07 Camry LE USA built. The front line that goes down behind the radiator then towards the rear under the engine has started leaking at the bottom of the horseshoe bend. The bottom is rusted and leaking. Is there a temporary fix for this? Part is not available from the local parts stores.
View 2 RepliesI just purchased a 2011 LE Santa Fe,(2400 mi) and have a question regarding water leaking from bottom of the engine. I called the dealer and service rep explained it is more than likely from condensation build up on heater coil and being drained through the vent tube. I believe this is normal and have observed on other vehicles I have owned during the summer months when using AC.
I don't believe I have seen this condition in the winter months 40 - 50 F degrees when using just the heater. I'm hoping this isnt systematic of another problem, that was simply explained away by dealer. It sounds logical but then, again, I have never seen it when using the heater. I do leave heater at full blast when I start the car remotely to warm up cabin temp on those cold chilly mornings.
I need to replace the power steering hose because my power steering fluid is leaking. Is this the right part? [URL] .....
View 14 RepliesThe driver side track on the bottom of the window has rusted out on my 1994 GMC Sierra pickup. Every place I've talked to that is supposed to handle glass repairs either doesn't fix this kind of thing or just plain doesn't want to attempt to fix it. The only advice one place would offer is to buy a new window with a good track on it, but how to get the old one out without breaking it or putting a new one in. I know they sell just the track for these windows, but I don't know how to remove the old one without breaking the glass.
View 24 RepliesMy 2006 Toyota Camry LE (4cyl) is in the shop today for its 120,000 mile maintenance. The Toyota shop says my power steering rack (or boot?) is leaking, the whole thing needs to be replaced, and this is a $1200 repair. I had an accident in this car on 01/03/13, I was hit on the front passenger side tire, pushing it in and under, along with damage to the front lower corner of the door and the whole fender. I got the car out of the repair shop last week and immediately noticed a lot of banging and bumping that was not there before. I called the repair shop, they said bring it in and they will look at it, I was planning to take it in tomorrow. Meanwhile my car was due for an oil change and the 120,000 mile maintenance, so I dropped it off this morning and you know the rest of the story. I asked Toyota if this could have happened in the accident - they said while it could be that the banging and bumping noises are the boot rattling, it was not likely this would have happened in the accident. What do you think, is it possible or likely the power steering rack could have been torn in the accident or in the ensuing replacement of parts on the undercarriage?
View 6 RepliesI just realized that my power steering fluid is leaking. It is reddish color and it is at the base of the windshield on the passenger side. my car has 40k miles. Is this normal and is this considered as power train and is it still under warranty. This really sucks to think that I bought the Camry for reliability.
View 14 Replies98 Camry, V6. Power steering pump was leaking and level was low enough that it was groaning. I replaced the pump. 2 days later, more power steering fluid on the ground. Took some searching, but found it leaking from the boot on the rack. OK, very uncommon, but I replaced the rack and did a complete flush, refilled with ATF as recommended. every cold morning since, the pump will groan and steering will be very hard until it warms up... car will then drive normal. I thought maybe the pump had gone dry from the rack leaking and had gotten damaged... replaced the pump a second time... same symptoms!? belt is tight.. Im at a complete loss now...
View 3 RepliesI returned from my 2nd Deployment on the 5th of July and noticed I had no (what I thought to be) brake fluid. SO i bought some DOT 3 and filled it. A month later(2 days ago ish) I re-filled again with DOT 3. As I put the cap back on I noticed it said power steering... So I found the guide here and flushed the power steering completely. I thought that maybe the brake fluid had just been squeezed out of the lines somehow but I was wrong. Sitting, the car drips power steering fluid. A resevoir every 12 or so hours. I looked at it and found that it is not coming from the resevoir or lines or from the pump area. Instead it is coming from what I assume is called the boot? It is on the driver side. Where the half shaft comes out from the tranny there is another smaller piston arm looking thing that is hooked up to the power steering system and from there it is just dripping out. And the fluid on the actual arm or w/e it is called.
Issue # 2: Anytime I turn the wheel all the way left or right I hear a pop from that side of the car to which I turn. Any others have this as well? Or could these two issues be related?
We have a 2005 Camry XLE, with 102,00 miles on it. It has been very well cared for, and only serviced by our Dealer. We would like to keep the vehicle for another 50,000 miles. We have had an assessment of the vehicle done by the Dealer, because our brakes were very soft.
He found a great deal of air in the lines and flushed them out. He also found:
1.) Leaks in the power steering rack, which he graded as a level 8 severity on a 10 point scale. Repair estimate is $1100 to replace and align.
