My tail lights and dash lights only work when I hit the brakes, or when the left blinker is on. When the blinker is on, the dash lights blink on and off with the blinker. When braking they stay on until I step off of the brake pedal.
View 1 RepliesPassengers side tail light doesn't react when braking, using hazards or blinker, what do I replace? The bulb is lit, but doesn't blink or brighten when the brakes are applied. As of right now I'm replacing the bulb socket seeing as when I replaced the bulb the contacts were covered in a brown crust, is there something else I should be looking at?
View 3 RepliesI also have a problem with my left blinker and my break lights. My right blinker works just fine, but my left blinker and break lights will not come on unless I pull the blinker switch forward a bit- as if I'm going to turn my brights on.
View 14 Repliesi got a 1986 chevy g20 conversion van for camping trips and the dash lights and tail lights don't work but the turn signal works and the brake lights work and the headlights work i put in a new fuse and they worked for about 5 minutes then quit working there did apper to be a little watter in one of the tail light bulbs if that works.
View 2 RepliesI found out last night that all 3 of my brake lights are out. However, my tail lights work, and my turn-signals work. So obviously its not a big wiring deal. I was looking for the brake switch but i don't know where its at because i looked underneath. What fuse is the brake lights cause my manual doesn't have it listed. I drive a 04 Elantra GLS.
View 6 RepliesPurchased used 2006 and the left tail light does not work at times until I rotate the socket as if removing it. This happens frequently and then after about 3 weeks the bulb blows. I've confirmed the there is no socket terminal issue and no intermittent opens in the wiring to the socket. The buld internal glass blackens as if it is running too hot but the voltage measures slightly over 12V when I've measured it. The bulbs are rated at 13V. At this point the only thing I can think of is there must be an occasional high voltage spike that hits the left tail light but not the right tail light.
View 5 RepliesI have a 98 f150 4x4, 4.6L 150k miles, during start up the blinker indicator lights on the dash illuminated and stayed on, when trying the blinkers they did not work, but if I shut the head lights off the blinkers do work and indicators respond normally. This is the same if I turn the fan blower on, blinkers don't work and indicators stay illuminated. Also I have found that the power windows, and 4wd no longer work. Other functions work such as power mirror, radio etc. all fuses under the dash and under the hood are good, I tried switching some of the relays to see if that changed anything but with no success . took the kick panel off and inspected the grounds and all seem tight. It looks like the main battery ground is just to the body and there is one solid ground from the frame to the body under the cab. all seem tight and don't appear to be corroded. Truck starts and runs great.
View 8 RepliesI have had this problem since two weeks now. Basically I have bad tail light indicator on the dash and bad brakes indicator on the dash some times and some times not. Both come on at the same and turn off at the same time. But when the dash is lit, the car wont crank. Couple of tries later (15-20mins) later the warnings are gone and car starts.
This happens every time only in two gear positions i.e Par k and Neutral. After the said time gap, the two warnings start blinking. That's when the engine will crank. And after couple of tries, the engine comes to life. I have checked all the fuses, checked the battery, alternator, tail lights for lose wires But couldn't find anything solid.
I was trying to fix the tail lights on my trailer and I some how, now none of the lights on the left side of the car work. both rear and the one front light are out, left side only. the lights on the right work fine. how could I have knocked out the left side only??
View 4 RepliesI just bought a 97 Dodge Ram 1500. The Tail lights work when I just have running lights on, but don't work when I pull the light switch out far enough for the headlights to come on. Also, and probably related, the dashboard and radio lights don't work at all. I replaced the switch assembly already and that didn't fix the problem (i didn't use the supplied wiring though, only the switch). The previous owner used it to pull his boat so the rear end may have been backed into the water. The brake and reverse lights.
View 3 RepliesIve got a '14 Pip, no new mods all my mods are atlas 6 months old. When I turn on my headlights at night and make sure the dimmer switch, by the fuel tank button, inside the cabin, is dimmed, the headlights work, the front parking lights work, the brake lights work ( WHEN I STEP ON THE PEDAL), but they don't turn on when I just have the parking lights on with out braking. So, to clarify, the parking lights (the two strip that are used as brake lights (led)) they don't turn on. what could it be? Some fuse? I made sure to cycle the column stalk switch a few times, and the dimmer switch a few times. Could removing and reattaching battery fix it? Should I take it to the dealer (~85k miles).

View 4 RepliesMy running/tail lights and my dashboard lights don't work. Every other light works though(low/high beams, reverse, break). I don't know much about cars but My neighbor just put in a new relay and the running lights worked fine for about a week. Then the dashboard lights started flickering on & off for a day or two & now I don't have dashboard or running lights at all.
View 1 RepliesOkay, so all of a sudden my trailer tail/park lights don't work. Determined that relay wasn't working so replaced it. Wrong answer, still no lights. Further investigation revealed that relay ground was not grounded. Who would have thunk it? Anyway, the wiring diagram shows that the ground wire has a diode in it. Where it's located and where the ground, (orange) wire originates from?
View 3 RepliesMy girlfriend has a 99 explorer Eddie bower the dash lights and tail lights sometimes go out last time I checked the fuses they were fine will check again she does home health care so we drive a lot the last owner had a system in it he took it out when she bought it he just unhooked the box the wire we ran hidden but the dash around the gauge cluster does not fit right so it has been off I'm desperate to keep her safe.
View 1 RepliesWe found out that both our tail lights and our left turn signal light were out. The guy at the Honda place said that he thought that the person who put the hitch on our brand new car screwed something up. He said that 3 bulbs were burned out as well as 2 fuses. He replaced the bulbs and fuses and everything has been working. We pulled our light weight trailer about 4 times before the car was inspected. The car passed inspection. Then this problem showed up about a month later after we had pulled the trailer once or twice more. I'm afraid if I take it back to the guy who put the hitch on, he will just say that he did it right. Why didn't the fuses protect the bulbs from burning out? Could the problem be that water got into the hitch wiring. We wrapped the end of the wires in plastic but noticed water got into the area anyway. Why didn't the problem show up right away? Could the problem show up again even if we don't pull the trailer. What should I do next.

View 4 RepliesTail and dash lights would go out unexpectedly, so I would turn light switch off and then back on and they would work. After about a week they stopped working all together...I checked all fuses related to the lights and dash as well as bulbs.
View 5 Replies2013 SE 2.4 ... I am away from my car. Should be home Tues afternoon. When I left 7 days ago at 6am, I had no headlights. The light on the dash was on and all the other tail lights worked. Before I had to leave I quickly looked for the headlight fuse(s). Where to find it(them)? I may have to drive home after dark and will need headlights.
View 10 RepliesI have a 1990 F-350 7.3 lariat crew cab. The tail lights fail to work but all the turn signal and brake lights work. I changed the light switch located to the left of the steering wheel but that didn't solve the problem. all the fuses under the dash appear to be ok to. Is there another fuse for just the tail lights.
View 6 Repliesi have an 89 ford ranger custom and my driver side tail light works just fine but my passenger doesnt work when i mash the brake the passenger side brake light wont come on. the parking lights work, turn signals, and hazards work but the brake light. ive checked the wires and replaced the socket and still the same problem so either theres something in the wires that im missing or i dont know what else. any hints?
