A few days ago code 0496 popped up for evap system problems. The fuel tank is very pressurized and there is a constant bubbling heard in the fuel in the tank with the gas cap removed. Sounds like blowing air through a drink with a straw. I have never had a problem like this with any car in over 45 years.

Take it to Hyundai, nope, not fuel cap... it's an Emissions/Evap control valve leaking above the fuel tank somewhere.
I drive a 2006 Accent. A few days ago the code 0496 popped up for evap system issues. I'm guessing this may have something to do with the fuel vapor management system but not sure what's a sure bet to check.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2006 Hyundai Azera that is coming up with the error code P2422. I have figured out that the code relates to the EVAP system. I have cleared the code a few times but it always comes back within a few kilometers. Also I have started to notice at some gas stations that the gas stops pumping around every $5 i put in the tank. This only happens at some gas stations but not all that i go to.

View 13 RepliesI have been replacing brake lines on our old rusty Cherokee when I discovered the evap line from fuel tank is partially missing, rusted away near the back. I have never noticed raw fuel smell, but what issues will this problem cause? I will replace the line if needed which apparently involves dropping the fuel tank.
View 1 RepliesMy wife and i have an 07 accent 2 door and we have a very hard time starting the car after putting fuel in it. Tank level doesn't seem to affect this issue. The car has 160,000 km on it. I've replaced the coil packs already twice. After getting the car to start after putting fuel in it it struggles at idle for the first 15-30 sec and then bang problem is gone until the next time i put fuel in it.

I have read a few different post, and the last one I read referred to his radiator fans. I know for a fact one of them isn't working and I haven't replaced it yet because it hasn't advisable effected my driving.
So my question is what could be causing this? Also I'm not sure if this matters but my a/c doesn't work either.
It all started with a fuel cap loose light (it wasn't) after a day or two the MIL came on and got this code I reset it but I'm sure it'll come back since there's probably a real leak. What can I check myself to find this leak?
View 11 RepliesNew owner of a 2003 1.8TPassat (29,000mi) as of the last 2 weeks and have just had my MIL come on. Scanned it at home with my Actron CP9125 scanner and got this code (P0455) which reads in the scanners manual as "EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Large)". Didn't know if this was a generic description of the code or VW has a more specific definition. What precisely this is in reference to, gas cap, vacuum hose????? Or what VW's actual description of this code is?

2004 VW touareg v6 - engine light on - autozone diagnosed as code P0456. Possibly gas cap, so I replaced with aftermarket gas cap from auto zone. Light still on. What can I do or replace to fix problem. I read something about a N60 or N80 valve. Is this something I can buy and replace myself. Most of my mechanical experience is related to working on a 85 CJ7 with an inline 6cyl or Chevy trucks. If the N valve is a easy fix, any instructions and pictures of how to do this.
View 1 RepliesThis van has had a couple of fuel pumps, no surprise there, and i need to look through my paperwork and find out how many miles the current one has on it, but it has the STRANGEST habit I've ever had on any vehicle. Starts fine, runs fine, no fuel pump noise when van is running, and when you turn it off, the fuel pump creeks on and off for several minutes.
I mean a strange creaking noise almost like a shorted electrical device or a vehicle's brakes when you park it on a hill and the breaks creak as it settles into place. I'm probably doing a lousy job of describing this but i don't know how else to describe it!
ALSO, if you lay under the van and wait til it stops creaking, you can tap the bottom of the tank and it will creak for a few more seconds. You can tap repeatedly and make it creak more. Is it about to explode? Can i trust it on a road trip?

My problem: For the first year I owned the truck, everything ran fine and it started up really quickly even after it sat for a few days or a few weeks. I have since, for about the last year or so, had to crank it for 30-45 seconds to get it to start. This all started around the time my fuel pump went out. I replaced it with an Airtex fuel pump from Autozone. I also installed a glass in line filter before the carb in front of the distributor.
I noticed that after about 4-6 hours, the fuel had drained out of the filter and that's when I would have to crank it forever to get it going. It also seems like there is no fuel in the carb as it doesn't even try to start when it first gets cranked. I thought this was a bad pump, so I bought a new one last week and tried it again. Sure enough after about 4-6 hours, everything is empty again and it takes forever to start it. So it's not a bad pump, or so I think.
The other day I backed it into my driveway and left it, something I never do. I checked about 4 days later and there was still fuel in the filter. This makes me think that gravity is making it drain back to the tank.
Is there something that would cause this? Also I have found a one way fuel check valve online that is supposed to remedy this type of problem. Do they work for this situation? Or is there something else I should be doing to fix this? It has taken a bit of a toll on my starting system having to crank so long all the time. I have so far had to replace my starter, starter solenoid, and all the battery cables, starter cable, terminals, etc. due to excessive wear.

I have a leak in my rear fuel tank, the front tank has been blocked off and is not used, The leak is at the seam of the two part tank, once removed is there a way to seal this? or should I just replace it?
I have a tank that's been out of my truck for a couple years. I want to clean it up real good inside before re-installing. Are there any products you can recommend that will give a deep clean on the inside to remove any gunk and some slight rust? Also, is there a product that should be used to coat the inside of the tank after it's been deep cleaned?
View 2 RepliesI am unable to get fuel delivery from tanks to engine in normal operation. I can however get pumps working with jumper wire to them. It will start with ether but not stay running on it's own. Could this be a relay or something in tfi thing ?
