Daughter has 2012 focus, when starts up has loud squealing noise , then short time it quits until start up again. someone told her needed pulley bearings needed greased? if this is true how difficult is this to do and what is it?
View 1 Replies03 focus SE Wagon, Automatic Tran, has a bit of a problem. Whenever it gets driven through a puddle (big, small, paddling pool, etc.) it will make this high pitch squealing noise, and then when it gets shut off after driving through said puddle, will have trouble starting. (It will turn over, catch, run for .2 seconds & then the engine will cut out, but all the electronics will work) THEN! if you can get it started, it needs to be reeved constantly or it will stall when it idles. Lastly, if the conditions are ridiculously horrible, & you need to go some place, you have to '2 foot drive' the little beauty to whereever you're going. Now, she's been in to see the Ford mechanics and has 'stumped' them.

Back in the summer, I'd noticed an issue with it squealing when I first started driving it after it had been sat overnight or any extended period of time. After 3 trips to the dealership, they finally determined it was the serpentine belt and replaced it which did work. However, now a couple months since that, the noice is back and worse than ever. This is how every morning starts with the car now:
Reverse off the drive, press on breaks and hear a groan as I do so but no squeal. Adjust to 'drive' and accelerate and instantly hear a very high pitched squealing which continues until either a minute or so into driving or I drive faster than 50km/h, whichever comes first.
The level of noise it's making now is becoming unbearable. It's embarrassing and I'm worried something is seriously wrong. Just my luck too, the warranty ran out on the 18th of this month. I could probably catch a recording of the noise if needed.
Had very cold weather the past few weeks. Took my car out early in the morning last Thursday (after warming it up) and there was a loud squealing noise from the heater for about 2 minutes when I was driving five minutes from my driveway. Since then, I have this faint squealing noise that can be heard anytime that heater is on. It loud on the first two settings.
Took it to Toyota and they said it was normal due to the cold but from past cars I've owned, it looks like the blower motor could be on it's way out? Can this be true? Car has 11,000 miles on it.
When it rained recently, the windshield wiper started making a loud squealing noise whenever it would wipe down. When I would spray the windshield fluid, the noise goes away but returns when I stop. No noise when it wipes up or when the rain is light drizzle or very heavy. So only noisy when rain is medium to heavy.
I thought maybe something sticky got on the windshield so used a regular glass cleaner multiple times but it's still noisy. What it could possibly be???
I have a 2012 accent, while I drive this loud squealing happens. My car is under warranty but the techs have to hear the noise to do anything.
At 55mph the squealing gets so loud my music can't cover the noise. Around 70mph it goes away (still can hear slightly). When I come to a stop it keeps squeaking for few seconds then stops.
I have a 2000 Ford Focus with about 145,000 miles on it. When I'm driving I can hear a drumming noise. The faster I go the louder and more fast paced the drumming noise becomes. When I hit about 50 I can hear it, and the faster I go the louder it is. At about 60 the car starts to shake a little bit. When I'm going like 20 or 30 or so, it sounds like I can almost hear my tires turning if that makes sense. The noise is really loud and is starting to concern me. A friend said my CV boots are ripped, but before I take it into a mechanic I would like some non biased opinions.
View 5 RepliesI've had this truck almost 2 yrs now. It is not a 4 x 4. The trouble I am having is on the driver side. What happened first was while I was driving it i heard a loud squealing noise then a loud pop. After that the truck seemed fine I checked under it and everything looked ok. After that I drove it to a couple stores did fine but i heard the loud pop again. Once I left the store I was driving on the highway and it jerked to the left and i heard a grinding/rattling noise. I put my flashers on slowed down and every once in a while it would still pull to the right but the grinding noise remained constant. I parked it waited for a tow and i turned the truck around and drove it up the ramp there was another pop sound but I didn't hear the grinding. It seems to happen on and off. And it doesn't matter if I am turning or going straight.
View 2 RepliesSo I just bought a 2004 Ford Focus. I did not drive above 15mph when I tested the car due to the lake effect snow that was occuring. Now that I own the car I have noticed if you try to stop going over 20mph the car starts to stop but last second it lurches forward a little bit. There is also a grinding noise that sounds like its coming from the back and a loud vibration that sounds like its coming from underneath the middle of the car. I'm trying to figure out if it is the brakes, tires or a leak in a brake line (those are all things my dad said it might be).

It still makes the noise off and on while in 2wd. If I lock the hubs in it doesn't. What it could be ?

On my way home from picking up or new Voltage 5er, I could hear a loud squealing noise when we pulled up to the house. After crawling around the under side of the truck I found the last exhaust thermal couple had either blew out or just fell out.

There's a loud grinding noise from the front end of car when I turn the steering wheel... even when the car is off and in park.I can post videos of the noise if needed.
My 2003 Honda Civic Hybrid (manual) makes a loud squealing noise (between the speeds of about 25 and 45. It usually starts making the noise once the car has warmed up (but does not always make the noise). It makes the noise when the car is coasting but not when I accelerate or brake. The noise seems to be coming from somewhere in the front end.
View 6 RepliesI recently did an oil change on my wife's 4 cylinder 2007 Toyota Camry which has about 126.5k miles so i was suggested at Autozone to use synthetic 10w30 instead of the conventional 5w20 they put at the shop when my wife gets an oil change. So i did a oil flush and did the oil change with the new synthetic 10w30 and now the Camry feels really heavy and has difficulty accelerating at first. It also makes a really loud squealing noise (like when your breaks are bad) when it first accelerates. Should I go back to conventional 5w20 even tho it has so many miles? Is there anything else wrong that i should get checked?
View 14 RepliesI just had all my belts changed on my 2009 elantra. Now when I start my car it makes a loud squealing noise. it goes away after about 1 minute, we took the belt off that controls the air conditioning and still squealing.
View 2 RepliesI just bought a used 93 accord. The engine is in good shape and runs smoothly most of the time, but I have two issues.
First, when I start the engine cold, there is a very loud belt squealing for about 3 or 4 seconds. Is this a common problem and, if I isolate the belt at fault, what should I do about it?
Second, the engine revs (both audibly and on the tach) when I press on the brakes. I've been told by a friend it might be a vacuum leak?
Just noticed a loud squealing sound coming from the engine area before I start the truck, but with the key in the on position. I'll try to get a video the next time it happens. I assume it's something starting/warming up, but it's louder than anything I've ever noticed. It lasts probably 20 seconds.
View 9 RepliesSo the car was unused and sitting in snow for about 2 months. Now the car will not start, and actually does not make any noise when key is turned. No lights inside the car turn on. No automatic or electronic buttons work at all. Is this a totally dead battery or starter (since it makes no noise with key in ignition) or something else (e.g. electrical)? I tried to jump start the car which did nothing (but honestly not sure if it was done for a good enough amount of time... about 5 minutes).

View 7 RepliesAfter I took my Ford Focus 2011 to the dealership for a free oil change I noticed a subtle, low hum coming from the car when I hit speeds past 40mph. At first it sounded like the engine of a louder car driving near me so it took me a couple days to realize that it was actually my car making the noise. I intended to bring the car right back to the dealership to complain about this but I kept getting preoccupied with my studies for my summer courses. It's been roughly 3 weeks now and the low hum has gotten a lot louder now and can be heard over music.
The noise begins when I approach 40mph. The noise is probably at its loudest at speeds of 40mph-70mph. The noise is made even when I am not stepping on the accelerator or using the breaks. I haven't tried putting the car in neutral at those speeds. What might be causing that noise? Although I don't really trust the dealership since my car seems to manifest a new problem after each visit.
