Camry :: 2002 Toyota V6 Shakes While Accelerating Between 20 - 60 Mph

Feb 15, 2014

It's a 2002 Toyota Camry, v6. We just got brand new tires on it. The car shakes really bad between 20 - 60 mph as long as the accelerator is applied. After 60 mph the shaking mellows out and it seems normal while the accelerator is applied. Between 20 and 60 mph while the car is shaking, if I remove my foot from the accelerator the shaking stops and car is normal. To sum up, the shaking only seems to be there while the accelerator is applied. Is there a part I can replace that is relatively simple to do...If so, what part is it?. I'm not too be with cars. I've done some pretty big jobs following repair manuals.

Camry :: 2002 Toyota Shakes When AC Turned On

I just got a 2002 Toyota Camry. She runs fine, but the one thing that bugs me is that when I am stopped and my A/C is on, she shakes. I needed to do to make it stop shaking or if this is normal?

Toyota - Camry :: 2002 V6 Shakes On Startup / Clears Up If Rev The Engine

So I've had ongoing issues with this car that no mechanic seems to be able to diagnose. It jerks when I accelerate and decelerate pretty badly. It sometimes lets out a big cloud of smoke right when I start it. Now, it has developed some pretty violent shaking when I first start it up. It will only do this if the engine is completely cold and car has been sitting overnight. I feel like all these symptoms are related somehow. I have changed all the spark plugs and cleaned the throttle body. I've also had all the motor mounts replaced. I really wish the engine light would come on but it will not and never has.

It's really annoying that it only happens on startup so when I take it to the mechanic, well, they can't replicate it. What to try?

Camry :: 97 - Shakes On And Off When Accelerating

My 97 Camry shakes when accelerating.

First thing i did was check the trans fluid (automatic). The drip stick showed itself to be very well high above the max fill line for running hot. So i drained the pan, and replaced the fluid with 2.6 QTs as recommended by Haynes auto manual. The dip stick still shows itself to be high and at the same spot as previously. The problem still persist.

I recently have changed the front rotors and brakes how ever i do not feel that would be the cause to the below symptoms.

-Shakes on and off when accelerating while O/D is on.
-When O/D is off occasionally shakes.
-Rarely shakes when manually shifting.
-Shakes often when driving up hills.
-With O/D on, acceleration beyond 60 km is near impossible as it constantly shakes.

Toyota - Camry :: 1998 - Shakes And Cuts Off

My son's 1998 shook and cut off at a red light today. I am taking it to be fixed and do not want to be taken for a ride financially. What it could be, so I can show up at the repair shop professing some knowledge?

Toyota - Camry :: Car Shakes / Wheels Vibrating All The Time

I bought a used Toyota Camry 2012. It has 40,000 miles on it now, The car shakes all the time. It feels like the front wheels are vibrating, and the suspension is bouncing all the time. At slow speeds, and it gets worse at faster speeds. All I can say is that it is very uncomfortable drive. When I bought the car a year ago it had a very luxurious ride. Now it feels like there is something very wrong. Enough wrong so that I do not even want to drive it anymore. I have taken it to 4 different Toyota dealers, and one private mechanic. All say that there is nothing wrong with the car.

Toyota - Camry :: 2009 Shakes And Vibrates When Braking At High Speeds

I just bought a 2009 Toyota Camry with 78K miles on it. Everything is great except at highway speeds it shakes and vibrates when braking. The higher the speed the worse it is. Steering wheel shakes as well. I pulled both front tires off and the rotors appear to be smoothe on both sides with no grooves, etc. However, I'm due for new front brake pads. There's some pad left but could that be why it shakes and vibrates when braking? How do you tell if rotors are warped? Rotors are smooth but could they still be warped?

Toyota - Camry :: Sputter While Accelerating

I have a 1995 Toyota Camry that has 214,000 miles on it. In the past month the car when accelerating seems to sputter and act like its going to stall but it never does. The problem only happened when I was accelerating at low speeds or stopped at lights but recently the problem has been happening at higher speeds especially when going up hill. What the problem could be?

