2008 Chevy Equinox. Front two doors won't lock or unlock with remote when it is hot out. Just started within the last month or so. What causes this? And more important, how do I fix it?

About 4-6 times per year (randomly) the truck will either not start, or the electric locks won't work or the turn signal flashes radically or the electric windows won't operate. Currently the locks refuse to work on any door, but the windows work every where except the drivers door. Mechanics opinions seem to revolve around the body control module, but the error codes, don't seem to support this.
View 4 Replies2004 4x4 super crew cab. Door locks don't work from switches, touch pad on drivers ext. door or with key fob. I checked the fuses and both the 10 amp and 30amp fuses are good. Where do I go from here. some time ago I had the submerged wiring issue and corroded connections in the bottom of the rear door rail. Could it be the same issue in the front door?
View 2 RepliesI purchased a new battery for my 2008 Chevy Equinox and have it installed. After they installed it, my car radio would not turn on at all. The clock on the radio interface had been reset to 12:00 when they disconnected the battery, but I could not reset the clock to the appropriate time after installation. After doing some research, I came up with two scenarios to look into:
-the fuse was damaged;
-or, the removal of the battery triggered a security lock down on the car radio that requires a code to be inputted to make it operable again.
I checked the fuse, and it worked fine. I looked up the security lockdown item in the manual, and it explicitly noted that if this were to be the case, the interface would clearly indicate the word "LOCKED." The interface does not indicate this. The only thing the interface indicates is the time, which is incorrect.
Are there any hypotheses as to why my car radio is now inoperable? And are there any suggested solutions for resolving this?
I have a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. The issue is that during the winter the cruise control works perfectly. During the summer it doesn't work at all. During the Spring and Fall it is intermittent. It's not a big issue but, my wife and I are moving to England soon and she wants me to take it to a mechanic before we leave. However, I think I can fix this myself but, have nowhere to start.
View 3 RepliesThis is a pretty strange situation. A couple of years ago, my automatic locks stopped working consistently in hot weather. Sometimes they'll work and sometimes they won't, but the worst thing is that they are inconsistent. I only have this problem in the summertime or on really warm days in the spring or fall (I live in Colorado). What could cause this?
View 3 RepliesA few weeks ago, I went out to my car & the remote opener would not work. So I opened the door with the key. I went to start the car & it would not start. I got absolutely nothing. I also then could not get the key back out of the ignition. It would not even turn back to the original position. My father get the car started with a jump, but since then my car radio does not work. I also do not hear any noise when using the turn signals. They work, but no "blinking" sound. I tried to research this thinking maybe you have to "reset" the radio after a power "outage" but have been unable to find anything on how to do this. My husband recently passed away and I'm feeling a little lost when it comes to issues with my car. Where I can find some info?
View 4 Replies08 equinox. Awd. Was parked outside is -5f temps. Got warning light for awd system at initial start. Drove 1/2 mi to gas station. Shut off and restart and no light. Maybe temp related? Read manual and it say owner may get a warning if awd systems experiences overheating issues? What the heck? What exactly did GM manual writer try to mean with that statement? I know the awd system is wimpy at best and I assume it is mostly some type of viscous/liquid clutch setup for rear power transmission? I do not have hitch and assume the warning is to discourage ANY heavy duty use of this suv?
View 5 RepliesVehicle is a 2005 Toyota Sequoia SR5. Door locks cycle on and off. Happens during wet weather and usually takes 2-3 hours of driving. Sounds like there is a relay shorting out so that even though the doors are already locked, it attempts to relock them. If I unlock doors using the rocker switch, immediately locks them.
Then the lock mechanism tries to lock them again, and cycles through this every 10 seconds to 3-4 minutes randomly. Is there a relay under the hood which might do this when moisture enters the engine compartment? If so, where is it located and what is the part number.
One mechanic suggested that I replace the multiples computer located in the rear tailgate but he wasn't very clear about why he thought that was the case.
Our 2002 Passat 1.8 wagon has major electrical issues. Problems with the door locks, interior lights and believe it or not, the car will not start in the hot weather. The car also has to be started everyday or the battery gets drained for some odd reason...
View 3 RepliesRecently I've been having some intermittent trouble starting my 2008 Chevy Equinox LS. The problem only occurs when I leave my daughter's daycare after dropping her off in the morning...so it's the second start of the day, after about a 5 minute drive. All other times the car starts fine. Here's a rundown of the symptoms:
-May 9th or 10th: I tried starting the car (at the daycare) and the engine made sort of a buzzer sound, and didn't start. Then, after a few seconds, I tried it again and it started right up.
-May 11th: I did some interstate driving (about a 1.5 hour trip each way). On the trip up, after about an hour or so, I received the following warnings: "Service Traction Control" and "Service Stabilitrack." After I turned off the car the warnings have never come back on (don't know if this is related to the starting problem, but figured I would mention it).
