I've got a 2000 ex limited with the v10.4x4. The engine light came on. So I had it scanned. Also the a.b.s light is on.and the overdrive off light was flashing but now isn't. The parts store that scanned it said code was po500. Told me it's a speed sensor but that there's 3 of them on the truck. Which sensor it is.

Check engine light comes on and the code is P0500 . It calls for a VSS but I cant locate it. Also the fact that it did after washing the truck is making me think its a wiring issue... View 5 RepliesCurrently I haven't been tweaking anything to my car after driving to go and home I left to go get something to eat and after driving for a few min out of nowhere the engine light, brake and abs comes up. So I freak out a pull over to the nearest gas station and turn my engine off for 2 min and turn it back on and this time only the engine light come up. So I drove to autozone to get it scan and error p0500 comes up. Which means short circuit, vss and poor electricity something I am not exact but is it serious? Like I am freaking out right now.

View 7 RepliesI have a Lexus es300 1995 and lately its been acting crazy. It all started when I had to push the pedal all the way down just to get to 60 mph and when i took my foot off the pedal the car almost stopped completely, would not coast well. Then the check engine light came on. Took it to dealer got codes p0500 and p0720..they said get a new ecm and dash cluster. Got both used from a junkyard. Car drove fine, then check engine light came on again and drove crazy again.
I was told the ecm needed no programming just plug and play ..is this right? Did I get a bad ecm? Coud it be another problem?
I have read several of the post on here about speedo's acting up, but I'm not finding anything that pertains to my specific problem. A few months ago I bought a 2000 Excursion, it currently has around 179,000 miles on it. When I got it the ABS light was on and this site is actually where I found out to replace the sensor on the rear end to fix that. My problem is that until a few weeks ago even with the ABS light on my speedo worked just fine and then it started acting up every time I hit the brake pedal and then eventually quit working all together and my cruise control light would flash as well as the OD light.
I replaced the sensor in the rear end and also found out about a recall for the cruise control and had that repaired as well. Now the ABS light is no longer on and the cruise light is not flashing, however the OD light still flashes and 95% of the time my speedo does not work at all. On Monday while heading to town it started working, hit the brakes and all was good, set the cruise control and used it all the way to town, but as soon as I hit the brakes the needle started jumping around and went back to zero and stayed there. I have ohmed the sensors and wires from sensors to harness under the hood and all seems good. The only code I can pull with my meter is P0500 which is just a generic code.
My sister-in-law just came home with a P2069 code. I can't seem to understand how to use the search feature here, every time I enter the spam code its invalid even when I am entering it correct...

My check engine light came on, and I went to autozone to get the code read. The code was P0446, "a malfunction in the electrical circuit for the vent control in the evap emission control system." I was wondering if this could be a simple fix...would cleaning the EGR valve do anything to get rid of this? Maybe this could work, but before the light came on, the amigo was taking awhile to start up (usually 4 cranks, with me pressing on the gas). And oh yeah, the check engine light didn't pop up until after I let the car sit for 12 days, while I was on vacation.
I also have a side problem...when I turned on my car for the first time after my vacation, besides the check engine light popping up for the first time, my ABS light also came on. I've tried the whole turning off, turning on the car and driving real slow process, but the light remains on. It just seems really interesting that both lights came on right after my car was sitting for awhile.
I'm thinking about taking the amigo to the dealership to get it checked out.
I have a 2000 Toyota solara. Everything runs fine. No misfires or weir sounds. But the check engine light has been turning on and off. It turns off at random times and usually turns back on after I get gas. I finally got the code scanned. It is P1410. While at autozone I got a new gas cap based on prior postings and filled up the tank to see if that trick would work. To my delight, the cel turned off upon starting the engine. It remained off for thirty minutes before it came back on. So now I am stuck with the code.
View 4 Replieswhile scraping ice off the windshield this morning with the car warming up, it started to choke, engine light came on. Used my OBD reader and found only one code, that being p0740. Cleared the code and all was fine after that, it drives the same way it always has and nothing feels different, revs are the same shifts gears the same. I know it had something to do with the torque converter clutch.

