I have the 2013 Accent with nasty knocking noises from the front. Have the same thing with my 2009. I opened the hood yesterday to fill the washer fluid and noticed I have a gap between the insulator dust cap, body or frame and strut insulator. I can almost poke a pencil through the gap. I am to think this is not normal. I have about 16000 kms on the car.
View 20 Repliesmy P has recently developed a knocking noise coming from the front right when I go over a pothole. My first guess was a worn anti-roll bar drop link, but I've just taken the drop link off and it looks absolutely perfect. (I noticed that they have updated this part since my last 2008 P which had aluminium inserts in the rubber bush and easily distorted - now they have a stainless steel insert.)
It sounds like the "clunk" comes from high up on the front right suspension. I have looked at all the bushes on the arms and they look fine. If this was a "traditional" car I would have guessed that the top suspension mount bearing had failed, but am I right in thinking that the P doesn't have one of these bearing mounts ?
Whenever I would make a tight, low-speed right turn you could hear two or three solid thumps from the steering rack/front suspension area. I figured this wasn't good for the car only having 600 miles on it at the time, so I took it over to the dealership, and they told me this...
I know a little bit about cars, but what that means. The service advisor told me that it was a "rubber boot or bushing nearly the steering rack that was sagging." I don't really see how that relates to them tearing the glovebox and dash apart...but they clipped something in, I can't hear it anymore and apparently the part is on order.
Having problem with accent suspension spring making noise? I had 5 people inside the car with some stuff in the trunk. As soon as I drove I could hear the squeak coming from the spring. I doubt that I went over the load limit. Any car should hold up 5 people with some weight in the trunk... right?
View 10 RepliesI have some noise coming from the front suspension. It is a popping/sorta creaking noise. I hear it mostly when turning, but sometimes while going straight. It is not a grinding sound, nor is it a high pitched sound. I took it to my mechanic, but they drove it and could not replicate the noise. They inspected the front end, and said everything looked fine. But I still hear the noise. The car has a little over 40k miles on it. No problems with the tires...no irregular wear, and no wandering. I looked at the front end, and didn't find anything obvious. I cannot replicate the noise just by pushing on the fenders up and down.

Sound seems like it is coming from the front drivers side. It's not my first time around the block and wonder if it's suspension related or steering related. It's going to the dealer tomorrow...
View 14 RepliesBut i still have the sound, and it definitely sounds like its coming from the passenger side, however when i looked at everything and tried wiggling the wheel, nothing seemed out of place. Would that still indicate a bad ball joint? Is there anything else i should inspect/have inspected?
The sound only happens when i go over a big bump, or a medium bump at a higher speed. It doesn't seem to affect my steering or driving feel, but its still not a noise that should be there.
I found that the driver side tie rod was a little loose, and replaced that, but sound persists.
I've got an '12 F-150 with 7k mi. on it. It developed a squeak/creak noise about 1k. mi. ago. It comes from the r. front suspension area and I noticed it one morning leaving from work. It occurs under suspension loading/unloading and it only happens during cold and dry conditions. It won't make the noise when it's wet or damp outside. I've had it at the local dealer 2 times now and they can't seem to locate it. It sounds like rubber on metal or when the 97 & 98's had the dry tie rod ends or ball joints problem. They are reluctant to throw parts at it to try and eliminate it and I agree with them. What were the findings?
View 5 RepliesI just purchased my first VW, a 2012 Tiguan SE in Night Blue Metallic. The level of fit and finish, handling, and general feel are miles ahead of my old '04 Jeep Liberty.
Anyway, I've had the car for about 250 miles and have noticed a clunking/rattling noise coming from what sounds like the front passenger side suspension arm. The noise is fairly quiet but seems to consistently happen when turning left over uneven pavement.
I plan on taking it to the dealer this weekend and it is only a minor annoyance, but a shame since the rest of the vehicle is so quiet and refined.
1) After 10000km the car started to develop some front suspension knocking sound going over potholes. After three trips to a dealer they finally said that it was a loose stabilizer bar which apparently is "very common". They tightened it and the problem seemed to go away. Now after 40000km the problem seems to have came back. I am starting to think that maybe it is somehow related to cold temperature because it seems to get a little better once the car has been warmed up and it has been going for some time.
I don't really care about the noise, but I want Hyundai to fix it if there really is a problem.
2) When driving 40-60km/h with the sunroof open I get a resonant wobbling sound. If I open one of the windows just a bit it disappears. Sounds like a poor sunroof wind deflector design to me. (I have driven Mazdaz and Hondas with sunroofs and none of them had that problem)
3) Whats up with those super heavy 16' aluminum wheels!!!! Is it just me or it feels like they weigh more then the steel ones? The car even feels faster when I put on my winter tires on steel rims.
Other then that the car has been pretty good. I am not getting anywhere near the factory specified fuel efficiency 6.5-7.5l/100km hwy and 8-9l/100km city, but I do drive it fairly hard, so that is OK. It still amazes me though that my 15yr old civic was getting the same mileage with a comparable performance. You would think that there would be some progress in automotive technology....

