Installed a 20'' light bar on my 2012 and when I turn on the Aux 1 uplifter switch my radio stations have static. This was not the case before the install. I have the hot wire tied into the Aux 1 (25amp) switch. Ground is run to drivers side battery ground. Do I need some kind of relay in line?
View 5 RepliesI just purchased a 2009 gs 350 a few months ago with 40k on it fully certified. I quickly noticed that most of the fm radio stations were static even local ones that I usually listen to all the time. Some stations would go in and out of static but too annoying for me to deal with. Ive tried turning random things on and off to see if it changes the reception but nothing works or makes it worse.
At first I thought I'd just deal with it, but then I realized how much radio I actually listen to. So I brought it to the local lexus dealer a few weeks ago to see if they could fix it. They replaced the head unit once with no success, so they ordered another one and replaced the original with it. They had the car for two weeks and when I picked the car up they said that all the stations come in except a couple.. Turns out it seems to be exactly the same as it was before, maybe slightly better. I want this fixed completely with no static at all especially since the car is certified and most things are covered.
I think it could only be one of three things the head unit, the rear windshield (where the fm antenna is located) or the wiring in between the two. Since they already replaced the head unit twice I think its safe to say its not the head unit even though they said they tested it somehow and that's what the problem was......
I'll preface by saying, my technical know how ends with swapping out lights. I'm sure this is an easy fix, but not sure where to look first. I recently got a pair of smoked out taillights and 3rd brake light and installed the tails..................easy job. Finally climbed up on the back to swap out the 3rd.............lights worked before I disconnected. Connected the new one, no go, so figured, I bet bulbs are out. Plugged original back in, no lights. Figuring I tripped a fuse somewhere.................any tips finding the right fuse?
View 6 RepliesWe have a 2009 Santa Fe SE and since we bought the car (the dealer said they would fix once we bought) there is static on all FM stations, even local ones. The dealer said there is nothing they can do since everything is working fine...FINE I said, 26K and I cannot hear the Radio! is NOT fine! So now I am dealing with Hyundai CS, and ready to drop this darn thing back off and tell them to keep it and they can sue me if they want to, since this is crazy.

I will be driving along and out of nowhere my batt light will come on and my gauge cluster,radio and windows stop working and the ficim volts jump to 15.5-16.5. This is an intermittent issue. Yesterday I put my multi meter on the alternator and I am reading 13.5 or so this number was done at idle and the batt light was NOT on .
View 14 RepliesLong story short: Got EGR Cooler and Oil cooler installed last week. New headgaskets and bolts. New down pipe. New orings on injectors. HPOP was installed 3 months ago before any of the above work.
Truck drove great for about 100 miles. Then stalled at a stop light. Restarted it. Drove another 10 miles. Truck then dies on me at 25mph. Wouldn't restart immediately. 10 minutes later it started. I drove it back home (couple miles). When i hit the last stop light, the idle immediately changed to crap. Very rough. Got home and parked it and since then I have not been able to start it.
I changed the EGR Valve, tried to start it and it wouldn't. Changed IPR Valve. Put all back together. No start. Cranked beautifully. But doesn't sound like it's taking fuel. note - no buzz/clicking from injectors and no fuel pump noise.
Here are my readings. FICM Sync - 1. I am stumped. I did recommended KOEO, checked emergency fuel switch reset, batteries are at 13.5 avg, checked harness wires and found one connector that wasn't snapped in cause the retaining clips were broken. Getting this connector replaced. Found another wire below chaffed. It is on the intake manifold. what is it for and could this be my problem? Pic below? This is where it connects to intake chaffed. The top of the two wires where they go into the connector were twisted around each other. Maybe wire to wire, maybe not. Would this cause my injectors to not buzz or fuel pump to not come on???
My mechanic put a used 2005 PMC in my 2004 powerstroke. Now tachometer does not work, trans and coolant temp guages don't work and drives as if it is stuck in 3rd. gear. Does it need flashed @ a ford dealer to sync the two together?

