I have a 2002 Camry XLE with 43k miles. When i accelerate from stop too quickly its as if the car cannot shift gears or something quick enough. It just stutters and then picks up as if nothing happened? This only happens when accelerating from zero.
View 5 RepliesI've been having a problem with my 1991 Toyota Camry, which has a manual transmission. Sometimes when I am accelerating, it seems to stutter, something other people have referred to as "missing". It seems to happen when I am in "too high a gear", by which I mean for example, if it is happening while I'm accelerating in 4th gear, the stuttering will stop if I downshift to 3rd gear. Friends have suggested I need a tuneup, others think it may just need new spark-plugs, but the fact that it depends on what gear I'm in strikes me as odd (not that I know much of anything about cars, though).
View 3 RepliesI have an APR Stage 1 flash done about 3 months ago and I absolutely love it and never had any issues.
I always leave my car in program two which is the 93 octane. I was driving home yesterday and when I was in the higher gears and accelerating in like 3rd or 4th and got the rpms up to 3500 to 4000 the car would stutter pretty hard. At one point it stuttered like 3 times in a row and then the check engine light blinked about 10 times and went away. When I got home I put the car back into stock mode and tried the same thing, but it ran smoothly with no issues.
Experienced this with the APR stage one flash. I'm thinking maybe it could be bad gas or the program didn't get set correctly, but not sure. I am going to put it back into the 93 program today and see if it still does the same thing.
I bought a cheap golf in february. It's an akl engine (1.6sr). Everything was fine on the way home. The car then wasn't used for like a month or two, and was stored outside. When we started using the car it gradually got more and more stuttering. At first it was just a slight stutter when accelerating, but now it's horrible. It will stutter and hesitate like crazy when accelerating or under load, but will cruise just fine at normal rpms. So far I have changed the air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs and a bad spark plug wire, but nothing has worked. I bought a vag scanner but couldn't find any codes. The idle isn't too bad but not perfect. What the problem can be?
View 10 RepliesMy 2013 300H now is 1-year-old and has 13,000 miles on it and in recent months I'm getting a strange anomaly.
On occasion when accelerating away from a stop sign at about 2500 RPM the car goes into a chugging or stuttering powertrain vibration. This happens in gas engine mode, not traction battery mode. It continues to vibrate until I take my foot off the gas and the chugging/vibration action stops and the car then operate normally. This action has no special sound with it just the feeling you are driving over a washboard.
The car is driven daily and it only happens once every week or so and the dealer has not been able to replicate the experience. They did check the rear suspension and said all was OK.
Have had this happen in both Eco and Normal mode. I used to drive in Eco mode but found average MPG just about the same in Normal mode. Getting 42.8 in Florida local driving.
My 2002 Hyundai elantra gls has had a problem with losing power when accelerating from a light. only after filling up gas and has done it only three times. I cleaned throttle body and noticed the mass air flow sensor is missing and wiring. I went to AutoZone and no check engine light for mass air flow sensor and that I have one for fuel pressure sensor in tank. I don't wanna throw money in to the mass air flow sensor if my problem is the fuel tank pressure sensor.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2004 Camry, 4 cylinder. 48000 miles, had it since 08 when my mother passed, and it had 6500 miles on it then. Over the past few months it has developed a grumbling sound on accelerating from a stop. I thought it was only audible from inside but I heard it when my wife pulled away and now I am concerned. Two ways to describe this.
1. Grumbling.
2. A diesel like sound
It lasts for a very short time and is silent while driving and idling. I have also noticed that the idle "feels" low. It is about 600-650. Not sure what it should be.
My plan was to buy and change fuel filter, air filter, PVC , and maybe some injector cleaner...
It's a 2002 Toyota Camry, v6. We just got brand new tires on it. The car shakes really bad between 20 - 60 mph as long as the accelerator is applied. After 60 mph the shaking mellows out and it seems normal while the accelerator is applied. Between 20 and 60 mph while the car is shaking, if I remove my foot from the accelerator the shaking stops and car is normal. To sum up, the shaking only seems to be there while the accelerator is applied. Is there a part I can replace that is relatively simple to do...If so, what part is it?. I'm not too be with cars. I've done some pretty big jobs following repair manuals.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2002 Camry with a 2003 engine in it. Recently, I have been noticing a vibration that seems to be in the front end, and can be felt on the steering wheel as well. It only happens at around 45 MPH and up. It has been a while since I have been on the interstate so I am not sure if it smoothes out at 70 or not.
The vibration is only when accelerating, it stops if you let off the gas. Going down a hill it stops, but going up a hill it vibrates.
First issue I noticed was the brake pedal/steering vibrating - my assumption was "warped" rotors (I use warped in quotations so that this does not turn into a discussion on whether or not rotors can warp.) I checked the front and the rotors and pads seem fairly new, the back pads were pretty much gone so I replaced those. Reduced the problem somewhat. Yes I still need to do the rotors but would rear rotors that are warped cause that much shaking?
Next issue I had noticed was that for a while that the car would shake somewhat when accelerating usually going up hills or when the car is under strain. Then I noticed that when I had the car fully loaded with passengers it would shake fairly noticeably when accelerating every time.
I thought the problem may be worn plugs since it seemed to come from the engine, well after 2 days and many hours of work not the problem.
By the way I bought the car only a few months ago and have very few service records so not too sure what has or has not been done. The lady did keep up with the maintenance though.
My vehicle has started to idle very rough, stuttering and almost dies at stop lights. It hesitates when accelerating, and really shakes and rattles if the AC is turned on. The check engine light and EPC lights are on. And even letting the foot off the brake in drive causes it to jerk along. I am up around 65k miles and have not had too many issues other than a fuel pump getting replaced last year. (the dealer first started replacing and charging me for many other items) I am scared to go back without trying to trouble shoot it myself.
What it could be and if there is anything I can try to correct it myself?

