After doing some extensive searching it appears Kenwood is well liked as far as their in dash GPS/touch screen units. I know there is one model above this one that is more expensive and one or two under it without the WiFi features etc. that are less expensive.

I have a 2005 model, which I bought used a few months ago. I've loved most of the car, but the issue I struggle the most with is the fact that the back is really quite difficult to see out of. I find myself looking all around instead of just back, as I used to do with my 2005 Camry. I have the model without the backup camera, nav, or bluetooth (I don't know if thats base or not, because I still have Smart Key entry)
I was wondering if its possible to simply get a Toyota camera and install it with the MFD I have installed, or if I'd have to change the MFD as well. If I have to change the MFD, do I have to get a whole new wiring harness or simply switch the unit?
I installed a alpine power amp - keeping the factory head unit. It sounds much better but I lost the illumination of the buttons on the head unit. I used the Metra connectors and matching the colors and adding wires to connect with the amplifier. There is 12 volts going to the head unit on the orange and white connector but no illumination of the buttons.

The local shop here suggested getting a set of F350 springs and they would take them apart and a leaf to the front and rear springs.
View 2 RepliesI have an 2015 450 chassis Class C motorhome. The backup camera is integrated into the Pioneer stereo in the dash. The stereo is wired into the headlight switch to automatically dim the display when the lights are turned on. Since I always drive with my headlights turned on, this makes it nearly impossible to see the screen during the daytime.
I learned from Pioneer what to do to disable this feature, but need to install a switch in the circuit to do this. I'm hoping to install a simple on/off toggle switch into the dashboard's existing space. In the picture below, I'm wanting to put the switch into the "round" hole marked Audio Jack.
My question is how do I get the "round plug" out of this hole? And need to know the diameter of the existing hole?
I have the 2000 Ex. Tan leather seats. Two seats in the front. I need to add a third. I used to have a F150, that had a flip up/down center console. It was a seat when flipped up (the console became the seat back). What are my options with the Ex?

I am needing to add a relay, however, i need to strap the coil of it with a diode to protect the frigging cluster (the new dodges aren't very mod friendly!). My question is, should I add a second diode before the relay to protect the cluster against back emf, or will the one strapped across the relay coil be enough?
Since I am sure you're curious now, the cargo light (light that lights up the bed) gets its power from the gauge cluster of all places. I need to add a relay to the cargo light circuit to drive some other lights, and I am worried the back emf from the relay coil will fry the cluster circuitry.
I am interested in putting speakers in the barn doors of the Ex.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 F250 and it has the stock keyless entry. I would like to have remote start system as well. I know I can buy an aftermarket system, but I'd prefer to no cut any wires. Is it possible to add on the OEM remote start system that may have been used on a superduty or excision of this vintage? and if so, is it a plug in type installation? or do you still have to cut and splice the stock wiring harness.
View 12 RepliesMy third row gets used once in a blue moon. Usually the first two rows are enough. I have captains chairs but when I put the drivers seat all the way back it doesn't leave the middle row passenger much foot space, especially for how large the truck is. I've thought about buying a set of eBay sliders and putting them between the second row seat frame and the floor. That way I could keep all the factory features like the flip and fold, but still slide them rearward a few inches. I'm not sure I'll ever get around to it but I have had it on my mind a while.

Is the Excursion 3rd brake light from the F250/350 pickups like the rest of the truck... Or is it from an E-Series van like the tail lights?
In either case, is there a unit that has both the brake light and a bed/cargo area light? My rear window is tinted and I'd like to put a little light up high while I'm backing up... Just a little.
I really don't want to drill a bunch of holes for auxillary lighting, especially up high.

View 4 RepliesI have a 97 E-150 with A/C. When I turn on the climate control unit to either heat or a/c and the blower motor fan control switch to any setting I do not feel anything coming from any vents above or below the dash. However every once in awhile I can hear that it is putting a small strain on the motor as the motor tends to bog down a little like it normally does when the a/c is on. When the heater control unit is turned off there is no strain on the motor.
I don't want to go replacing things and blowing money that isn't necessary on parts that aren't bad. I would like to get this fixed before the cold weather actually gets here.
I have a 2004 Eddie Bauer with 16k miles. The AC control unit has randomly gone dead twice. When I turn off the truck and let it sit for a while (20 min last time) it will come back on and work fine. I took it to the Ford dealer while it was dead so they would see it. They told me however, that if it works when I bring it back they wouldn't be able to work on it. What was the problem? I'm going to Parker AZ this weekend and Phoenix next weekend. I don't want it to be intermittent or crap out all together when I am there.
View 14 RepliesSo as of last night my radio is not cooperating. I had the battery disconnected due to other work on the Ex and now I am having radio problems. When the key is turned the radio "buzzes", from the unit itself, not the speakers. It seems as though as soon as power is applied it is trying to eject a disc but no buttons are pressed. It lasts about 15 seconds and then stops. I also have CD error showing on the display. I have read the multitude of issues with the factory head unit but hoping I can fix it, maybe CD is just stuck?
View 8 RepliesLooking for the easiest route to get my video cable from a rear (aftermarket) flip down monitor back up to the head unit. The monitor flips down pretty much in line with the back rest of the 2nd row (for reference purposes). I am thinking to the side down the pillar and under the carpet might be the easiest.
