Toyota camry SE 2012. The sunroof is stuck on the open position. It is fully open and the motor does not make any noise. The fuse is ok. Nothing seems stuck on the track just from a quick glance. I am hoping to find a way to manually close it if it is possible.
View 2 RepliesI have heard that there is a way to program the FOB so that when you hold down the UNLOCK key for a few seconds the windows and sunroof opens.
is there a way to program this ourselves? Or is this only available at the dealer, and if so, will there be a cost associated with it?
I went to close my sunroof yesterday and it wouldn't close.. Right now it's stuck in the up position.. i checked all my fuses but don't know what one is for the sunroof.
View 3 RepliesI have a 1995 Toyota Camry V6 XLE and ...My driver's side door locked up and won't open from the outside or from the inside! Here are the problems:
1. I can put the key in the keyhole on the outside and it will turn clockwise but won't turn to the left at all- when I turn it clockwise it makes the normal sounds.
2. I can from the inside push the power door locks to lock and unlock and it moves the lock both ways on the drivers side, still won't open!
3. When I pull on the latch from the inside and from the outside I can hear the inner mechanisms moving, sounding like it wants to unlatch it from the locked position.
4. Now I am getting paranoid about the passenger side door because when I go to put the key in on the passenger side door lock, I can turn it to the Left to unlock the doors but the key won't turn to the right at all! It is a pain right now as it is to crawl over to the driver's side via the passenger door, but if that door locks up for some reason, I am really up the creek! I don't even lock that side right now b/c I'm afraid it might mess up like the driver's side door!
The sunroof on my 99 ford taurus has a dead motor as of yesterday and it's going to rain today! It is stuck in the tilted up position, is there anyway to manually close it until it can be repaired?

View 1 RepliesBought my 2004 Lexi RX330 in June 2014 with 96k (now has 105k - I drive a lot). It is beautiful and I love it! However, I am NOT in love with the sunroof that is currently stuck open. It's been making a weird noise upon opening (think bag of chips crackly) for the past few weeks. Yesterday was gorgeous weather in TX, so it was open most of the day. Come time to put her to bed, the sunroof would not close. Making a horrible grindy/clicky noise and closes about 4 inches then stops... then it starts to open again. Weird! There's nothing I can see in the tracks that is stopping it. The passenger side looks like it would close, but the drivers side looks like it is stuck. Tried to take the sunroof motor out, but there is a metal bracket in the way. Besides the fact, what to do with the motor once I had it out...

View 2 RepliesI dyno'd my car a couple of weeks ago and we found that the torque curve was a trough instead of a bump compared to stock - down about 10. HP was down maybe 5 (I don't have the printout in front of me). Magically, at 4100 rpm, it crossed over the stock curve and then was + 10-15 HP above stock, as you would expect from tune, intake, and exhaust. So it seemed that the power port vacuum valve was not activating. We did not have time to diagnose, so I went home and T-d in a vacuum gauge under the actuator.
From the info. I have been able to find, the flap in the manifold closes at 900 so that just the long runner torque pipes are open to the valves. And then it opens to the tuned closed port at 4100 rpm. On a cold start, there is a brief period when vacuum appears on the gauge, then it goes away and does not come back regardless of the engine revs. So, given the low torque curve below 4100, I am wondering if for some reason the internal flap is stuck in the open position.
What else I should be looking at? For instance, at idle, the flap should be open. Does this mean that the little white plastic lever is pulled down, or pushed up? If the valve is active, there should be vacuum under the actuator, right? Any way to tell if the solenoid is getting a signal from the ECU to activate it?
My darling wife just called me and told me that one of the people that she was transporting in our egg this afternoon pulled up the passenger-side rear sunshade and hooked it on the clips at the top. Then apparently he just rested his arm on the ledge and they heard some sort of "pop" noise. Then, when he unhooked the sun shade to retract it back into the door it wouldn't pull back and retract so it's stuck in the "open" position. I'm guessing it's a simple matter of popping off the door skin and resetting something that's popped/snapped off.
View 5 RepliesThe lock on the rear driver side door doesn't work, it stuck on lock position and it won't open with the remote. You can't even turn the lock by hand from inside. It's like it's jammed or something. The rear passenger door lock was broken a while ago, it was making a nasty noise but still working so I had it changed but this one just stopped working.