-May 18th: while sitting at a stoplight, the car was idling roughly - I had to really hold down the brake to prevent the car from lurching forward, and the RPMs were going between about 800 and 1500...haven't noticed any rough idling since, though.
-May 20-24 & 27-29: Again, when leaving the daycare in the morning, when I try to start the car, it sounds like a machine gun. It usually won't start the first time, but will the second time after still making that noise. Attached is a video of this. The odd thing, though, is that it hasn't done it the last two times I've left the daycare (I doubt the problem just fixed itself).
Our 2008 Equinox with roughly 90K miles showed the "service stabilitrack" warning on a Friday, next day light was still there now paired up with "check engine" light. My husband did something to the "stabilitrack" button which made both lights go away for a couple of days. Then both of these returned. Took the vehicle to the dealer (we always do for service, we just don't know some good mechanics in our area and so far we had not had any major issues with the vehicle).
They tell my husband it is the EGR valve that supposedly needs replacement and that the reason it got to be bad is because we failed to maintain / clean the fuel injectors so those need to be washed / cleaned / serviced too so that the whole issue is resolved. No mention about the "stabilitrack" thing at all. Due to our needs of the vehicle and our lack of cars knowledge we agreed to it without looking into it further.. Lights have been off since that and we didn't think much of it.
But then this weekend we got this "recall" letter in the mail for that very same vehicle... talking about the "check engine light" being the issue and an apparent leak of gasoline (via odor or visual leak)... Maybe these are totally unrelated ...
I checked the manual for the recommended maintenance and nowhere there is mention of regular maintenance needed for the fuel injectors.. I looked online and while there seems to be varied opinions most of them agree that is something not needed; neither it is the EGR valve replacement... so now I am really wondering! Was it all for nothing? And how is one supposed to know this. Is the "check engine" light enough of an issue to maybe think this was the right thing to do?
I own 2007 Camry and my door won`t lock with remote and push button to lock the door. ONLY driver door will respond to remote and push button. When I lock it, only driver door will lock. Light lights up when I press remote. Trunk works fine.
View 14 RepliesThe power door locks on my '99 Tahoe do not always work. Most of the time they all operate except for the front passenger door. It attempts to move, maybe halfway, but doesn't lock or unlock all the way. It works fine manually. The keyfob works the same way as the door switch. About 10% of the time they all work fine including the passenger door.
I've been told they might not be getting enough voltage due to loose connections. The connections look good as far as I can tell. What should I look for on my multimeter and where should I test it?
My remote locks only work intermittently when I press the buttons on the key fob. The locks on the drivers door and rear drivers side door also only work occasionally. If it turns out it's the module in the driver's door, is there a way to repair it? Or must it be replaced?
View 1 RepliesI have a 02 Buick Lesabre. The door locks and windows won't roll up or down anymore. I have checked and replaced the 30 amp fuse for power windows and also checked and replaced the window door switch for the drivers side and still nothing works. What else could it be?
View 5 RepliesSo, this 2000 X-Limited that recently bought has an issue.
Power door locks. The drivers door is the only door that works, using either the remote fob or the rocket switch on the door. None of the other doors, or the rear lift glass work.
I have a hard time believing that ALL of the individual actuators in each door don't work.
Does the actuator in the drivers door act as a primary? Are all of the other actuators slaved through the drivers door? Is there a relay between the drivers door and the other doors that could be bad?
After lurking here on FTE for the past several months, I finally had the opportunity yesterday to pick up a new to me 2002 Excursion Limited w/ 7.3 diesel engine. The kids (5yo twins) absolutely love it and even the wife is growing very attached
I think I bought it for a very fair price and it's in just about pristine condition with 110k on it. The previous owner took very good care of it and had just about a full maintenance history for the vehicle. The ball joints and tie rods were replaced at 90k and it still has the original tranny-it does shift very deliberately and solidly though. My first true mod will be to add the 6.0 cooler and a tranny filter to hopefully put off what seems to be the inevitable with the 4R100 transmissions. I'm not thrilled with the wheels/tires and plan on swapping them out asap along with the headlights/taillights.
If there is one particular issue so far, it's that the power door locks don't work. When the buttons are pushed (inside and out), there's absolutely no reaction - not even clicking to indicate that the actuators are bad/stuck. I've pulled the #19 fuse and it's fine - reinserting it doesn't reset anything. I'm wondering if the vehicle security module may be bd? How can I narrow it down to make sure it is indeed the problem before dropping the coin for it plus reset?
My 04' FX4 rear door locks hesitate to open with the key fob or the door switch. I can get them to open sometimes but not every time. Why this is happening?