I have a '00 accent, just purchased a few days ago from a private party, when I bought it, I had a mechanic look it over, gave me the OK and said it passed inspection, no mechanical or obvious running problems with the car.
So I was driving around yesterday and the check engine light came on, took it to get the oil changed because I wasn't sure last time it was done, had the oil changed, light stayed on.
So I took it to auto zone to read the error code, was given this information. How to proceed?
First owner, 192000 miles. Check engine light came on during last winter, I put fuel injector cleaner with gas and it went away for a while. It came back on, if i reset, I can drive for about 50 miles before it comes back on line. Also, may be two or three times a week, when moving after a stop, the vehicle stalls, i have to take the feet of the gas pedal and give gas again.
I called up the dealer asking for fuel filter and fuel injector parts prices. Fuel filter is in the gas tank and not meant to be replaced. The fuel injector I was told 4 x $155 each. For diagnostics they need $100
See attached, I was able to clean sensor 1. I could not unscrew sensor 2, the screw is rusted, plus there is no room to get a longer screw driver and turn.
2000 Tacoma v6 has has always ran good, but has check engine light code P300 & P306. cly 3 & cly 6 missfire, lean bank 1. Vacuum test showed no problems.
I've changed plugs & wires, switched coils around cleaned mass air flow sensor, checked timing. Ran Seafoam through intake, and gas tank. Check engine light went out for about three miles, then came back on. What else can I do to keep that blinking check engine light off?
Mystery issue with my 2001 Accent GSI (5-speed manual, 1.6 L). I'm getting a P0300 error code and the Check Engine light (the light is like an old friend, I miss it when it's not on). This happened four months ago and I replaced the ignition coil - seemed to fix things - but now the light and the error is back with a vengeance. Car stumbles and runs rough. Changed the plugs and plug wires, but no difference.
BTW, there's a small pin hole in the upper part of the gas tank (just enough to give it a gassy smell when the tank is full) but I don't think the hole would be big enough at this stage to cause the check engine light to come on in the same way it does if you leave the gas cap off or loose.
2000... I have a code P0171 bank 1 too lean. My question is does this exclude anything that will effect both banks? If it was MAF sensor or fuel filter would it set code and say banks 1 and 2 running too lean? In which MAF sensor ohms out correctly. I cannot view fuel trim files. I have looked for a vacuum leak with no luck. I got some cigars to try to smoke it to see if there is any vacuum leaks. Trying to narrowing what i need to checks.

I wrote an email to Hyundai Corp. Asking what would be the most likely part that will cause the (P2188) check engine light to come on.

On Friday afternoon the ABS light on my dash came up, ran the codes on my SCT Livewire and came up with a "P0500 Vehicle Speed Sensor A"
What should I be going after? Rear speed sensor? Front ABS sensors? Transmission speed sensor?
Speedometer is functioning 90% of the time, twice in the last 48 hours it wouldn't then shift hard and I would pull off to reset.
I have looked over the search results and wondered if there is a way to test the sensor with my multi-meter? Seems quite a bit of people had flashing over-drive light's at the same time, which I do not.
My 99 F250 with a V10 had an abs light come on and then it would go off. Now the ABS light stays on and it drove fine for a little while but the other night the Service Engine light came on along with the ABS light. Tranny was shifting harsh, winding out and I scanned the codes and got P0500. Is it the sensor on top of the rear differential or is it the ABS light causing the problem?
View 2 RepliesI bought the little car to get off my motorcycle and its done great. But, after a couple trips around town my check engine light came on, and I imiditely noticed a change in my idle and engine performance. Im assuming my engine changed the air/fuel ratio to account for the sensor indications. My initial code read came back with four codes which said something about spark, and O2 sensor, and emissions. I went ahead put new spark plugs, gaped them as well as replaced the first O2 sensor.
After that I reconnected my battery and sure enough no engine light and my idle felt even better than before. (by the way my old plugs looked normal) But shortly down the road the light came on again. My idle did become a little different but not like my first encounter with the engine light. My power too seems a bit degraded, as well as the engine's sound. As of right now I am only reading one code P0422, which I do not see in the manual. I read online that its probably my catalytic converter or my engine is running at an improper air/fuel ratio. I am praying that it is not my catalytic converter and just my engine computer throwing things off.
Other things which may serve as clues:
Slight valve cover gasket leak (I will change the gasket when I do my timing belt job along with other seal and probably the water pump)
When pumping gas I can get about 90 cents in at a time, now more like 40 cents since the Saudis lowered our gas prices. Assuming I've got some kind of venting problem.
Car has 107K manual shift.
Vehicle is a 1996 Aero* XLT, 4.0 engine with 155000+ miles. I'm getting the P0500 code with the OD light blinking. Tranny is not shifting properly. Did not look at the speedo or check the cruise due to worry about making it to my driveway. I have had ocasion to set the cruise to 45MPH and at times it will drop out. I don't know the lower limit on the cruise. Is this speed sensor the same as the VSS...

I already dropped the trans pan, looking for a step by step easy way to diagnose and find the short or if i need to replace any of the solenoids. I have voltmeter and taste light....
