I have a couple of questions.

I'm in a relationship with a woman, would she contract herpes by giving me oral sex when I don't have an "outbreak"? Can she contract the virus orally?

What's are the risks and probabilities?

Can you have herpes 1 in your genitals or is it only herpes 2 in your genitals. What does this really mean?

Negative Herpes But Random Blisters On Vagina But Tested Negative For Herpes?

Hello! I was recently back in February diagnosed with hpv. I had full blood work done and I have no other diseases or infections. I've also not had sex since before the testing. I recently noticed I have two painful blisters, one on the inside of my labia and the other on the other lip. I shave and I've had ingrown hairs but these definitely don't feel the same. They are super uncomfortable. I'm unable to go to the doctor until The end of the week and wanted to see if anyone knew what they might be? And any temporary ideas for pain relief? Over the counters pain killers do nothing. Also, I have extremely bad allergies to pollen and with the pollen, came these blisters, so I am not sure if they are related. I've added pictures below. Thanks for the help.

Just Diagnosed With Barrett's Oesophagus

After having reflux and pains in my throat and stomach for a long time my GP finally referred me for a Endoscopy in January. The Doctor carrying this out said I had Barrett's Oesophagus and showed me some pictures. It is rather scary just how red and inflamed it looked. He asked me what medication I was on and I said Omeprazole (20mg) twice a day but I needed to take Rennies antacid tablets (orange) as well to help with the discomfort.

The Doctor told me to keep on with the Omeprazole as it is a precancerous condition and this would help. He also said I needed to have a endoscopy every three years. I am finding that the omeprazole doesn't help when I have the discomfort and the only relief I can get is when I take the Rennies and sometimes Gaviscon. I am still taking the omeprazole as instructed (40g a day) but wondered if anyone else who suffers with this finds omeprazole ineffective or takes something else as well. I'm sure the prolonged taking of Rennies isn't good.
