First problem after 3 years of use. 2012 sedan, the lock on the trunk refuses to open. Tried the key lock on the trunk lid, the remote release by the seat, and after crawling thru the back seat, the emergency release button on the lock itself. All no joy.

Also thunderstorm with very near lightning strike during that time.Battery dead in am, though after jump start it was not necessary to reset radio, clock, etc.Neither remote works.Checked the door lock fuse - looks OK, but did not replace it as there were no spares in the spare slots.Where else to look for the problem?
View 2 RepliesThey originally had the issue where the truck open light was on accept when braking which I traced back to the harness in there trunk, a few months ago while they were getting there oil done there mechanic said they would just remove the harness and tie the wires together without the harness to prevent the possibility of a new harness corroding as well. but after doing so there rear defogger no longer works so somewhere they did something wrong but with the harness no there anymore I cant really tell myself.
View 1 RepliesI just bought 2008 hyundai accent with 51,000 miles and it drives great. Only issue so far is the trunk latch sticks when i open it, and i have to unstick it to close. I ordered an OEM handle from the dealer in hopes that it's the part i need. Any tips on how to replace. I pulled the trim off to look under there and spray some lubricant on it. But not sure how complicated the latch will be to replace.

1) The trunk will unlock when I use the key or the interior switch.
2) The trunk will not "pop" open intermittently.
However they deal primarily with stuck trunk doors; mine is not stuck. It just won't pop open all the time.
My 14' SE i4 locks when the trunk is left open for about a minute. To make things a little more confusing is that the car does not auto lock if the trunk is closed, I know this because when I get to work I never lock my doors. The first time the car locked with the trunk open I thought I must have accidentally hit the lock button on the key, but I have tested this with the key left in the house.
View 14 RepliesI just bought a 2012 toyota camry se with smart key. The trunk button on the remote opens the trunk, but the smart key button on the trunk lid does not open the trunk. I found a brown module unplugged the the left of the seat release handles in the trunk, I checked the wiring to the switch on the trunk lid.
View 7 RepliesI was moving something this weekend and could not close the trunk all the way. The trunk / door open alarm was beeping the whole time. I was only driving 10 minutes or I swear I would have ripped the stupid thing out of the car somehow !!!!!!
Can this beep / alarm be disabled or set to turn off after 30 seconds like the seatbelt chime?
After driving my 2012 Elantra for about two years, I have many times had the trunk just open, seemingly on its own. I always figured that it was simply my fault: you know, I bent the wrong way and the fob in my pocket got the trunk button pushed, etc...
But I always felt that there was more to it than that, as I doubt my pants push the button that much. Now a friend that I work with expressed the same trunk doubts to me about his one year old 2013 Elantra. He said that yesterday his trunk was open and he had not even touched his keys. Incidentally, I had a trunk opening experience yesterday too!
So what gives with the spontaneous trunk opening? Is there an identifiable cause? A known software defect? Something else?
That one little bulb on the left just doesn't cut it.
This afternoon I finally had a chance to wire in two 10" strips of LED lights into the back of my SE. Here's how it turned out (and yes, I need to clean my trunk):

I have a 2013 Accent SE and am having trouble with the trunk release -- it doesn't work. It looks like the part in the trunk may have come loose or something.
View 9 RepliesI just recently upgraded the speakers and deck in my 2012 Hyundai Accent GLS but after installing a 12" Rockford Fosgate subwoofer in my trunk all I can hear is an overly annoying rattle caused by the cheap plastic trunk lid. It seems the lid is vibrating against my rear window because when I shove a towel along the edge across my window the noise stops.
View 9 RepliesI purchased a new Accent 2013 in Montreal last year and at first didn't notice that there was only one exterior door lock on the drivers side.
But for the past few weeks I have been having key issues where it gets stuck in the lock for no reason and it has to be pulled really hard to get out. Now with the winter coming I'm kinda getting worried.
If I lock the passenger side and forget to take something out of the car, I have to go around to unlock the doors from the drivers side, go around to take the items and then go back to the drivers door to lock all 4 doors. It's getting frustrating.
Is only one lock a standard these days or only a way to get people to buy remote to unlock the car?
I haven't ever read the manual for my car. But the doors automatically lock when keys are out of ignition. most of the time, that is.

Also, my window lock button locks all of the window roll down buttons in the car except the driver side window button. It even locks the window buttons on the driver side door. Why in the world would it be useful to lock myself out of rolling down a window? Is there any way to fix this so that I can roll down the rear or passenger windows while they are locked for the kids in the back?
I've just got a 2014 model Hyundai i25 and it has a funny habit. When the driver's door is opened there is a ticking noise (like a light on/off sound). The noise stops when the door is closed. It happens only with the driver's door. This a company car and I checked the others ~ 15. None behaves the same. The local official Hyundai dealer/workshop can't figure it out...
View 2 RepliesI sent my car out for a new clutch and timing chains cause I did not have the time to do my self. So when I got it back I try and get into the trunk and the key will not turn the lock so then I tried to do it with the switch and you could here it unlock but again still would not open.
Also I called the mechanic and he claims he never heard this b4 cause the key should always be able to turn.
So my Passat 2.0T 4dr trunk will not open up on it's own.
When I press the trunk release button inside the car or on my key fob, the trunk latch releases but it will not fling up on its own.
How would I fix this? Do I spray WD40 on the latch bar??
I have bumper to bumper warranty on the car....Do I just take it to the dealers or is this something I can fix? Will the stealership try to charge me for this work?
How to lock the trunk on the Camry? I used to be able to lock the trunk with the main key, and give the valet guy just the valet key. No I cant seem to find the lock on the trunk.
