Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Code P0500 - All Error Lights Are On

Oct 21, 2015

I have the code P0500 on my 2009 Matrix. The odometer doesn't function, all error lights are on, the power steering is not completely out but it's reduced. Also, the rear windshield wiper is constantly on. I replaced the vehicle transmission sensor today because I thought that would fix it all. It had absolutely no effect.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: P0500 Code - Vehicle Speed Sensor Malfunction

My car is now 24/7 with this error which is Vehicle Speed Sensor malfunction an there seems to be no way of solving it, symptoms are:

*Speedometer not working, needle always in 0
*Power steering not working
*Car wont past 3rd gear
*Check engine light and power steering light on

I checked all 4 speed sensors and the wiring looks good and they look good. Also if i hit a bump, issue goes away for a couple of minutes, until i hit another, etc, so looks like a wire or short circuit, cant tell. Is there a speed sensor on the transmission as well? where is located?

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: OBD2 Error / P0304 Code / Cylinder 4 Misfiring

Went on a trip Sunday, and i saw my engine light come on after i put gas in the car. I pulled over, re-checked the gas cap, and it was fine. Car felt fine.

When i got home, i used my OBD2 scanner, and got the error P0304 Code - Cylinder #4 Misfire. I cleared the error and drove the car some more, no issues.

Yesterday, my wife took the car and she said it was hesitating and sputtering, but the light hasn't come back. I have an appointment at the dealer tomorrow, the car has under 80,000k, so the warranty should kick in.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: P0031 And P0172 Error Codes - Car Sputters And Hesitates

My girlfriend drives an 09 corolla (1.8L I believe). I have an OBDII bluetooth reader w/ Torque App so to identify the issue I can get some data:

Last week I was driving the corolla and I got P0031: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1). Car seemed to run fine without any issues. My girlfriend brought her car in to her "mechanic". "mechanic" who will replace have of your engine only to realize that your gas cap was cracked. He apparently replaced 02 Bank 1 Sensor 2 (I'm still trying to confirm this and to get the part # to make sure). He reset the ECU and she drove for about 30 miles after which these codes popped up:

P0172: System too Rich (Bank 1)

P0101: Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem

The car was idling rough. I reset the codes and the car was running fine until all monitor systems were ready. When Catalyst, 02 Heater & 02 Sensor are not ready everything is running fine and I don't see any error codes. I cleared ECU a few times. The last time I was able to drive for over 20 miles without any issues. Currently the only sensor not ready is 02 and car is running fine but I have a feeling once its ready the car will start having issues again:

Summary (if you don't want to read everything)

*P0031: H02S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 1) - Car runs fine

*Mechanic replaces 02 Bank 1 Sensor 2 (Trying to find part # and double check sensor name)

*ECU reset and car runs fine for 30 miles

*P0172: System too Rich (Bank 1) and P0101: Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem

*ECU reset - car sputters and hesitates

*When all monitors are ready same codes (P0172 & P0101)

Camry :: 2009 - Check Engine Light On / Error P0500

Currently I haven't been tweaking anything to my car after driving to go and home I left to go get something to eat and after driving for a few min out of nowhere the engine light, brake and abs comes up. So I freak out a pull over to the nearest gas station and turn my engine off for 2 min and turn it back on and this time only the engine light come up. So I drove to autozone to get it scan and error p0500 comes up. Which means short circuit, vss and poor electricity something I am not exact but is it serious? Like I am freaking out right now.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: P0441 Code Came On

My Corolla has the P0441 code, but not the typical 0445 code that comes with a loose gas cap. I cleared it and it came back (yes, I checked the gas cap). Googling the issue, I found service bulletin SB 0392-08, which implies the ECM could need to be replaced if the issue is not in the Evap system.

I have a 2009 corolla LE with 81,000 miles on it. Today after I got gas, the check engine light came on. I checked the OBD code and it said P0607. I cleared the code and continued to drive it and it ran fine and the light has not came back on yet. I'm a little worried about driving it on long trips now.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Exterior Lights Dim When ABS Engaged?

We got a lot of snow here in the last 72 hours and so driving on the roads has been a bit more slick than usual.

But last night I found a patch of snow that I thought I'd test my traction on (lots of room, nobody around, etc.) and while the ABS worked very effectively and I stopped with full control... I noticed my exterior lights dimmed a fair bit.

Is this a normal thing? Never seen that before.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Interior Lights Are Not Illuminating

My center console, gear lights, and steering wheel control buttons are not illuminating. Could it be a fuse? If so, which one would it be? I looked through the fuse section in the manual and could not find anything about it.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: AC Dial Lit Up With Dash Lights?

I got a 2009 Corolla LE and I am wondering if the a/c dial lights up with the dash lights? Its been a while since I've been inside the car but I have this feeling that the dial used to light up. The dial has an on/off push button to activate the ac. That ac button does light up when depressed, the rest of it does not. if the dial does indeed light up, how would one fix this? is there a fuse or something just for the dial?