How am I gonna fix that. I was thinking in order to fix the lock, they have to remove the door panel first, and to remove the door panel the door should be open to get to the screws. Is it gonna be stock for ever ?
My driver's side air vent is stuck in the open position. I can coax it down with a piece of wire, and it will then (sort of) engage with the motor and move up automatically when activated (again with a bit of coaxing), but then gets stuck again... Not sure if it's the motor or gears/teeth on the vent itself...? Looking for instructions for removing the motor? Apparently it's straight-forward...?
View 5 RepliesI have a 2005 Toyota Camry that we purchased 14 months ago. When purchased it had bad brakes so the dealer replaced the rotors and calipers at their expense. A month ago I took the car in for a routine oil change and was notified that my rear calipers were stuck open and that my rear brakes were not working and rusted. The rotors look hardly worn, the one on the passenger side has some deep grooves in it and the driver side is pitted. We feel that we had poor work done when the brakes were replaced and that the back never worked. After the brake job was done we would get some "chinging" noise in the back brakes and I had them inspected twice and they said everything was fine. But now we find out they weren't fine.
View 8 RepliesThis morning I opened my center console armrest to tuck the iPod cord back in, when I went to lower the armrest it only dropped about 1/5th the total amount it would need to close. I fooled with it for long enough to know If I continue to apply more pressure something is going to break. The movement it has is smooth until the point it abruptly stops. I checked the owners manual with no luck, called the dealer service center which came up empty handed as well.
View 8 RepliesI started my Prius and the Navigation Display open on it's own without me touching any buttons as though it wanted me to load a CD. Now it is stuck in the open position and the CD player is making noises like a CD is stuck but do not have a CD in the player.
I have hit every button to try to get it to close, no luck. It is stuck on the FM station I was listening to and will change stations or to AM, CD, SAT. I turned the car on and off several times just stuck open.
2001 excursion 4'4 V10 XLT.
One or more of my door switches is stuck in open position. Door ajar light on and interior lights on.
Interior lights stay on for about 15 min than go off.
I have sprayed all 4 doors and both rear hatch lock assemblies several times with WD40 and electrical cleaner with no improvement.
When I open drivers door there is no key chime with key in cylinder. Could the hood switch cause this issue? How do I determine which door/doors is/are the offending crimimals?
I bought a 2008 Camry SE V6 in June. So far, nice car. I even made a point to find an SE with a sunroof. However, the sunroof rattles when it's open. Of course it does. Full open or halfway open does not change the rattle much.
I've been researching this problem online since June, and I am not finding any definitive answers on how to stop the rattle.
My wife has a 2012 Golf TDI. So far it's been great. Yesterday her sunroof got stuck. The motor sounds like it is grinding and won't catch. Tried to manually close the sunroof with no luck.
Took it to the dealer today. They said if it's due to sticks or leaves it is not a warranty issue. I highly doubt that's the case. My wife did say, that the sunroof did just open on it's own the other day while driving. Don't know if that's related.
My IS has the feature where I can open all of the windows and the sunroof by holding the remote unlock button which has come in real handy during this extended heat wave in the Midwest. But, I can't find out whether or not this feature is on my 2012 LS 460.
View 6 RepliesThe larger (60) side of my 2005 Sienna's third row seat is stuck in the "up" position. That is: the seat back will fold down, but the seat will not release from the floor in order to fold down into the well at the back of the vehicle.
The pull tab on the back of the seat that releases it moves in and out too easily. I viewed the mechanism under the seat and it appears that the pull tab is linked to a cable which rotates an armature, which in turn pulls one cable for each leg of the seat to release it. It looks like the cable connected to the pull tab is properly rotating the armature, but the legs aren't releasing. I can't tell for sure but it seems like the armature is rotated into the "release" position but it hasn't released the legs. I've crawled under the seat and tried my best to rotate the armature with my hands and a pair of pliers to no avail.
I was thinking my next step would be to try to rotate the armature with a little gentle persuasion (e.g. a hammer and a screwdriver or piece of wood).
My 2007 Camry has developed a loud popping noise when sliding the sunroof open. It's as though the sunroof is getting caught under the vehicle roof before it moves to slide open. The motor labors pushing the sunroof past vehicle roof. I see no obvious obstruction. The sunroof makes no noise when going to the tilt position. I have tried the initialize process, but the problem persists.