The front driver wheel does his flapping noise, it sounds as if there's a rock in my tire. No tred problem, no cv boot problems.
So I picked up my Accent on Tuesday with only 8kms on it and I love it! However I have one problem, I was driving around today and kept on hearing a rattling noise coming from the front right passenger side. I tried to lower/raise the window but I think it may be around the speaker.

View 6 RepliesWhat the defective part could be? GS300 has run 90.000km, sound can be recognized by passing for example gullys or small bumps with speed of ~20km/h. Increasing speed let the sound disappear. I have already replaced stabilizer bar bushes, link assy and lower ball joint assy.

Checked rear strut they look good but lower control arms look like they were not held straight when tightened could that make knocking noise just bought the car has air ride all bushings look new.
View 3 Replies2001 vr6 manual... I have a popping noise that comes from my suspension. it is in the front, and it has gradually gotten worse over the last month or so. It used to happen when i back out of my drive way only, but now it happens when accelerating from a stop, quickly braking or turning at low speeds. Recently its getting worse and i can start to feel it in my steering wheel sometimes. It doesn't feel like a wheel bearing. Is it bushings? Tie rod? CV Joints? Strut Mount?
View 2 RepliesSince about 5000 km, I have had a knocking metal rattling sound happening when I accelerate up a hill or a slight incline. It has happened a few times on flat road as well just more prevalent on the uphill battles. Now I assumed it was jus something loose that was rattling since I installed a cold air intake and had installed hid lights(I thought the ballast was banging on something). I tried and tried to find the rattle but I had no success. I read up on here about other people suffering the same problem and that running higher octane gas would solve it well I tried 89 and it was still there just not as much and I recently started using 91 and its gone haven't heard it at all.

So far everything is great about it, only negative part is that i feel when i turn the steering wheel like a knocking sensation and you can also hear it. Its not the normal grinding sound other people are experiencing. It feels like theres something loose in the steering column. Also while I am driving i can hear like a thump on the right front suspension. normally this sound when i am going over bumbs. Is this like the shocks or something?
Just in case i have a 2008 Toyota Camry SE.
2006 Sonata 2.4 GLS. My car has done 60000 miles and has developed a creaking/knocking (metal on metal clunk) sound at the left rear. it is only noticeable at low speeds when accelerating and decelerating in stop start traffic.
It is not the shock as I have removed the shock and driven the car and the noise is still there, I have also looked at all the bushes and nothing is obvious. I have also checked tightness of all bolts/nuts.

For the last 1 1/2 weeks stated hearing this rattle sound when going over speed bumps, or any bumps/imperfections in the road.
It looks to be coming from the front suspension, I can also feel the rattle a little in the steering wheel, not sure if it was always there but now there is a noise to go along with it now, so noticing it.
