2012 6.7 F250 with 17k miles. It's getting hotter here and the last couple of days when shutting down there is a sound coming from the engine compartment that sounds like an air pump on one of those load-leveling systems. It will go on for about 15 seconds then stop.

While driving first thing in the morning runs like a champ, as the engine warms up I start seeing the exhaust temps lower to 88-94, then I start getting over boost code with monitor reading of 41psi, then the Edge monitor screen will go blank, then the STALL... The excursion with start right back up but the shut off immediately. Wait 20-30 minutes in the shade and will start back up and run again poorly missing almost like turning the key off and back on... Then the next morning start all over again.
I'm thinking bad FICM or bad PMC over heating.. ??
My dad has a 2012 6.7 powerstroke with about 84,000 kms on it. Truck runs great, works great, but has a noise that sounds like its coming from a pump of some sort on the engine. I know nothing about these trucks and told him I would see what I could find out before we take it to the dealer to see if its a warranty issue. Video below.....
View 4 RepliesI changed my fuel filters a couple weeks ago. When I opened the hood the other day i noticed a kinda hissing or sucking sound coming from the engine mounted fuel filter. I've watched epics video a couple time and think his made the same sound but not sure. I am just paranoid with all the hpfp problems. It runs fine and had no long starts or hesitation at all. Lemme know if you all have the same thing. I just can't remember if it sounded like that before. I have done the air purge properly and several times since changing the filters. I notice the sound while doing the air purge procedure with engine off and key on.
View 3 Replies2012 F350 with 52,XXX miles and the P0401 keeps coming back with no degree of consistency, could be an hour later could be a week before it pops back up. just in th epast 4 days i have replaced the air filter (FOMOCO) and still same thing. there is no change in performance, just dont have that warm and fuzzy feeling since im about to head out to Colorado for 10 days with 5000 lbs of toys in tow.

I have a 2012 Ford F250 6.7 powerstroke. Truck has about 30,000 miles. Has been completely flawless and has exceeded all expectations. Well....I am experiencing my first hiccup.
I traveled yesterday. While going up a slight grade, running about 50 mph, 1000 RPM, 10PSI boost...truck started bucking and sputtering with weird sound coming from around the air box. It felt just like you had a blow out on the front right tire. My initial thought was i just had a blow out as the truck hopping. Well, once i let off the throttle everything went back to normal. It did this about 5-6 more times on the trip. When it would start doing this I would just let off the throttle and everything would go back to normal.
I've read a good a bit on this 6.7 and appears that turbo issues are common. Being optimistic, I am hoping this is something that can be fixed easily. Again, have had ZERO problems with this truck, runs great, and even now on the trip runs fine but now we have this intermittent issue that I do not like. I am very diligent in taking care of my equipment, have not abused this truck and all maintenance is current (actually a bit over kill). What the issue could be.
Have a problem with the gauges and radio shutting down sometimes.. Thought it might be a loose wire or something.. But noticed on the scan gauge that it would happen when the volts went over 16 volts.. Is there an external voltage regulator or is it just time for a new alternator..
View 3 RepliesMy 6.0 powerstroke keeps shutting off when I hit a bump. It's like everything died and reset and I loose all memory to stereo and everything. When I got to work and popped the hood I tapped on the battery cover by the pcm and it shut off again.

