I just had all my belts changed on my 2009 elantra. Now when I start my car it makes a loud squealing noise. it goes away after about 1 minute, we took the belt off that controls the air conditioning and still squealing.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 Elantra with 138,000 miles. I never had any slipping or jerking or reverse issues in the past. I got into the car put it in reverse just fine then put it in drive and nothing happened, I put it in park and the car kept rolling like in neutral and started making a loud grinding noise. When I put the transmission in any other gear the noise stops but will not move and acts as if in neutral.
View 2 RepliesI am getting frustrated with a loud banging noise in the front end of my Elantra. It happens when I hit bumps or dips in the road. I have replaced struts, bearings and mounts, sway bar links, control arm bushings and nothing will fix it. The ball joints and tie rods are tight.

View 5 RepliesI heard some noise when the steering is hard. The noise sounds like squealing or scratching metals. What will be the problem? Is it the EPS system or just the serpentine belt slipping on the alternator?
BTW, the mileage is about 137700.
So at cold start, my my car squeals but once I drive for a mile, it goes away. I think it is the belt. How can I test it to see.
As well, seems like it runs a little rough right now when I am sitting idle at a stop light. Could the belt be causing this?
I have a hyundia elantra gt 03 auto at 111k. When I am at a certain speed I hear a faint squealing sound on the passenger side. It only does it only when I am on the gas between 35-45 mph. it's very faint but you can hear it if the window is down or the music is off. Could it be a belt?
I had my timing belt replaced at 95k so I don't think it would be that. I also had my serpentine belt replaced about 3 times already but every few months it starts squealing again
For example: When I pull out of my driveway in the morning and turn my steering wheel i hear a LOUD squealing and it stops after a few seconds. it only happens in the mornings when the car has been sitting all night.
Also when I run over a puddle and turn the wheel it squeals very loud for a few seconds. It sounds like that when i accelerate but its not as loud and it is constant endless i let off the gas. It does not happen at any other MPH only between 35-45 ....

View 10 RepliesI've got a 2004 1.8T 4motion passat and when it starts cold in the morning it makes a loud noise for a minute or so then it stops and is normal again, I'vev been told by a local autoparts store that it is possibly the auxiliary/secondary air pump that needs to be changed to fix this poblem. if it is the air pump how hard is it to change and do u need any special tooling to do it or is it fairly straight forward to change?
View 5 RepliesSo this is a two-part question because that's the type of day that I'm having. 1st, I went out to start my car to find that it won't. The radio and lights come on, but it won't actually start, and makes a rapid, loud, clicking noise. I have a video of this however...
My boyfriend thought perhaps I need a jump start, so we were going to try that first but when we went to pull the latch inside the car to open the hood, we found that it doesn't work. So now we can't get the hood open.
So, I'd like to first know how I can get my hood open easily, and what may be going on with it not starting.
It's cold and raining quite hard out and I just took my car out to the store and when I pulled into the parking spot a very loud squealing noise began coming from under the hood (sounded like driver side). I turned the car off and restarted and it was still there. I turned it off again and started it and it was gone. I drove the car home without issue and restarted a couple of times with no noise. The car ran great otherwise. What that was? I know very little about cars. It scared the crap out of me--it sounded quite loud--more of a screeching sound.
View 18 RepliesWhen I was at about 40k miles I started to have this problem. Driving above 35mph the road noise started to get louder. I first thought it was my tires but the noise went away after driving about 1k miles. Now I'm at 72k miles on different set of tires and the noise is even louder. According to a few mechanic shops, they say that there is not enough air flow going into the engine. But I'm not sure if that's the problem. It's not under warranty anymore and I can't just take it to the dealer to find out what's wrong.
View 14 RepliesI have a 06 accent sedan and I have been having some issues with the back brakes that were just replaced prior to the motor vehicle being done the end of June. I had the brakes replaced and everything was working fine up until the middle of last week; now the brakes in the back are squealing like the warning plates are rubbing together again (loud high pitch squealing) what could be causing this...I took it back to where I had the brakes replaced and they did a check and said that it did not look like anything was wrong and they asked me when my front brakes were replaced, I told him they were replaced last August when I have a issues with a caliper freezing up and had to replace everything in the front (brakes, caliper etc). So long story short he said to keep driving and see if you can tell if the squealing is coming from the front or the back and come back when its happening or if you can determine which one it is..