2.) Both front struts are cracked and graded for severity as an 8 on a scale of 10.
What do you think:
A.) Are these safety issues ?
B.) What are the consequences of delay ?
C.) Are these problems indicative of other likely problems ?
D.) Is it better to have a Dealer perform the repairs ?
I have a 1966 Plymouth Fury 2, and I have a few questions regarding fixing this up.
These cars had the option of having power steering, however, the original owner when purchased did not want that feature. I was curious as to how much trouble it would be to add power steering to my car. It's not that hard to drive with no power steering, but the steering wheel is massive and I imagine it would have to be to be able to move into tight spots at slow speeds. Also, though, driving with ease would be a plus, and not accidentally elbowing my woman in the face when I make a turn would be a plus as well.
The floor panels are rusted, which is normal for older cars. But, is there a way to repair this that doesn't involve welding? Is there a site online that specializes in older car parts?
My power steering fluid reservoir is a little low. Which type or brand of power steering fluid should I fill it up with?
I know that I should use Dextron III, but does the brand matter? Or can I mix the OEM fluid with an aftermarket fluid.
I've discovered a rusted hole leaking oil from the oil pan on my 2006 Sonata GLS 2.4L 4 cylinder.
Trying to find a replacement oil pan but I'm not having any luck online. The oil pan for the 3.3L is for sale everywhere, but not for the 2.4L.
Googling suggested the OEM part number might be 21510-25051 but I can't confirm that?
Found out my 2007 Hyundai Sonata V6 GLS needs a new brake line put in. The line rusted and all brake fluid leaked out. I am very surprised that after 7 years and only 103,000 km (about 65,000 miles) the car will need a new brake line put in already. All my other cars have been Japanese and have never experienced premature failure and replacement of brake lines.
Granted, I live in Toronto, Ontario, and this year has been a cold start to winter with lots of aggressive salting. It started to get a little bit warmer the last 2 days which probably accelerated the corrosion from the salt.
Noticed Tranny Fluid under the Ex last week and after further inspection, it is definitely the lines rusted, by the end of the week it was leaking pretty good with the motor running. Picked up the lines from Ford and bought a 5 gal pail of MerconV from NAPA. Going to replace the tranny fluid after I replace the lines. 109k on the truck and never serviced the trans. Never had an issue with this truck, shifts nice and tight. Found Mark W's Fluid Changing procedure which looks pretty simple.
View 4 RepliesI just changed the power steering fluid for likely the first time on my 2007 Camry 2.4L with 76k. Put in Maxlife. I noticed when the engine is running that there is a slight... buzzing sound... when the wheel hits the lock in either direction. Everything else is fine and no leaks are present. Im not sure if it has always existed and I only noticed it now because I was listening for irregular sounds, or if it is something new.
Everything else seems fine and the sound only occurs at lock. And it is minimal, but there if you listen for it.
I have an 07 Camry with a hard to turn steering wheel. I had to replace the high pressure hose from the rack due to a leak. After that I basically bled the system as one would do under normal circumstances. With the cars front wheels off the ground I turned the wheel hard left and right. The wheel did give a bit but not to the point of perfection. After many turns I put the vehicle on the ground and repeated the process. The fluid no longer leaked but the stiffness was still there.
The hose was replaced at 110,000 miles. It's currently at 112,000 miles
1999 F150 has rusted and leaking steel brake lines. I need to replace all of them but do not know if you have to fabricate them or can you buy the complete kit. I am also confused with the flared end. Have not worked with that type of flare. If they need to be purchased where is the best place to buy them ?
View 9 RepliesI just changed the oil in the 04 GLS. It looks like the intercooler is leaking at the bottom hose. It does leave marks on the garage floor. Also I may have rear main seal leak too.
The car has 45K on it
I replaced a rear rusted brake line a couple of years ago. It rusted where the line met the bracket. I'd never done this before but bought a flare (flaring?) tool and fixed it.
This week the longer line that runs down the length of the truck started leaking. It looks like the line was once held in place by a small bracket just in front of the rear wheel but it wasn't in that bracket anymore. I guess it rubbed against the metal and water/sand rusted it out.
A local garage said they'd need to drop the fuel tank and estimated that it would be several hours (and hundreds of dollars) to do the job. It looks like I might be able to cut the old one out and then fish the new line up through there and replace it.
Also, what is the diameter of the line? It is a 2004 F350. I can certainly cut it out first and then take a piece of it to the local auto parts place to get the replacement line.
Here is leaking from the nozzle on the bottom of the can.... opened my hood to check it today and it was leaking condensation and i could feel air blowing out of it. How to fix it? i have no issues cause by it, no CEL and no power loss.