I just finished up oil cooler rebuild studs, blue spring and egr delete.
Now it looks like i have more injectors going bad.
I have 147,000 miles on the truck.
I towed my 32 ft/ 600lb travel trailer 115 miles into arkansas today. When I arrived at the campground, the engine was running rough and shaking the vehicle. I saw highs of 175 (trans temp) 1150 (EGT), 214 (ECT), and 224 (EOT).
I recently installed the canned trans tune from my new SCT X4.
I pulled codes (none), checked cylinder misfire count on scangauge 2 (none). In fact, all gauges on the SG2 were within spec. I popped the hood and let it idle for 15 mins. Temps all dropped down to what I usually see after normal driving (not towing).
The engine did start to calm down as it cooled, but still sounded a rough
I installed the Roll X on my truck on the 27th of June. On several occasions I have found one corner has come unlatched. I'm not sure if it is from the bed flexing when I go over a bump or what?
View 2 RepliesOne day I started my car and all of the lights came on and stayed on(ABS, Brake, airbag, seatbelt, exclamation point, etc). The next day only the airbag light stayed on. Then, the radio would change stations on its own. I told myself it was some kind of electrical problem and took it to the dealer. The person at the dealer assigned to me kept it two days and I got it back. The next day the airbag light came on again and stayed on. The radio started changing stations on it own again. I took it back to the dealer. He said the air conditioner hose got clogged by a huge spiderweb and other debris. He said he had a factory representative there and the problem was not a factory defect and would not be covered by my warranty. The total airbag system needs to be replaced and the electrical system. What should I do?
View 3 RepliesI've had the Ford Remote Access installed on my pickup for over a year now and it's worked great up until about a week ago when I changed cell phone providers from AT&T to Verizon. Now when trying to use the app I get the error code 00011000. I up-dated the app to reflect the new carrier but it still doesn't work. And yes, my subscription to the service is current. What I need to do to get this working again, with winter just around the corner I'd sure like to have this functional again. I figured I'd give the forum a shot before I resort going to the dealer.
View 14 RepliesI just bought the batteries I was asking about in this posting. Bought them at auto zone on my lunch hour today, they swapped them out right there in the lot, no problems. Watched carefully to make sure terminals were not crossed, etc. When I came out of work a few hours later, the #20 fuse for door locks was blown. I chalked it up to the battery change, and put a new fuse back when I got home. I come out an hour later to leave, and the fuse is blown again. I have not replaced it again, need to go get more of the proper amp rating.
No other changes to the truck other than the battery replacement. And that's the only anomaly. No other problems, nothing. Getting ready to head cross-country on a skiing trip, this Friday, so there really is no time to get to the dealer to get this looked at.
Picked up my truck from the local transmission shop yesterday and on the way home (less than 3 miles away), I noticed the ABS light was on. I turned around back to the shop but the guy behind the desk couldn't pull the codes (his mechanics smart with codes don't work Saturday). So I will head back tomorrow when his code-smart dude is back but was wondering is there anything they could have done during the tranny install to muck up the ABS system? Or do they need to do something because of the new transmission?
I checked the #15 5-amp fuse under the steering wheel but it looks good. Truck runs good to me and shifts fine in the 10 or so miles I drove it yesterday but I'm not savvy with transmissions or ABS.
I have a 99 Super Cab 4x4, 4.0, XLT. The radio has terrible static and the back lighting of the climate control goes off and comes on at different intervals. Are the two issues related?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2004 F250. Owned it for a little less than 4 miles (186k on the odometer) .. The other day making a routine run and the radio goes out. Stopped to check it out and found I had no power windows either.
Made it home, checked the fuse on the radio and its good and the the power window fuse is also good. Put a meter on the terminals and have no voltage going to them. What I need to look at???
I've got a KR with MyTouch Nav with a real annoying rattle behind the MyTouch stack right between the volume and the passenger's temp. Any pics or guidance on how to remove that grey trim piece so that I can get some felt or foam rubber back there?

View 8 RepliesLately (within the last year) after about an hour in the truck my radio will make an electrical pop sounding noise and then the sound cuts out for about one second. The pop is not very loud. It will do this about every 15 seconds at first and then after ten or so minutes it's every 1-3 minutes. Doesn't matter the source, it does it on all of them. The volume is at normal (adult ) listening volumes. Interestingly the subwoofer does NOT cut out which points me towards the amp inside the radio. It also seems as if heat may be part of the issue as it takes a while before it happens. If I turn the radio off and wait 15 minutes and then turn it back on it will work for a few minutes and then start popping.
