Ford Excursion :: Engine Knocks Badly / Revs Erratically And All Gauges Not Working

The other day I bought an sct tuner for my excursion and its been a little glitchy, likes to freeze up and lock out my ecu.

I was driving yesterday and today I try to turn it on and my engine knocks badly revs erratically and all gauges weren't working so i shut it off. I tried to start up again and it flashes the theft light and abs light. Won't crank won't do anything my whole engine is locked out.

So i tried reverting the ecu back to stock. I did this several times once it simply lost power and shut off at the end another time it said wrong vehicle and the final time it said completed.

Now when i try to start up it does the same thing and will not do anything but flash lights at me... When I downloaded the file it said select vehicle: 6.0 superduty. That was the only choice, and the guy at the store said that the truck tuner will work in my excursion I specifically asked if this works in the ex.

I really need my truck otherwise I will he paying hundreds in taxi fare. I tried calling the store and sct but both are closed on weekends.

Coming home tonight, I lost all the instrument cluster gauges. Speedometer, tachometer, fuel, oil, temperature and transmission temperature.

So the logical thing to do was check both instrument cluster fuses, fuse 35 and fuse 41. They were both OK.

Kept looking and found fuse #45 blown, it's the "Ignition switch Run/ Start feed" fuse. It was blown.

Popped in a new one and gauges came back to life. I don't know why fuse #45 controls power to the instrument cluster gauges. Strange.

Ford Excursion :: Got Water On Engine While Driving Which Made It Run Badly

I did a fix a while back for water getting into my plugs [URL] .... but I was driving up a winding 60 mile road with it raining cats and dogs plus trucks were throwing water on me (night time also) and 5 miles before I got home it started running like there was water on the plugs and I barely made it home.

I haven't had time to do any tests for where it is coming in because it has been raining for 3 days nonstop but has anyone ever had water short the ignition out like that? After sitting it was fine in the morning but I need to know where it is coming in while driving. It was OK at 40mph but it started when I stepped it up to 60mph.

Dodge - Intrepid :: 2004 V6 Runs Erratically - Revs Up Then Drops Back Down Again

We inherited a 2004 Dodge Intrepid SE 2.7L V6 with about 110K mileage. Basic problem: sometimes on startup the car runs terribly. It's like a cartoon car--it wheezes, bucks, snorts, revs up, drops back down again, etc., and cannot be driven. You know as soon as you turn the key whether or not it will run correctly. Sometimes when you turn the key, it starts up fine and runs fine. We've taken it to two different repair shops--our local guy and the dealership-- several times, and $1,700 later, it still happens. These are the repairs they have done: replace the map sensor, replace the camshaft position sensor, replace the crankshaft position sensor, replace the powertrain control module, replace the throttle position censor and, finally, replace the pigtail for the map sensor.

The codes usually indicate a problem with the map sensor. As a matter of fact, the last time we took it in while it was running terribly, our mechanic unplugged the map sensor while it was running and the engine ran smoothly while it was unplugged. This is what caused him to put in a new pigtail for the sensor. Anyway, after that last repair, a few uses later, the car acted up again. We've learned that if you let the car sit for a few minutes after a bad start up, it will often start up fine the next time you try. One note is that the problem has not occurred as often this summer as it did in the cooler months.

Ford Excursion :: 2004 - Dash Lights / Gauges Stopped Working After 30 Minutes Of Driving

2004 Excursion 4x4 6.0. I just had the fuel injectors & wiring harness replaced and it runs great, but after 30 minutes of driving the complete dash lights/gauges stopped working. I found that the #45 10amp fuse had blown so replaced it and after 20 minutes the same thing happened. While it was working all of the lights & gauges seemed to be working okay. This doesn't effect anything else, still starts & runs okay, turn signals work, head lights work, but the head light auto on/off doesn't.

Ford Excursion :: 2002 V10 Missing Badly While Parked In Heavy Rain

Last night and this morning we had flooding rains here and the excursion was sitting outside in it.

Later this afternoon, I went to pull it up a little to get a motorcycle ouut of the garage, and it started, but very roughly. Check engine light on, would idle at times, and sometimes would die on its own or when I put it in drive. The OD light on the gear shift was also flashing.

Didn't see any pools of water in the engine compartment, around the firewall or anything that would show water had gotten into some electrical areas of the truck.

My OBD reader isn't reading the diagnostics plug for some reason, im gonna go buy one here in a minute.

Plugs, boots, COPS?....why the hell the OD light flashing when in park? Start removing, inspecting, replacing or tow it to the dealer?

Ford F-150 (2004-2008) :: V8 - Engine Knocks At Idle?

As stated I have a 2008 F150XLT 5.4 V8. Recently it has started making a knocking noise and very rough idle when warm. It only does it when the truck has been driven slowly or typically when going through a drive through. It sounds like a rod knock but putting it in neutral and revving the engine makes it go away for a while.

