I have a 2009 Matrix. The AC just stopped working as we were going down the road. The voltage at the compressor was 2.6 volts. the same voltage at the HVAC module I don't hear the compressor kick on at all, engine speed doesn't change when the AC button is toggled on and off.
The AC light stays on steady not blinking. I am pretty sure that there is enough refrigerant in the system.
This morning I started my car, which was parked on an incline, with the car in gear (manual tranny) without remembering that I had left the car in gear. So, when I started the car, it lurched forward when I took my foot off of the clutch pedal. No big deal. I started the car again, but now the check engine light and abs lights are on steady, and the VCS is blinking. The car drove normal all the way to work. When I got to work, I shut the car off and started it up again, but the 3 warning lights are still on.
Is there a re-set procedure for the lights that happens automatically, or do I have to have someone with a scan tool reset it?
Could there actually be something wrong with the car?
I remove the radio from my Matrix. When reinstalling the trim, I damaged the left have heater control (the one which controls where the air comes out). I put that back in, now the fan doesn't work. All the push butting on the AC controls light up when I want them to, but the fan doesn't work.
I don't have a repair manual or wiring diagram, but I figure it has to be something really simple. I have looked at the fuses (I think).
Woke up this morning and found a red light blinking by my shift knob. It was the passenger air bag. There was a lock on it. How come its doing that? My car is turned off. Could there be a problem with my air bag or was it just a code?
View 3 RepliesI just purchased a used 2010 Toyota Corolla with Airbag Light ON (not blinking). Yes car was in an accident, but Air Bags did not deployed as per the seller. It needs to re-calibrate by Dealer.
As a novice, and avid Toyota person, since it's a good deal I decided to take the car with the airbag lights on. I have seen on youtube, the cause is likely the spiral cable.
Was driving the other day then suddenly fog lights stopped working, I changed the bulbs still wont work, so I checked the fuses to make sure all was ok, and everything was perfect. And now I am completely lost, have no clue what to check to make them working..

Today after work I started the car in a sheltered car garage and as soon as I started the car the after the initial start up sequence the check engine light stayed on and the traction control light stayed on and right next to it on the left side the "VSC Off" light kept blinking and flashing. I turned off the car and started it several times to see if that did anything and to no avail nothing happened.
While I was driving those lights stayed on and the VSC off light kept on blinking. I also checked the brakes and the brake fluid and they all seem to be fine, I even checked the fuel door as well.
I am not sure what is wrong. I was looking at some of the complaint sites and most people say it happens when you drive through a deep puddle or if it is cold and wet outside. But that didn't make sense because I drove in the snow and those lights never turned on. The only time I used the ETS button is during the snow storms and I drive at low speeds.
I need to know why this VSC off light is blinking? Is it a bad sensor or is the ABS/ETS brake system broken or is it an ECU issue or is it because of an alignment. Since I was told to get an alignment soon.
I, like many, have had issues with my aux jack and decided to have it replaced with an aftermarket device. My aftermarket device plugs into the rear of the radio in place of the OEM aux harness. After removed the old OEM aux harness and installed the new one and put everything back together i had a problem.
The new AUX also comes with a USB slot as well and it all works properly, thats not the issue.
The issue is that my keyless remote has intermittently stopped working. I got out to lock the doors with the remote and nothing happened. I had no time to fiddle with it so i locked the doors via the keyhole and left it. The next time to went to my car, i tried to use the keyless and voila it worked! it locked AND unlocked. I was releived that it worked. Unfortunately once i drove and parked and tried to lock again - it didnt work . Needless to say it doesn't always work, ususally if i lock the doors with the key and come back more then 30 minutes, it unlocks keylessly.
The remote LED light turns on when i press any of the buttons so i know the battery is fine. I already opened the remote and confirmed the contacts are working properly. The only thing i haven't tried to do is reprogram the keyless remote (which i dont think is necessary).
Random symptoms - there are 3 circular dials (fan control, fan speed, temperature control) in the centre console. Originally ONLY the center dials LED lights would turn on. Now randomly the 3rd dials LED lights turn on again. I wanna start checking fuses but would like to know where to start.
I had two 12" subs running in my 09 corolla. The front right door speaker and little tweeter speaker stopped working so I took the subs out. I figured the speaker was blown so I ordered new ones. When I installed the new door speakers, they didn't work.
I know for a fact it is not the speaker that's faulty because I tried them on the driver- side door and they worked. So my passenger side door and tweeter speakers aren't working. Do I need to order a new tweeter speaker as well? Like does the tweeter need to be working for the door speaker to work? And vice-versa?
I have a OEM base model head unit and today both front speakers stopped working out of nowhere I pulled the head unit out to see if everything was plugged in and it all was snug.. I checked all the fuses too. Is there any other way to check to see if its my head unit thats bad or the speakers? And I guess my second question is if I replace my head unit with a aftermarket one do I still need to retain the stock unit? My sunfire had that problem I needed to put my oem radio in the trunk and hook it into my new aftermarket one. I did try adjusting the fade and all the setting too with no luck.
