I have the OEM remote starter. All of a sudden it stopped working. I hit the lock button 3 times like I always did. I get the confirmation tone but it does not do anything after that.
How I can fix it?
Some background: New remotes programmed worked a month then stopped working, toyota dealer got it working for a month but only worked within 3 feet of door. Now not working at all. Could it be receiver for remote in the car? Where is it? How to fix?
View 2 RepliesI had a remote started installed by the dealer when I purchases my 2014 Avalon Limited.
I was disappointed with the location of the antenna. They installed it on the left side of the windshield (passenger side) about 2-3 inches from the top of the windshield. It is in clear view of the driver while driving and is quite unsightly. In past experienced, I have always seen it installed behind the rear view mirror so it is out of sight, but when I questioned the dealer about the location, they said they cannot install it behind the mirror because of the Black dotted area (antenna?) would interfere with transmission.
I am curious if others have had the antenna installed in the same location or in another, less visible area. I am trying to decide if I want to push the issue further with the dealer.

View 1 RepliesI noticed that my key fob has stopped working for remote locking/unlocking. This was not fixed with a brand new battery, and I just noticed that the depressed "unlock" button seems go have lost its subtle click, so there may be a mechanical failure inside there.

He said some of those LED brake light needs to be reprogrammed after installation at the dealership but he is not sure until he get it installed. Does the LED assembly needs to be programmed after installation?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2005 excursion with about 112,000 miles and last week all 5 doors decided to stop working on me when trying to lock or unlock with the remote or the door switch. I do hear a sound like something is happening just right of the fuse box. I did a little research and found that this is a wide spread problem. I did order 4 of the 5 actuators and I replaced the drivers door but nothing yet. Do they all have to be replaced in order to work? Or is it most likely something else causing this? Just trying to figure it out before I install the other actuators or take it in to a shop.

View 2 RepliesI had a remote start installed on my santa fe and initially it worked great. Recently it stopped working correctly. The car still starts but my heat/defrost will no longer turn on. I have tried every combination possible but when I get in the car the heat is turned completely off and will only turn on when I put the key in the ignition and manually start the car.

View 12 RepliesThe only time I want to use my remote starter is when the temperature is below 10 degrees F. We've been having a nice cold winter where I live and have had more than a few morning of 10 to 20 degrees below zero. I let the car warm up for a few minutes to get warmish oil circulating before driving away.
The problem I've been having is when I try to use my remote starter, the engine will turn over for maybe a half second and then nothing. I've tried hitting the buttons again, and it does the same thing. Then I walk out and get in the car and it always fires right up.
When the temperature is warmer I've used the remote starter and had no problems. It seems to be just a cold weather issue.
2007 Ford F150, Remote starter no longer works. after pressing remote (4) times. 3 with horn blast , it is to start. the lights flash, interior dash lights go on as if trying to start. It does this every 10 seconds or so till I hit brake. If I use the remote with the key inserted it starts right up. I had just replaced the battery previously.

View 7 RepliesI was removing a remote starter off of my 04 camry because it no longer worked. After I removed it i noticed that the radio and clock were not working. I checked the blue/red accessory wire on the ignition harness and noticed it looked like it had seen better days. So i decided to make the connect more solid by cutting the weak point and crimping it back together. Now I put the key in and turn it to run and I ONLY get the CEL light, the airbag light and the brake light(parking brake is engaged). I can't utilize the windows, it wont even attempt to crank, the a/c and heat don't work now. I checked all the wires in the area of the ignition harness and all are solid connection (tested with a voltmeter). I have tried to jump start the car with another car as well as unhooking the battery for 2 hours and nothing has changed. I also triple checked every single fuse i can see in the passenger compartment and under the hood and all are good. I also checked the circuit board behind the fuse panel under the dash and everything looked ok.
View 13 RepliesOn my sister's 2009 avalon unlimited, the remote will only unlock the rear drivers side door. If the door handle is grasped to unlock the doors, only the rear drivers side door unlocks. On the inside of the car, the drivers side door unlock switch (master switch) does nothing. The passengers side door unlock switch only unlocks the rear drivers side door. The bottom line is that only the rear drivers side door locks and unlocks using the remote or passenger side door unlock button on the inside of the vehicle.
View 5 Replies2003 Sierra 2500HD crew cab, my keyless entry remote stopped working completely after I unplugged and connected some wires behind the glove box. I was digging around trying to find the cabin air filter, which I later found out this truck doesn't have one, when I unplugged some wires from a module so I could access the air box easier. I unplugged two plugs that had a handful of wires each, as well as 2 coax type cables. I re-connected all wires when I was done, but when I tried to use my keyless entry remote it didn't work. It worked perfect before this, less than an hour prior.
I had another remote battery so I went ahead and changed it, still didn't work. I tried reprogramming the remote by putting the truck in program mode with the procedure for this truck, but never got the truck to recognize the remote during this process.
I also disconnected the truck battery for 20 min, reconnected then tried reprogramming with same results, remote not recognized.
What the module is behind the glove box? Is it the BCM? Any reason unplugging these wires and plugging them back in would make my keyless entry stop working? I can't find any fuses related to keyless entry, and haven't noticed anything else on the truck not working properly. I really don't like going to a dealership, what else should I look at to diagnose this?
My Key Fob buttons stopped working, I can't remote lock/unlock the doors or truck anymore with the key. It will still open the doors and start the car however. My thought is the battery is dead. 2 Questions.
First, how do I change the battery?
Second, does the key have to be reprogrammed? If so, can I do it, or is that a dealer thing?
Just FYI for those that may encounter key fob issues after replacing the battery:
Yesterday, I noticed the one of key fobs stopped working (2009 Tig SEL). The key fob battery was dead (tested the battery in another device). My 2nd key fob still worked, so I used that until I was able to pickup a new battery (2032) from the local store. Got home replaced the battery in the key fob that did not work. The key fob now lit the LED whenever I hit any of the buttons on the remote, but would not actually unlock/lock any of the doors / hatch or PANIC functions.
Called my local VW dealer and they to swing by (I work less than 5 minutes from them). One of the techs came out an verified the the key fob did not work, but did light up the LED. He told me they have seen this before and it does not always happen from changing the battery, but here is how he got the key fob to work:
Use the flip out key and manually open the driver's side front door (remove the little key cover on the rear of the door handle). 'Cycle' the key clockwise and counter-clockwise. Doing this locked and unlocked the veh / flashing the lights and sounded the beep. Remove keyfob and then use. The keyfob was now recognized and worked.
I have a 2003 Camry I4. My RKE stopped working. First I checked the battery in the remote, it reads 3v like it should. I searched and found how to reprogram the the receiver, so I tried that. I did the door and key dance and got to where when you pull the key out and the door locks lock then unlock. I try pushing the lock and unlock button, then just the lock button as per the instructions and I get nothing. Supposed to get one cycle of the locks if it works and tow cycles if it doesn't. I get neither of those, nothing happens. So I buy a new remote off of eBay (brand new, never used, OEM remote). I try the reprogram door dance again and get the same results. The battery in the new one reads 3v like it should as well. So I go off to a junk yard to replace the receiver door controller, I found one and replaced it and I get the same exact results.

My key remote stopped working and it will not unlock/lock, open trunk, or panic button for a while, so ill just lock the door putting the key in the door and turning twice. Now i do the same thing to lock the doors, but now it honk like it used to, until i open and close the driver rear door?
