Moms 98 town car only blows hot air. I found out that the blend door was broken. Called Dorman and that is the only car they don,t make/ sell a replacement blend door for, just my luck. I thought about removing the old door completely and installing a 1/4 turn valve in the heater input hose. Kinda redneck but i can,t think of another way out.
View 2 RepliesMy 98 Limited started blowing hot air yesterday, even in Max AC. It even blows hot air out the defroster when the climate control is shut off. It started doing this 2 days ago, but I could still get sporadic cold air from Max AC, but now nothing. What could be the problem?

View 2 RepliesI have a 1998 Ford Ranger 4 WD 3.0 L Vulcan engine. When I turn on the AC it blows out hot air, in fact it feels like the heater is on. I have checked the pressures with a gauge and both high side and low side are within working ranges. Also when I turn it to some of the heater functions the AC compressor kicks on as well. I have tried turning the temperature dial between hot and cold but that doesn't seem to change anything.

(there is a valve I depressed similaR to a tire valve, I pressed it once some fuel dribbled out, and thats it, turned the key several times and not a drop off fuel. I went as far as checking the fuse, the fuse is not blown. what are my next steps of trouble shooting.

View 2 Replies98 F150 2wd 5.4 -even though VIN says its "W" 4.6; it has a 5.4 with 4.6 timing setup-found. But that's a whole other story...
So, Replaced heater core. did the blend door too.
A week later it overheated and blew a heater hose off the core at the firewall (several times). Temp was up and down, forced me into cylinder head protect mode, so i called my mechanic.
Mechanic used a sniffer (blue liquid turns yellow) in my overflow tank and there was exhaust gas in it... so we replaced head gaskets, intake, timing, water pump, radiator and the rotted out rad support.
Got it done and back on the road, but a few weeks later and the heater hose quick disconnect blew off again, spewing coolant all over (again). This was what we thought was part of the original problem- head gasket allowing cylinder compression into the coolant passages. the little rubber hose that comes from the back of the intake and goes up into the heater core builds enough pressure to pop the disconnect right off and I dont know why. Like I said- I thought it was the head gasket blowing pressure into it but that's all been replaced. Why the pressure would be so high at that point, and how do I correct this?
This is my daily driver, so for now I've bypassed the heater core, but I'm afraid that pressure is gonna burst a hose and/or fitting again.
I have a 1998 f150 4.6 that has a problem with the heating system. It's blowing out a little warm, but "far" from what it should be. ( on a scale from 1-10, I'd rate it about a 3) I am puzzled because I flushed the radiator, changed the thermostat, and there a no signs of heater core leaks inside,hose leaks on firewall, or radiator/water smell present. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I did notice the top radiator hose was hot, but not the bottom. I don't know what else to look for.
View 5 Replies1998 Ford Mondeo. Yesturday I changed my air filter and went for a drive today and realized, that air is only coming through the vents right under the windscreen. I am pretty much car literate but cant afford a mechanic... Research I've done (on the net) shows the problem has something to do with the aircon no longer blowing out of my front vents where the A/C is supposed to blow out of, instead it was blowing out of the defrost vents along the windshield. The air will blow high, med, low, cold warm, ect just only through the vents near the wind shield. It has something to do with the vacume?? and the firewall...??? Apparently??
Where to start to get my aircon working again.. Pretty positive I installed and reset the fitting for the air filter correctly. I had my bonnet up so it can cool and I could change the filter and the wind blew it down, and may have something to do with it, I cant see any damage though..
98 5.4L v8 and the obo stopped @359999 after i bought it and put a new engine in her, but my truck is blowing white smoke out of the vents. i have been told could be the heater core, radiator line ... not sure.can anyone help me with this?
View 5 Replies1988 4.0 - noticed fuel mileage going down and an occasional stumble for a while but now I am getting some black smoke more when I let off the throttle than when I going down the road if I rev the truck get all kind of black soot all over the floor otherwise runs fine idles fine the iac has been replaced air filter replaced check the fuel pressure regulator for any gas leaking into the vacuum line and its clean.

Drove the truck on a trip the other day, about 650 miles with a loaded 5x8 trailer in tow. A/C started acting weird. When the truck was on level ground, or going down hill, the A/C was fine. Cold air coming out the correct dash vents. As soon as I started up hill, or put the truck under strain of acceleration, the A/C would stop blowing out the dash vents and would start coming out the floor or defrost vents, or just not come out anywhere.
When I turned the A/C off and just used the vent setting, it would do the same thing with the fresh air. I guessing this has something to do with my vacuum lines, somewhere. What I should be looking for and where?
Ok, I have a 98 F150 XLT, standard cab, 8 ft. bed, 2WD with limited slip - if any of that makes a difference.
The rear axle vent tube is literally blowing oil out the top, where it's loosely connected to the bed. It does this every few weeks. I pulled the hose and ran a rifle cleaning rod down it to make sure it wasn't plugged ... it wasn't.
It seems like it's building up pressure somewhere, then blowing all at once, but why?
I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.9 the ac blows hot I've replaced the ac compressor the evaporator and the accumulator I even did a ac vacuum on the lines their are no leaks.

But when I leave after they say, 'it seems fine now,' a few miles later the cold air starts blowing through the defroster vents, still nice and cold. Then it comes back down to the dash and then goes back up to the defrost. But sometimes it stops blowing altogether, it doesn't blow anywhere! Nothing, not even warm air. And then later everything is fine again, until it happens all over again and I take it to another shop when I hear 'it seems fine now.'.
View 2 RepliesASD Fuse keeps blowing. I unplug PCM and fuse no longer blows. I plugged in pin 41-80 and the the fuse is still ok. Car just quit running and starter will not turn. Does pin 1-40 control starter and fuel?? Could I have a bad PCM??
View 2 RepliesRecently, my car had started having cooling issues. It was running hot, into the danger zone, and it would not blow hot air. I took action and replaced the thermostat myself, drained the coolant, and bled out any air bubbles, filled it up with coolant and the problems still persisted.

View 1 RepliesTwo years ago, I purchased a 1998 Honda Accord LX from a local dealer. I've had very few issues with it. However, shortly after I moved from Michigan to Florida, I began to notice a strange issue with my car. While the car is running and the engine is idling, I lose AC inside the car and the engine heat slowly begins to build.
The AC isn't shutting off, but instead blowing out warm air. The engine heat builds at a concerning enough rate, moving from a normal level to almost maxing out the gauge in the span of 20-30 minutes. This issue seems to auto-correct itself while the car is in motion, with the AC putting out nice, cool air and the engine heat staying at a normal level.
The car currently has about 269,000 Miles on it. I have been told the problem is likely a faulty thermostat, but I'd like a second opinion. What might be wrong with my car?
It works great for the first 5 minutes and gets icebox cold. I can almost see my breath then the system starts blowing warm air and stays that way. I've had the coolant recharged and the shop tells me there is nothing wrong with it. Of course it works for them.

I'm not sure if two problems are connected but I do want to get both fixed without spending $$$ at the dealership. Where can I start?