View 3 RepliesMy wife's 2009 Corolla S has 107,000 miles. Early on it developed a low idle and vibration while stopped at a light. It was idling about 600 rpm after it warmed up. It never stalled but occasionally vibrated. After doing some research I found some were having success cleaning the throttle body and throttle plate. I did that along with changing the spark plugs. At that time I disconnected the battery to reset the computer. She has put about 2,000 miles on it since then and it never idles below 800 rpm. The vibration hasn't been back either.
I believe it was the throttle body/ plate cleaning and disconnecting the battery that resets the computer that fixed it. The plugs still looked good at 105 K miles, but I had new ones so I put them in. I bought a can of Berryman b12 choke & carb cleaner and sprayed a little on the throttle body and plate and then sprayed some on a rag and wiped down the body and plate. It was quite dirty.
My wife and I have a 2012 Corolla S built 05/12 with 14K miles. We traded in our '06 Corolla S with 190K and we loved that car. I performed all the maint on it and at 15K oil changes using Pennzoil Platinum and then Pennzoil Ultra, it never used a drop. On a trip over the weekend, the "maint reqd' lamp came at 4200 miles into the dealer performed oil change on the 2012. It came on steady while driving which I thought was odd. I tried to perform the reset as I did on the '06 to no avail. I watched a YouTube video and still no good.
I hold the Odometer post in and turn the key to the run position and wait. I am not getting the 5 dashes within the odometer display or any change. On the YouTube video I saw how the dashes do a countdown and then the lamp is extinguished. Mine is not doing that and I have continued to hold the Odo post in for over a minute and nothing changes. I have tried this over a half dozen tries with no success. I read something on-line that said if the previous maint codes are not properly cleared in the ECU, that this can happen? I do not have a scan tool, the car is under the full warranty and I know I can just take it in, but I was hoping to resolve this without doing that.
I removed my key and was about to go to the store but when i walked across my car, I noticed my engine was still running. I go to place my hand on my good and it is still running with my key in my hand. I go back into the car and realized some of the dash lights are still on. Key still removed. Gear shifter is locked. I step on my brake pedal to see if that will shut it off and it still doesnt work and is left on. Only way to turn off the car is to disconnect the battery.
View 1 RepliesI have really driven my Corolla until the stereo system stopped working a month old. The audio just stopped during one rainy day when I was playing a CD.
The stereo unit appears still functioning and I was able to take the stereo out and un-plug/re-plug in the 4 wires connectors in the back. A couple of times, by doing this, the audio came back for 10~15 minutes and then went silent after that.
So, what could be the cause of the issues? Could it be there some short in the wiring? How would trouble shoot this issue further?
Checked the fuses under dash and under hood. Fuses look fine. The only things that don't power are Radio, Clock and side mirrors.
Everything else is fine. Recently changed battery BUT after new battery everything worked solid for days.
Recently got a transponder key made because old key broke.
If fuses are fine i'm not sure what else it could be.
I have a 2011 Toyota Corolla S 5 speed manual and after 15000 miles I noticed a ticking noise in my engine bay and goes away once I push down on the clutch, but once I get off the clutch the noise comes back. Is this a normal thing or should I be concern? I have 75000 miles on my car now, is it covered through the extended manufacturer warranty coverage of 120000 miles?
View 4 RepliesI'm having a problem with my remote lock/alarm system in my 2010 Corolla LE. The driver door suddenly stopped locking and unlocking with the remote. The other 3 doors work fine, but the driver door won't work. When I lock the driver door with the key and press the lock button, everything locks and unlocks like normal. If I wait awhile and try to unlock the doors again, the driver door lock again won't work.

View 4 RepliesThe 12 V power outlet on my 2009 Corolla has quit working. Checked the fuse and it is not blown still no adapter works when plugged into the socket. The car just turned over 36,000 so it's now out of warranty (good thing the water pump failed at 32,000). The owners manual only shows fuses in the engine compartment is a separate fuse block for the dash that could be blown or perhaps a disconnected socket or wiring problem. How to access the back of the 12 V power socket? BTW my dealer has informed me that since my cars VIN begins with J it is not affected by the gas pedal recall. Haven't seen this anywhere so thought I'd share it.
View 13 RepliesI have a corolla 2010 S and I think the blower is not working properly. It work in all speeds but in the max speed (4) you could hear and feel that the air flow varies. There is a little noise coming from the glove compartment. I already change the cabin air filter and still do it. I have to change the blower ?
View 1 RepliesI have an '09 Corolla S with the non-JBL sound system, 6 disk in-dash changer and 6 speakers. I am getting no sound from the speakers except a small burst of static when I turn the ignition on and once in a while sporadic static. The Radio is still playing CD's, FM, Etc, but no sound. All fuses are good and the clock works. I disconnected the factory iPod interface and still nothing. I also tried a different aftermarket HU, but still no sound... I'm on the road all the time so I'm over 50,000k and there is no warranty left on the radio. I've also torn the dash out checking wires and connections and can't seem to find anything abnormal.
