My 2005 Elentra GLS, when I use the key remote control and hit the alarm activation button, the alarm goes off and lights flash. And I haven't even opened a door on the vehicle. I am not using the alarm function because of this issue. Is this something I can troubleshoot. Just purchased the car used from a used car dealer.
View 3 RepliesI bought my car from the dealership new in 2006. 2005 Elantra GLS 5 Door. I did not know that there was an alarm nor has it ever gone off before in the 7 years that I've owed it. Three years ago I had an autostart put in. No longer have original remotes.
Today I used my remote to unlock my car doors. When I opened the back door an alarm started to go off on my car and the headlights were flashing (no horn honking). I tried using the key to unlock in the door and in the ignition to make the alarm stop.
I unhooked the battery and as soon as I hook it back up the alarm continues. Called the autostart company and they told me the autostart didn't come with an alarm. I called the dealership and they said if it was a factory alarm that it would honk and not make alarm noises.
Found my original window sticker says "keyless remote entry w/ alarm" .. Other than having my car towed to the dealership, how can I make this alarm stop?
I have a 2003 Camry. Recently, the dash board signal has started to turn on i.e. Battery,abs,brake, etc. when I accelerate. Around 1000 rams the light come on,then will turn off below the 1000 rpms. Now, at 2000 rpms the heater fan will increase speed to maximum.
I had the battery tested and it checked out ok. Could this be the alternator?
Our Elantra never overheats or shows hot on the gauge but every couple months it is a little low on coolant. When I shut it down I sometimes get the sweet antifreeze smell. I see no leaks. Never a spot on the driveway. Just need to add a little. Car has about 80,000 miles. as a matter of annual maintenance I drain and fill the coolant and trans fluid once a year. Hoses are in good shape. The oil is clean and shows now sign of contamination. We Love this little car.
View 4 RepliesMy girlfriend has a 2005 Accent and recently we went to go drive it and the battery was dead. I noticed that when we shut the car off the black LCD Odometer display was staying on the dash with the power shut off and no key in the ignition. I figured out which Fuse it was under the hood and pulled it. The odometer lcd turned off and we also lost all of the interior lights.. When I ran the car with the fuse pulled the Odometer LCD would display normally but somehow the battery is still managing to drain even with the Fuse pulled.. Any wiring diagrams for the fuse panel under the hood or if it could be a relay that is still drawing power when the car is shut off..

I work 45 minutes away and usually drive home at night so I'd love to be able to see my speed again without relying on my GPS.
My car today suddenly will not "beep", nor will the lights flash, when I double-click to lock with the smart key. The smart key itself is fine, as it locks and unlocks properly. I know many people find the beep a nuisance, but I like it.
I just had my windshield replaced two days ago. Could this be the cause? Is it something I can fix myself, or will I need to take it into the shop? I'm hoping I can just quickly re-connect something that became unconnected during windshield replacement.
I have a 2014 Elantra, today it would not start, only loud clicking noise and lights flash. I moved gear shift to neutral same results, moved back into park same results. Do not think its a battery issue.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2002 (First Generation) and can not lock the doors with the remote. It will unlock with the remote (lights flash) but will not lock. I have checked ALL the doors and they are closed, not ajar. Assoc. battery is at 12.77 volts. I have tried another remote, same one that came with the car and that one will not unlock it either. Remote batteries are OK. When I try to unlock the car with the Remote, the lights don't flash and it tries to lock but then it unlocks--just like a door ajar????
View 4 RepliesSanta fe 2004 - When locking the car with RC, lights did not flash. Cause was hazard light fuse. To verify this, activate the hazard lights, if they do not work at all, check the hazard light fuse. When I replaced the fuse all issues were resolved.