Toyota - Camry :: Missing / Stuttering When Accelerating

I've been having a problem with my 1991 Toyota Camry, which has a manual transmission. Sometimes when I am accelerating, it seems to stutter, something other people have referred to as "missing". It seems to happen when I am in "too high a gear", by which I mean for example, if it is happening while I'm accelerating in 4th gear, the stuttering will stop if I downshift to 3rd gear. Friends have suggested I need a tuneup, others think it may just need new spark-plugs, but the fact that it depends on what gear I'm in strikes me as odd (not that I know much of anything about cars, though).

Toyota - Camry :: 1999 - Vibration On Car When Accelerating

I have a '99 toyota camry with about 212k miles, it runs great, almost like new,i get the same or better gas mileage than what toyota says it got brand new. I have noticed that when I am going about 40 to 80 mph when I step on the gas to speed up just a little it vibrates for a split second like if I went over some rumble strips. it happens noticeably when I gently step on the gas and not as much when I step on it to gain speed faster. Is this something I should take care of soon? Is it dangerous to keep driving like this? and what could be causing this?

Toyota - Camry :: Plastic Noise When Braking Or Accelerating

When braking or accelerating or when hitting pothole I hear plastic noise (like when someone pack walmart plastic bags) from either driver front door panel (or insulation around door) or pillar between front and back door on driver side only. I hear same kind noise but much lower noise when pulling up window (only when it reaches top, not all the way...). It is only driver side and not passenger side. Other than that car is so quite (specially with my Defender tires), that any kind of noise is driving me crazy...

Toyota - Camry :: 2005 - Making Odd Noises While Accelerating?

I own a Toyota Camry that has about 180,000 miles. Yesterday, when I started the car, a high pitched whine occurred when the engine turned and the volume of the whine decreased after about 5 minutes (car was in park). The pitch of the whine increases when I accelerate, up to about 50 mph, and then the whine stops around the 50 mph mark. When the car decelerates, the pitch of the whine decreases. This does not seem to be linked in any way to the steering. The whine does occur when the car idles.

There are no alert lights on in the dashboard, only an odd noise.

Toyota - Camry :: Guttural / Guzzling Noise When Accelerating

I have a 2014 Camry SE that I'm the first time owner of. I've only had it about 5 months and it has 5000 miles on it.

Recently, I have noticed that whenever I press the gas pedal, there is a guttural/guzzling sound. It sounds like it is coming from the right side of the car, but that could just be my feeling. It started lighter, but I think it has gotten worse over the last two weeks. The noise will be louder when I accelerate, but it will still stay the entire time the gas pedal is being pushed.

I did just get the 5000 mile oil check and Toyota said they couldn't find any problems. I don't think the noise is normal though, as I don't hear any other making it, especially not new ones... What it could be?

Camry :: 2011 Toyota Transmission Loud Whine When Accelerating

I just purchased a 2011 Toyota Camry with about 36,000 miles on it. Within the past couple weeks, the transmission began producing a very loud and uncomfortable whine when accelerating at low rpms. The sound resembles that of a kazoo or a super charger. I've taken the car to several dealers and have been told that it's a "normal" noise for the 2011 Camry. To test the validity of this comment, I asked to test drive a few other 2011 Camry's and only a couple made this same noise. The dealer did replace the power steering pump, as he thought that might be causing the noise. However, the noise is still present and seems to get louder with each day I drive the car. I do not believe this noise is normal.

Toyota - Camry :: Whirring Noise At Highway Speeds Only When Accelerating

I've got a 2002 Toyota Camry with 96,000 miles on it. Car has been running fine for years but on a recent 250-mile drive I noticed a whirring noise (almost like the engine of a remote-control electric car). The noise is faint, but definitely new. I'm fairly sure it's coming from the under the hood, or at least from the front half of the car. No vibrations. The noise is only audible at highway speeds, and really only present when I'm accelerating (or on cruise control). It seems to get slightly worse if the car is climbing a hill.

