I am getting "Hood Open" warning even though it was closed. I tried open and close it for several time but it is still showing the same warning. Where to look for the sensor and what steps needs to be taken for taking care of this issue.
View 12 RepliesMy driver' side window had been making a thunk sound when first lowered from the full closed position for the last 6 months. I opened the door and couldn't see anything wrong. Now it won't go down at all, although I can hear it seem to try when I push the button. The motor is likely shot or some sort of other problem? It is a 20 yr old car and starting to drink oil, so I want to try to fix if possible cheaply.
View 7 RepliesMy brake pedal went right to the floor yesterday. I knew my rear brake was squealing so assumed it was my pads worn out. I went and bought pads. Fronts were half gone, rear was all gone. I couldn't get the rear tire off the back passenger(I even loosened lug nuts and drove up and down street) so only 3 replaced for now. Second time in a row rear brakes wore out well before the fronts.. Well, while that tire(I tighted it up again) soaked in pbblaster I drove it around for the day. Lost brakes again. After a few pumps I gained pressure. In the driveway I pumped and pumped and pumped the brakes.
Eventually I did see the leak all over the driveway. Of course it's on the tire I can't get off. So I checked the brake fluid. It was down but still visible. Closed hood. Then came back to car an hour later and now hood won't open. I had my wife pull the lever inside the car and you can hear it moving under the hood but I can't pop the hood up in order to get my hand under there to release the lever. Is there a trick to open the hood manually? My old dodge stealth had a small hole you could get to with a long screwdriver to open the hood manually. I thought most cars have a trick like that that isn't well published so people can't break into the hood. Does the camry have one? Now what?
I have a 1997 Ford Econoline conversion campervan that I don't use very often. I need to open the hood to jump start the battery. Last time I opened the hood I did not notice anything wrong with the hood or the hood release latch inside the cab. Now when I pulled the hood release latch inside the cab, nothing happens to the hood at all (the hood does not open at all).
Is there a way I can open the hood or do I need to tow it to my mechanic?
I started hearing a gurgling sound from under the hood of my car. It sounds like some sort of fluid rushing. Today, I noticed that my car was overheating. I took to have the coolant topped off. The guy there said that it was probably a radiator leak because the radiator was "sweating". It's still making the same sound and but isn't currently overheating. What could be the causes of all this and is it worth repairing in such an old car? It's starting to seem like it's time to get a newer car.
View 6 RepliesI noticed today that my hood is not actually latched in the fully closed position - Hood sits like it's closed, but I can simply lift it up to the popped position without pulling the hood release. Secondary latch is still fine so it stays closed, but I'm in a bind:
So first question -If I cannot fix it, is it safe to drive as is 3.5 hours back home?
Second question - is there a way to get it to latch even temporarily, keeping in mind that the only tools I have are standard screwdrivers and a pair of pliers?
Latch appears to be functioning fine and I can lock a screwdriver in it no problem. I read some threads implying the latch might need to be raised, but as far as I can tell it's already positioned all the way up.

My 1992 Toyota Camry was making increasingly worse sounds under the hood. On my way to my mom's mechanic, something snapped and the car stopped running. I asked the mechanic to check it out and let me know how much it would cost to fix it. He told me a needed a new timing belt, water pump, and everything else that goes along with it. The engine, because of Toyota's design was fine.

I noticed that when I close the hood, right after I close it I hear a sound like a small amount of liquid is being poured (it doesn't sound like much, maybe as much as half a shot glass worth). I did it about 10 times and I don't see anything dripping onto the ground or under the hood. It sounds like it's coming from near the radiator (although with the hood closed it's hard to tell, also radiator is new with maybe 10,000 miles on it) I noticed it after changing my oil. What the sound could be? Something to be concerned about? There are no other problems with the vehicle.
View 16 RepliesYesterday I made a 3 hour round trip with my car, and on the last leg coming back into town, I noticed my check engine light came on, and I saw white smoke coming from underneath the hood of my car, along with a burning smell. Luckily I was able to make it home just fine. I've googled this issue, some people have suggested coolant leak.
Also, I checked the oil levels today and they appeared to be slightly below the lowest level tick, which could be why it was having issues yesterday. Last time I got an oil change was November of 2015. I'm surprised it's this low considering I normally don't commute farther than a couple miles each day.
Smokes comes out of hood, check engine light is on, ABS light is on, the rpm needle jumps When I stop it jumps to #2, when it does that also the car shakes like vibrating.....
View 7 RepliesThe door handle isn't broken as far as I can tell, I just went to get in the car one day, put the key in the door lock, turned it to the right like I always do and the door wouldn't open. After trying a few times I went to the passenger side and got in, hit the unlock button to unlock all the doors and the driver door still wouldn't open. I took the trim piece off (the little piece that covers the door lock) the inside of the door and attempted to manually unlock the door by pulling the rod but to no avail.
What I should do next? It seems like I would have to have the door open to get whole inside door panel off so I'm not really sure what to do.

owner of a 2003' Phaeton V10. I have two issues with the car, the first one is : even if the trunk is closed, it appears to be open on the dashboard. I saw one or 2 cut wires ... The other issue is that i don't understand what does the symbol close to the tyres' one mean.

View 1 RepliesToyota camry SE 2012. The sunroof is stuck on the open position. It is fully open and the motor does not make any noise. The fuse is ok. Nothing seems stuck on the track just from a quick glance. I am hoping to find a way to manually close it if it is possible.

View 7 RepliesHave a '93 Aerostar that had something roll up against inside sliding side door and must have nudged it out of alignment. Broke off outside door handle, took off inside panel and tried prying, pushing, kicking and pulling rods, handle, linkage and anything I could get at. Any way to get it open, so I can re-align the catch mechanism??? I have tried everything I could to "muscle it" open....
View 14 RepliesI have a 1995 Toyota Camry V6 XLE and ...My driver's side door locked up and won't open from the outside or from the inside! Here are the problems:
1. I can put the key in the keyhole on the outside and it will turn clockwise but won't turn to the left at all- when I turn it clockwise it makes the normal sounds.
2. I can from the inside push the power door locks to lock and unlock and it moves the lock both ways on the drivers side, still won't open!
3. When I pull on the latch from the inside and from the outside I can hear the inner mechanisms moving, sounding like it wants to unlatch it from the locked position.
4. Now I am getting paranoid about the passenger side door because when I go to put the key in on the passenger side door lock, I can turn it to the Left to unlock the doors but the key won't turn to the right at all! It is a pain right now as it is to crawl over to the driver's side via the passenger door, but if that door locks up for some reason, I am really up the creek! I don't even lock that side right now b/c I'm afraid it might mess up like the driver's side door!
Yesterday went to fill up and the push feature on the fuel door would not open it. The door would pop out about 1/4 inch and would not release open even with a forceful tug. Played with it for some time pushing and couldn't get it to release. I actually left the gas station with no fuel. when I got home it worked fine so back to the gas station. Never had this Issue before and I go through fuel like its my job.
View 6 RepliesThe front passenger car door just closed and wouldn't open from either side. It is not locked, and lock is functional. Nothing budges.
Husband uses this car as a rural mail delivery vehicle and drives it from the front passenger side. On the route today, it failed to open for him during the route -- very inconvenient to move all that mail to get in and out.
He needs to take the inside door panel off but doesn't see how with having the door open.