My car has developed a rough idle when stopped and when accelerating. When I got the CEL, I had the codes read at Advance Auto.
The codes are P0301, P0302, P0303, P1349.
I had my car tuned up a month ago. The very next day, on cold start, the engine starts stuttering and the rpm got real low to the point where it almost shuts off. On more than one occasion it did shut off. If I press the gas peddle, it revs properly. I thought I'd give it some time to see if it got better, but it hasn't. Yesterday, in the middle of the day (car had been parked for 8 hours), on cold start it did it again (93 degrees outside, so it's not cold weather dependent). It stuttered when I came to the stoplight, and so I put it in park to hit the gas peddle and rev the engine to get it warmer. When I put it back into drive, it stuttered and shut off at the light. It never stuttered prior to the tuneup.

Periodically while driving (usually at lower speeds <50 mph) I feel a "Stuttering" in the steering wheel. It feels like the steering wants to swerve left or right for a brief second with no warning. This occurs to greater or lesser extent but so far not terribly and not so I loose control of the truck.
Although I haven't experienced this on the highway I do feel a slight tug now and then in either direction.
My local shop has verified that all of the ball joints have been replaced/greased and everything appears to be aligned and in good operating condition.
I have a nissan patrol turbo diesel 2002 automatic. It starts fine idles fine drives fine for a bit then wen at operating temp it randomly loses power and stutters and sometimes stalls. It also shoots smoke out of exhaust wen this happens. It also seems to mainly happen at higher speeds. Engine light came on also. It starts straight away again even idles fine straight after but once it starts happening. I need to leave it for a while or go like 70 or less to be able to drive it.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2002 subaru forester that will stutter and backfire without throwing a code, but not all the time. i have had it hooked up to a computer to check the O2 sensors and they are fine, it has a new Throttle position sensor, knock sensor, plugs, and catalytic converters (all put on in the last month). I have called a dealership and they have not heard of this happening, so this is my last resort.

View 14 RepliesI have a 2002 jeep wrangler TJ, 4-cylinder and lately it has been stuttering/hesitating after the car reaches its' operating temp. To give more context, I've had a similar issue recently that a local mechanic said resulted from a bad o2 sensor and exhaust leaks. He fixed what he could and replaced the sensor. This fixed the issue, but he did mention there was another leak in the manifold that he couldn't get to? I asked him if it was okay to drive for the time being and he said yes. A couple months have passed and I'm now getting the same issue. I'm wondering if it is a result of the leak and if I've worsened the situation? Currently I'm noticing the same hesitation/stuttering accompanied now by a strong exhaust smell while driving. Also there seems to be a buildup on the engine itself as if there is an oil leak. I'm not 100% everything is related, but I'm willing to bet they have stemmed from the same unresolved issue.
I realize this jeep is 12 years old and that things are bound to happen. Unfortunately, I'm a broke college student and I've already spent quite a bit on other repairs recently. (new radiator, oil pressure sending switch, power steering sensor, leak repair, etc.) I'm at my wits end because this is my daily driver and I don't want to exacerbate the problem!
This is a 2002 4 Cylinder Camry XLE.It gets cold when running down the highway, but at a stop , AC gets warm.I have replace the cabin filer. A couple of years ago, replaced the AC MAG Clutch Relay, when AC light was blinking.But now I feel the condenser in front of the radiator and it feels very hot, and the fans never seem to come on.I can see the 3 Fan relays, and not sure where the ECT sensor is located, or whether that would be the problem.If the fans arent coming on at all, you would think the car would overheat?
Tested the motor on one of the two, with direct 12 volts to it, and it did not run.Tested the disconnected cable that would be supplying voltage to that motor and it read 13+ volts. So I would think it was a bad motor, but I would like to see the voltage on that disconnected motor go to zero, but not sure if that happens, or when?Guy suggested at parts place that sells the Two Motors, Fans, and Shield all as one unit for less than $100, that maybe the motor burned out because it was running all the time.
WHen should the electric motors not be receiving power?I read somewhere that when car starts that both are on low speed, and Always on when AC is on. But do one or both ever turn off? If I pull this shroud out with the two motors and buy the replacement, I just don't want to have the motor blow out, because there is something making it run all of the time.
This is my brother's 02 SE. 140k miles. 4cyl. He claims that the car is beginning to idle rough when he is stopped at a stop light and the AC is on. If i replace the spark plugs should that do it? I'm pretty sure it doesn't have spark plug wires cus that's what my dealer parts dept said. Motor mounts were replaced around 70k if that matters. The vibration is directly related to the AC being on.
I am also going to replace the serp. belt because there's a belt squeak when the motor is cold.
I purchased a used 2002 Camry [above model] with 99K miles on it in March, 2009. This is my 3rd Camry as the first, 1986 had 256K and the 1997 had 252K. I was very pleased with the 86 & 97 and very displeased with this new one!
I have problems with the engaging stalling, surging at stop signs as well as problems at about 40 mph.