When Cold, and when I start out as I open the throttle, it suddenly sounds like there is not a piece of quieting stuff on the engine. I mean its like I can hear right into the engine itself.
I back off, It goes away then I dont hear it again for another Month or two.
I have an air leak sound coming from I believe the driver side. Sounds like an air line from a compressor leaking. Could see anything obvious last night or hear well over engine. When driving it's pushing more air. Nothing looked/felt loose. Didn't find any air blowing were I could stick my hand in a hot engine. Doesn't seem to have performance issue, maybe a little more turbo delay.
View 3 RepliesToday I drove to dinner in my 2012 6.7 with no problems then on the way home my brother said he noticed my truck was white smoking quite a bit and he said there was a very strong exhaust smell coming from my truck ( he was in his car behind me) I ran a diagnostic test and what came up was code P0401 (I believe that's right). Need to figure out what is going on with my truck before I take it to the mechanics and get charged up. The truck still has DPFs in it just has a DPF back exhaust and has a AFE cold air intake running on a stock tune. However I do have the DPF deletes and EGR delete sitting in my garage just haven't gotten them on the truck yet.
View 2 RepliesHaving transmission problems? Everything I've read before says these transmissions are better than gm Allison's and they can handle up to 600 horse before you gotta worry about beefing them up but mines starting to act funny.
How important is the transmission tune? My truck it's tuned with the spe hot tune and trans tune. Didn't like the way it clunk bang hard shifts though so I ran factory trans tune for a while but it felt very soft like it was slipping when I got after it on the performance setting of spe hot so I went back to spe trans file.
I get a little twang sound that sounds like it's coming from the trans between 3-4 gear shifts, initially only heard it after getting on it hard in performance but it's getting worse and happens on stock power level under light acceleration now sometimes. Also I lost all gears briefly and it wouldn't shift into manual at all when I stopped to turn around the other day.
Working fine in drive but when I shifted out to reverse it had nothing in any gear and manual wouldn't light up on the display. I shut it off and restarted the engine and it came back and worked fine after that but not sure what happened there, don't think it's good though. Did using the stock transmission file with the hot engine tune or the hard clunk bang custom trans file up my trans, freak malfunction?
The truck (2012 f350 6.7 lb cc 131,600 miles) started fine. Then while i was setting up the defrost i accidentally hit the ac button. Well I then hit it again to turn off. At that point the engine stalled. Which has never happened to me before. I started it back up which took a bit longer to get it to fire. It now says "Reduced engine power" and runs kinda rough. I thought well im at the end of my fuel filters life so why not change it since i had one. Well the. The FF housing broke. After replacement FF housing and filter it will no longer start. I took the filter back off and checked to see if it was cross threaded or sucking air. I checked that twice. Still no start cranks fast and strong. Codes are
P2138 something to do with the gas pedal
P0193 fuel rail sensor A high
P06A6 voltage on circuit A is whacky (paraphrasing here)
P0532 ac pressure sensor low
What would be causing this clicking sound coming from my front passenger wheel? Wheel bearing? It ONLY clicks when turning left.

I've got a strange squeal sound coming from under the hood only when truck is cold? It sounds like a bearing and after it gets heated up the sound stops. I talked with a guy thats a cummins guy and he said he had a similar issue and he had to replace the bearing in the turbo? Also when truck is warm it will still do it, like for instance, if I run in a store and truck idles for 5-10 mins it will do it only if I romp on it for a short while like 2-3 mins then again goes away. And if I'm idling or in neutral, hot/cold, it does not do it, it seems to be only under a load. Pull a 26 foot boat no problems.
I blocked off the hpop discharge tube to test for leaks, shop air. I am plugged into the oil rail drivers side, and keep getting a slight popping sound. The first time I did this it took ten minutes to start, so I replaced the top injector seals. The second time it did this after about four minutes, so I took the oil rail to the local shop and they did the ball tube orings in the rail, now I went to put it back on and it does it almost right away.
Am I just pushing the oil out of the injectors? is this normal or should I have NO air noise period? I guess I am not sure how these injectors work, where does the oil go after it enters the top of the injector? It seems like it's coming more from the top coil area, more so perhaps than under the oil rail.
What could be making the strange pumping sound coming from under my hood after I shut off the truck?? It sounds like a small compressor or pump running.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 F-250 6.7L w/8K miles. I have been struggling with this issue for 6 mo. The engine feels like its missing at low RPM. I would equate it to the feeling of a bad coil pack in a gas engine. The boost indicator drops to 0 for a split second then recovers. The dealer says they can't find the issue but went ahead and replaced the turbo. After the turbo replacement It got worse. This is an intermittent problem with no codes.
View 14 RepliesI'm a new Ford owner and my 2012 F250 is my first diesel. Recently, my truck has been having a problem with the engine loosing power, bogging down, shaking-pinging, every once in a while, like 1-2 times a week. When it happens, I can barely get the truck to do 50 MPH. It sometimes happens when the "cleaning exhaust filter" message is displayed, but also happens when it's not displayed. I recently read on the internet about HPFD failures.
What may be happening to my truck? Could it need Cetane booster? Also, how about scheduled maintenance. The owners manual (diesel supplement) says to do the maintenance once the message center says to change oil soon. The dealers here in AZ are pretty much saying 5 months or 7,500 miles. On my other trucks (which were gas), I would stick to what the owner manuals said because I thought how could they deny a warranty claim if you're sticking to what the manual says.