For some reason was activated well I was in the store yesterday and I can not turn it off or start my car w/o it going off. I have tried unhooking the battery and resetting it as instructed by others but still keeps going off. I do not have a remote for it. How do I disable the alarm so I can drive my car again?
View 1 RepliesI just drove my 2005 Hyundai Elantra from California to Pennsylvania without a problem. Once I arrived in Pennsylvania I took my car in for a state inspection. About 24 hours later my car alarm kept repeatedly going off. Eventually it stopped. When I tried to start the car it was dead. About 3 days later I had the car jumped. It ran fine. About 3 days later the car alarm randomly went off. I turned the alarm off and ran the car for 30 minutes and it was fine. About 24 hours later the car alarm randomly went off again. I turned it off and started the car. It ran fine. I checked the hood switches which was suggested in another post and they appear to be okay. There also doesn't appear to be any water around the battery.
What else could be causing this problem? Do you think the mechanic who performed the inspection could have hit something--my mother has had problems with them causing new problems after fixing old ones? Could it be the alternator? Could drastic temperature changes cause the problem--it does seem to happen when it goes from bitter cold to warmer, or is that just a coincidence?
My sons 2005 Santa Fe alarm goes off whenever it feels like it. Is there a solution to fix it or can the siren be disconnected without pulling the fuse? Could it be a hood switch problem?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2016 Elantra GT with less than 1000 miles on it and I just started coming across an issue yesterday. I have had my ABS and trac light kick off on me and stay lit until I shut the car down, then it will start back up with no issue. I don't have a compatible scanner to pull the codes so I am not sure what in the system is kicking the light.
Its random when happening and I double checked that my wiring was all hooked up properly from the factory on all items included in the circuit. I also checked the wheel bearings just to rule out possibly having a bad one which I would find hard to believe with under 1000 miles on it even if faulty.
Are there any common issues with the ABS, traction, or stability control systems on these cars that people have come across? Obviously I'm under warranty so I'm not worried about getting it fixed.

View 3 RepliesAlarm went off when my wife started the car. Horn and lights started going on & off. My wife disconnected the fuse to the horn & then the battery was disconnected. That stopped the alarm; we hooked the battery back up & the horn fuse was reinstalled. We tried to start the car, but it only turns over. It won't run.
View 3 RepliesI decided to go for a stroll and about 10 minutes after heading out, sudden the Brake and ABS lights come on along with a screeching alarm sound from the cabin. I pulled over right away to check for leaks and my brake fluid. There were no leaks and brake fluid was full. I decided to head back home and when I turned the car back on, I lost most of my brake pedal and it became completely spongy and would sink down when depressed. I had to drive home with my emergency lights at about 15 miles per hr in hopes of being able to stop in time. I double checked when I came home, no leaks whatsoever.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2003 Elantra 2.0 with no spark, no codes... anymore. The car was driven about 6 miles, shut off, went back out to start it, it ran for 10 seconds then shut down. Now it will not restart.
What I did: As per some of the advice of others I replaced the crank sensor, cam sensor, ignition coil, check compression, pulled codes from the ecu with one being a crank sensor. I have power at the fuel pump during crank, i can smell gas during crank, plugs are dry just no spark. Timing belt and timing are fine, engine sounds as it should during crank but no spark. There is power at the coils, crank and cam sensors. MIL is on when key is turned and goes off during crank.
I'll provide as much info as possible concerning an all too common problem with these cars. The radiator (passenger side) fan will run for a few seconds when the AC is turned on, then it will shut off. It does not come on when the car is up to temperature. The AC condenser (driver's side) fan runs normally. Steps I have taken so far are as follows:
A. Replaced the radiator fan -- no joy.
B. Replaced the coolant temperature sensor -- no joy.
C. Replaced the thermostat -- no joy.
Coolant level is normal and there are no leaks in the system. The temperature gauge however, never rises above cold.
My questions are:
1. What are the next step(s) to solving the radiator fan problem?
2. Is there a separate sensor for the temp gauge, other than the one in the thermostat housing and if so, where is it located?
3. Since I live in AZ where it never gets very cold, I'd be perfectly fine with having the radiator fan run whenever the engine is running. Is there a way to wire it so it's always on with the ignition?
Took my 2005 Prius for an oil change. Dealer called and recommended fuel injection service because of carbon buildup and mileage (50,000). On my way home on a mild day with heat and AC off it didn't shut off at stop lights all the way home. Battery was charged. Never had this happen before and it's demoralizing because I really love my car!
View 19 RepliesI found out last night that all 3 of my brake lights are out. However, my tail lights work, and my turn-signals work. So obviously its not a big wiring deal. I was looking for the brake switch but i don't know where its at because i looked underneath. What fuse is the brake lights cause my manual doesn't have it listed. I drive a 04 Elantra GLS.
