I have a 1994 checy silverado 2500 with 3 year old battery, alternator, and starter. I left the car for a week and came back and the battery was dead and needed a jump start. Charged up and sat for 3 days and dead again. I check for lights on and nothing.

View 4 RepliesMy Mom purchased a new 2011 Lexus RX350 last spring. The dealer installed a remote starter at the time of purchase (we live in Alaska). We've had a continuing problem with the battery going dead if the car has not been driven for a period of time (like 4 days). When she does drive it, it is for short trips (3 miles round trip to work). The original battery was replaced in fall with a heavy duty one, but the problem continues. Its been to the Lexus dealer (130 miles away) several times, but they claim everything is within the tolerances and "there is no problem".
They did note that the remote starter was drawing more than it was suppose to and reinstalled it. Their finding was that she was not driving it enough and recommended a battery tender, which has been installed. That works as long as she plugs it in daily. However, if a plug in is not available (like at the airport, hospital or if she is visiting) the battery goes dead after 4 days (even after it has been driven 100 miles).
Parked my 2002 sc430 with 6 month old battery at airport for 10 days while I was out of the country. When I got back the battery was dead. It was easy to jump and the clock was still on. I could see nothing that was left on. I have seen some other cars that have had the problem, something about theft lights, gps etc. I drove it home about 30 miles and have had no problem since.
View 14 RepliesFor the 3rd time this winter I have been unable to start my SUBARU IMPREZA because of Dead battery. Usually it is after I have not driven for 3 - 5 days. Each time it is jump started (AAA) and I have driven it to the local Subaru Service Center. They have tested and analyzed battery and charging system and find nothing wrong!!! (Battery was replaced last March). They say drain measured very low (3mA?).
One ?clue: when jumper cables are hooked and powered up to start car, you can hear the CD changer trying to find a CD or something. But there are no CDs and we never leave it on. I mention this to the Service manager and he says that the measured battery drain is too low for that to be the problem.
I have a 2000 Silverado Z71 with a 4.8 and Auto Trans. Here lately if the truck sits for more than a day with out being cranked the battery is dead. Put a new battery in last July. When i put a meter on it the Alt. shows 14 volts out put. once it is cranked it will start every time with no problem.

Also I have put in a new alternator and battery, because the battery would go dead after driving for a while. ABS light remains on as well. Also have pinging noise coming from below the emergency brake area, after I have driven it for a little while. Even if it sits idling at times, it will drag down the battery or something, because it will kill and go dead. Could there be a short somewhere?

I've been too focused on the loose steering and now there is a grinding noise feel on the steering wheel when I'm driving straight and above 20 mph. I jacked up the front end of the truck and after wiggling the front tires at 12:00 and 6:00, I can feel a slight movement at both front wheels. Is it a telltale sign the wheel bearings has failed. Note that I am deaf and can't hear any growling/grinding but I certainly can feel the grinding feel on my steering wheel. Wheel bearings it is?

View 3 RepliesI placed my Corvette with a consignment seller this summer. When he had no action, I took the car back but...battery dead. Fully recharged it, car started immediately (first time in 2-months) but then died and will not restart. My ace mechanic has replaced fuel pump, distributer, but no fire. Indication is weak/no signal at he injectors. Could this be residual Theft Prevention system? I had that fail years ago and I pulled the module and the car has done fine for 4-years, until now.

As of late I come out in the morning to find a dead battery. this happened before and I disconnected the fuse for the dvd player that was installed aftermarket. some times I have to hit my dashboard to get the dash lights to work, now they dont work at all. sometimes the ride control compressor runs for no apparent reason when the car is off. I replaced the battery 3 years ago and it seemed to solve the problem until now. I replaced the battery with an optima red top yesterday and now the electrical system is going haywire. the ABS light is flashing and the service ride control light is on, the fuel gauge is bouncing back and forth from full to empty. What should I do. I am a fair mechanic but electrical is not my forte.
View 3 RepliesI have a 1994 ford ranger with the 4cyl. My problem is that it uses 1-2 quarts of oil every couple of days and I cannot find a oil leak. I have pressure washed the whole underside of the truck and degreased the engine and i can not find a oil leak. It dose not smoke all the time but every now and then there will be a little puff of smoke out the exhaust and then every now and then every now and then (only when i stop) it will come a huge cloud of smoke but when it does it. I cannot ever tell where it comes from. But the truck runs fine and dosn't miss or anything...
View 7 RepliesI recently replaced the intake manifold gaskets on my 94 silverado 5.7 due to a coolant leak from the heater hose quick disconnect. It broke off when i went to replace it and had to remove the intake to fix it properly. After everything was all back together and i started the engine, i heard a slight ticking noise that goes up and down with engine rpm. I can hear it more so from in the cab than i can under the hood. Not sure if its the injectors making this noise or what. I also replaced the distributor cap and rotor while i had the distributor out. I marked every wire and hose to make sure nothing would get mixed up when I reassembled it.
View 6 RepliesThe issue I'm having is the A/C. When I got the truck the A/C was completely freezing. Recently however, the compressor was having issues not engaging and I fixed that by simply plugging the cord to the accumulator thing. . Now the compressor engages, but is not cooling really at all. It is an old truck and the compressor is a little worn from what I see maybe 2mm space when not engaged. I checked the levels of freon/coolant with a gauge and the amount is perfectly fine. Plus there seems to be no leaks.

It's not the fuel pump and it's getting a spark. It happens in all temperatures. Three different mechanics have not figured out what the problem is. From what I've read online, I suspect an issue with the theft deterrent module or something like that it's called.

View 19 RepliesI've had this issue for a while now but is seems to be getting worse the older the truck gets. I've had the battery, and alternator tested multiple times and they always receive passing grades. If the truck sits for a period of several days or more without being started, the battery is sometimes dead when I go to start it up and go somewhere. It is really frustrating because it seems to happen and very random times, when I least expect it.
Sometimes I can go start my truck without any problems at all after a week or so. Sometimes it won't start if I leave it alone for only a day or two. Usually after I jump start the truck it will run fine and start for the next several weeks. Is it possible that there is a short somewhere causing the battery to drain sometimes? Also, there is sometimes a buzzing sound that comes from under the hood when it is warm outside with the engine off and the truck at rest... could they be related?

View 7 RepliesPrius was running wonderfully until a few weeks ago. Recently, about 2 months ago, bought a new 12v battery. Everything was working fine.
About two weeks ago, the car wouldn't start. Jump started all good. Drove fine. If left unstarted for a day, it goes flat the next day. If driven every day, car will start fine.
Battery volt reads 14.1V whilst driving. I checked on the MFD screen.
2 months ago I got my battery replaced when it started dying very often. Now the same thing persists, if I don't use the car for two days the battery dies again. I took it to the dealer and got it tested and the dealer gave me a report saying the battery is good. I have to jump start it every time.