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Intermittent P0352 Code And Misfire

2009 1.8 Corolla . I'm chasing an intermittent P0352 code and misfire. Code points to coil pack #2 . Question is, which one is #2 ? I want to swap coils and see if the error follows the coil but I can figure out which cylinder is #2 and since all of the coil wires disappear into a loom, I'm not sure how else to tell.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Dashboard And Stereo Lights Not Working

At night, when I turn the key to "on". The stereo light (orange)'s illuminated but no light coming from the dashboard. Other lights on the dashboard -- e.g. engine check, oil, door indicators are fine. When I start the car, the stereo light's gone away and I still have no dashboard lights. I tried to change the channel, put in a CD, increase/decrease volumes but none of those activated the light. All other functionalities seem to be working fine.

I checked the fuse box under the dashboard console. All fuses look good to me. What might be going on or I just simply have bad dashboard light bulbs? What's about the stereo lights?

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: 2010 - Fog Lights Didn't Light Up

We just purchased a used 2010 LE model a couple weeks ago and for the first time actually drove it during the night. So I decided to check out how the fog lights look. Problem is, when I turned them on it didn't light up any of the road between the low beams and the front bumper of the car. In fact acted kind of acted as high beams. They are currently aimed higher than my low beams!!!

This doesn't seem right to me.

- Were the lights installed upside down?

- They should be lighting up the area on the road between my low beams and front bumper correct?

- Is it possible that they are able to be aimed that high if installed correctly?

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Check Engine Light Came On With Code P0352

I have a 2009 Corolla S w/ 79K miles on it and recently my check engine light came on with the trouble code P0352. The engine would misfire while accelerating and then was extremely rough when at a stop light. This issue and check engine light have been happening intermittently over the last few days. I don't really know anything about engines/cars but doing some research came back with the following...

Possible causes
- Faulty Ignition Coil 2
- Ignition Coil 2 harness is open or shorted
- Ignition Coil 2 circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Basically my question is how do I troubleshoot and figure out what the real problem is? I would rather not buy and replace the Ignition Coil if it is something else. From everything I have seen it seems the simplest method to test the coil is to switch out the ignition coil and spark plug on coil 2 with one of the other 3 ignition coils and see if the the trouble code follows it or stays on 2.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: 1.8L - Code P0301 And P0303 Misfire On Cylinder 1 And 3

2009 corolla 1.8l 155,000 miles. Replaced iridium spark plugs at 100,000

I got a CEL few weeks ago, P0301 Toyota - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

Car has been running bad for about 2 weeks now, excise noise on the highway, especially up hills.

Yesterday, I took a look, replaced the spark plug in cylinder 1, same results. Checked the coils using one of those flashing tools, all 4 flashed quickly, with no breaks in flashing. put it all back together, cleared the code, went home.

Took it out for a drive today, and it started running way worse. Checked the CEL, and now I have both P0301 and P0303 Misfire on cylinder 1 and 3. Barely made it home, ran VERY VERY bad.

Got home, and made a video of it. It just kept dying. Check it out here. [URL] .....

Also, when it does run, it almost sounds like I can hear excess air, its hard to hear in video, but doesn't sound right. Maybe air leak? How do I check?

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Car Crank But Wouldn't Start, Throws A Code

About 2 months ago I started having a problem starting my car. It would crank and crank but wouldn't start. Eventually it would start but threw a code for the camshaft position sensor. I figured I'd go ahead and replaced it. Still had the same issue after about a week without problems, except this time the crankshaft position sensor code.

I maintain my car very well, and it just recently passed 45k miles. It's a 2010 Corolla S.

Corolla / Matrix 2009-13 :: Scan Showing 10 Faults But Only 3 Code Numbers Were Given

The check engine light on my 09 Corolla came on so, after it continuing to stay on, I bought a OBD ll Code Reader. The scan showed 10 faults but, only 3 code numbers were given for the 10 faults. Each of the 3 code numbers appeared twice for a total of 6 out of the 10 faults indicated. The remaining 4 faults had no corresponding code numbers. Don't know why but, they just didn't. Even after multiple scans.

Here are the code numbers that did show.

P2401(twice)
P2402(twice)
P2419(twice)

According to the CD that came with the reader, this is what the codes mean.

P2401.. evap emission system leak detection pump control circuit low.
P2402.. same thing as above except control circuit high.
P2419.. evap emission system switching valve control circuit low.

Looking for more specific explanation to me what this all means then it has something to do with emissions. Is it something that should be of concerned? I have erased the codes a couple of times but after a day or two, the engine light comes on again. This has been going on for over a month now but, the car is working great. Last road trip, I got approx 52 mpg.