View 13 RepliesMy 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (manual) makes a loud squealing noise (between the speeds of about 25 and 45. It usually starts making the noise once the car has warmed up (but does not always make the noise). It makes the noise when the car is coasting but not when I accelerate or brake. The noise seems to be coming from somewhere in the front end.
View 6 RepliesI have a 2009 Elantra with 150k miles. It has recently started making a squeaking noise when I make left turns. It only does it when the car is moving and only when the turns are moderate to sharp (not on gentle turns). It seems to be coming from the engine bay but I can't really tell for sure. I had the steering column replaced last year. I haven't had any warning lights or adverse driving effects. I have posted a video on youtube with the noise.
View 1 RepliesThere is a faint but noticeable clicking noise in the air circulation system in my Elantra.
Last year the heater went and a new fan OEM was put in. I started to hear it then to the best of my recollection. Did not report the problem to my service (a privately owned auto repair place.) until after last winter.
One fan was replaced after the heater repair. That's two and I thought the noise was gone. But lately I heard it again, returned to the repair shop and they checked the warranty and installed another with new warranty. Two of them could not hear it and it winds down to me as hearing things not there or looking in the wrong place.
The exit suggestion was that there might be something in the air ducts which bring air to the cabin.
The clicking (like a cricket is variable with the 4 position fan speed control-- silent at the off position.
The shop owner informed me that taking the dash off and going through the ducts is a big job.
I thought of using a high powered vacuum at the service station.
They told me don't blow any compressed air into the ducts ans that will blow the filters out of place and a big headache.
The fan is new for the third time. It is not obstructed though the installation today revealed a leaf. The the cabin filter is not to blame-- that was done a few months ago.
Having phantom noise problems that sound like a cricket or electrical short as described above-- variable with speed of the fan etc?
Daughter has 2012 focus, when starts up has loud squealing noise , then short time it quits until start up again. someone told her needed pulley bearings needed greased? if this is true how difficult is this to do and what is it?
View 1 RepliesI've had this truck almost 2 yrs now. It is not a 4 x 4. The trouble I am having is on the driver side. What happened first was while I was driving it i heard a loud squealing noise then a loud pop. After that the truck seemed fine I checked under it and everything looked ok. After that I drove it to a couple stores did fine but i heard the loud pop again. Once I left the store I was driving on the highway and it jerked to the left and i heard a grinding/rattling noise. I put my flashers on slowed down and every once in a while it would still pull to the right but the grinding noise remained constant. I parked it waited for a tow and i turned the truck around and drove it up the ramp there was another pop sound but I didn't hear the grinding. It seems to happen on and off. And it doesn't matter if I am turning or going straight.
View 2 RepliesHaving problems with Elanta 2009's electronic power steering system? I was driving my car and the power steering went unexpectedly almost causing an accident. I shut the car off and when it was re-started, it was working again and EPS light was off. I am taking it to the dealership soon to see what they will do. It has also been making a loud squealing sound for a few months now. It started out occasionally making noise when I would back up or turn the wheel to the side but is now squealing pretty consistently. I had it looked into when I got an oil change and no one can figure out what it is from. All of my belts were checked and are tight. I believe it's linked to the power steering.
View 30 RepliesI have a weird issue, whenever I'm driving in pretty wet conditions (or drive through a puddle and make a "wall of water") I hear a high pitched squealing sound. Sounds like it is coming from the front right (passenger side) of the car when driving in wet conditions.
View 7 RepliesOur Prius is only a year old with less than 9,000 miles. Everything has been fine with it and then yesterday I took it out of the garage and started to drive and there was the most horrendous grinding/squealing/scraping noise as I started moving from the front passenger side (UK passenger, so left looking out).
I stopped the car and had a look, as at first I thought I was dragging something, but nothing to be seen. Checked the parking brake was definitely not engaged. I then thought perhaps something is caught in the brake pads and it will go in a bit, however even hard braking didn't seem to change the noise at all.
Carried on (I was going about 7 miles), and as I drove it would gradually get quieter, and then get louder again, with the occasional "clang" sound almost like a spring under tension suddenly moving.
Towards the end of the journey it had started to go quieter again, but with the window down you could still hear constant squeal/grind.
Parked the car, was away for an hour, came back and set off home and the noise was totally gone. Entirely silent all the way back home! Now I don't know what to do - whether it will come back, or whether I should take it in to garage for them to look (even though it's now not making any noise).