Some things that have been worrying me:*I left the car in a friend's driveway all summer. Could that have anything to do with it? (There were no noticeable problems when I got back, which was months ago--when I came back after two months, I simply re-connected the battery and the car started on the first try).*I had a transmission fluid change about 2K miles ago. It was at a Jiffy Lube. They "flushed" the old fluid. They claimed they used the correct Toyota brand fluid. (I've since read that flushing the old fluid can be a bad idea for older cars.) Could this have something to do with it?*I just had my snow tires put on two weeks ago (and this is the first long drive I've done with the snow tires on). The guy who changed my tires took about 2.5 hours to do the job, saying "this is only his second week." The car is steering fine, and not drifting or anything, but could that mechanic have done something to the tires that is causing this highway-speed, acceleration-only whirring noise?

Toyota - Camry - Vibration - Corolla :: Shaking When Driving Especially Around 35 - 45 Mph On Accelerating

Two cars, a Toyota Camry and a Corolla, are shaking when driving them, esp. around 35-45 mph when accelerating. This started right after a historic snow storm in Virginia that brought 24" of snow and temperatures in the teens and a bit lower. Nothing appears to be wrong with any of the tires. The shaking feels like the car as a whole; it does not really come through the steering wheel. We`ve only driven each car once since the storm.

I`m thinking this may be from all the moisture and cold. Does this sound reasonable? Do you think it might work its way out, or do we have serious problems with two different cars on our hands?

Toyota - Camry :: 1998 - Engine Kicking When Idling Or Accelerating

I got a 1998 Toyota Camry with 2.2L 4 cylinders and have almost 210K miles on it.

Starting about 2 months ago, I was experiencing some minor engine kicking when it was either idling or accelerating, not really such a big deal. About a month ago, I took it to my mechanic shop and he told me that I need to clean up the throttle body. I took his advice, let him did the work and the car still doing the same thing. I did a lot of research on the internet and many people suggested replacing the spark plugs and after I replace the plugs (Bosch, not something cheap), the situation got even worse.

The engine starts kicking more frequently and violently and the “Check Engine” light came on (and flashing). I took my car to a local auto parts store and have their people get the error code for me, it was something about engine misfire and they told me I should have my mechanic to take a look.I took the car back to my mechanic, 2 days later when I called him for update, he told me the cause of the problem was the spark plug cables didn’t plugged in securely. But just before I drove off the mechanic’s parking lot, the engine did it again. I didn’t go back to ask my mechanic because I truly believe he did not want to spend any more time on my car.

Here are the current conditions of my car,

•It never fail to start when the engine is cold or warm
•When I stopped at traffic light, the engine ran smoothly, after about 10 to 20 seconds of idling, it starts kicking. It will do this no matter if my gear in in P, R, N or D.
•When the car is completely stop and then I press the accelerator, the engine will act like it’s going to choke and if I keep holding the accelerator, 2 to 5 seconds later it will rev up and going
•I will be even worse if I have my AC on.
•It runs smoothly if it on the highway
•It always acting up if I try to make a 90 degree right turn and never happens on a left turn
•The “Check Engine” light did come up again but went away 2 days later.
•I made a hard brake yesterday and it took the car about 15 seconds to be able to rev up the engine again.

Camry :: 2002 Front End Vibration Over 45 Mph When Accelerating

I have a 2002 Camry with a 2003 engine in it. Recently, I have been noticing a vibration that seems to be in the front end, and can be felt on the steering wheel as well. It only happens at around 45 MPH and up. It has been a while since I have been on the interstate so I am not sure if it smoothes out at 70 or not.

The vibration is only when accelerating, it stops if you let off the gas. Going down a hill it stops, but going up a hill it vibrates.