Accent LC (2000-05) :: Transmission Not Working In 1st Gear - Engine Revs

So I tried to launch my 04 accent today, but when I threw it into 2nd, all I got was engine revs. 3rd, 4th, 5th and reverse all work fine, but 1st won't work at all, and I can only get 2nd to work if I shift into 1st before hand. My question is what broke?

Engine seems to knock real bad after engine gets hot like its out of time if unplug the vvt solenoids it runs great something is telling them to adjust timing to much.

When it came in it had a cam code and i found cam sensor was broken it had new installed found part of other in engine. Phaser was damaged replaced it. still did it after.

Then I pulled front of engine apart found chain tensioner leaking oil around gasket and then we decided to re time chain. If still doing it.Will let know after air mass meter.

Passat (B5) :: Engine Coolant Temp / Fuel Gauges And Outside Temperature Display All Stopped Working

My '04 Passat 4Motion (station wagon) engine coolant temperature gauge, fuel gauge, and outside temperature display all stopped working in the same time. Interestingly enough, car has 32K miles and just ran out of manufacturer warranty 2 months ago.

What could be happening? Should I be checking fuse box or this may be related to some more serious failure?

Ford :: 2002 - Engine Knocks Loudly At Start Up / Reaching To Stop?

I have a 2002 Crown Victoria LX. The engine runs great with the exception of a loud knocking sound sometimes when starting or stopping the engine. When starting, it's a single loud knock after the engine turns over. When stopping, it's anywhere from one to several as the engine motion comes to a stop. When it's several (probably 4 or 5) they are quick but it's apparent that the rate slows down slightly over time, as if it's a moving part inside the engine coming to a stop. It is worth noting that about one-third of the time when turning the car on or off, there is no noticeable knocking sound whatsoever. Maybe something is loose inside?

2003 Jeep Liberty Sport, 156 K miles, Check engine light has been on for months now. First occurrence was when driving, and car started to knock as though I was shooting 50 cal machine guns. Stopped vehicle, shut off, and upon restart, engine ran smooth. Now, almost every time after engine has been running a while, and I am going on a down slope, the check engine light starts to blink, and engine starts to miss. Latest and most recent with promise that this has to be it, I replaced engine computer.

Ford Excursion :: Trans / Water Temp Gauges Out Of Sync?

I've been having some issues shifting and been paying more attention to the gauges. On the first start of the morning since its gotten colder, the trans temp gauge gets warm quite quick just idling and the water temp goes no where for quite a while driving or idling.

The truck essentially doesn't shift normally until the water temp is up, over revs, and shifts are much more abrupt and at higher rpm's (like shift pressure is higher if there is such a thing).

My uneducated thinking I think the sensors are reversed, I would expect the water temp to go up while idling and not the trans temp.

My Treg starts to idle erratically. It feel as if it want to stall once every 30 seconds. Other than that it drives great. I talked to the dealer and they said that this is typical of VW's engine. It does not make sense. I did not experienced this when I first bought the car.

Ford Excursion :: Cranks But Won't Start / When Turn Ignition Over Gauges Do Not Swipe

I just changed the alternator this morning. Hook battery back up now cranks wont start no security light flashing no security light blinking at all. When turn ignition over gauges do not swipe don't remember if they normally did or not but now they do not swipe as in speedometer and RPMs. I've also been having trouble with the no windows no radio. Just driving down the road and radio cuts out and power windows hear a click under the dash radio coming back on Windows work again research and see if it's in the battery save circuit inside the dash cluster wondering if this is causing no start now.

Prius (2004-09) :: Engine Knocks In Summer Under Heavy Load

I am the original owner of a 2006 Prius with 265k miles. I use Mobil 5-30 synthetic oil and I drive a steep hill every day and the engine knocks in the summer afternoons when I use cheap 87 Octane gasoline from Safeway or Costco. If I use better 87 octane gasoline (Chevron, Shell) generally there is less knocking. Also during the winter months no knocking even with cheap gasoline.

During summer I can sometimes make the knocking go away by accelerating or decelerating. The knocking is intermittent and generally occurs only during the steepest parts of the commute. The engine might knock for 30 seconds to 60 seconds before its goes away as I try to change the engine RPM.

Unfortunately I am burning some oil at a rate of approximately half a quart every 5k miles. Generally I watch the oil level, but there have been cases where the oil level has fallen below the lowest mark on the dip stick so I suspect I have some carbon build up.

I've read posts where others have used additives like gumout regane and I've read posts that say not to use additives.

I started having an issue when the weather changed here on the East this weekend. When I start my car in the morning the engine knocks for about 30 seconds and then stops. I also recently got an oil change at some local mechanic shop and wondered if that might be the issue. I checked the oil and it was stellar this morning but I'm not sure what kind they put in there. I would assume it's the required type.

My 2000 ford excursion gauges fuse keeps popping. It started earlier this year and I couldn't pin point when it would pop. Now I'm sure after 30.00 worth of fuses that it happens when I change the gear shifter from park or rev to drive.

Ford Excursion :: Electrical Malfunctions - ABS Light On - No Radio / Gauges - Power Loss?

Today I was driving to my moms house. I had been on the road for about 2.5 hours. My ABS light came on, I didn't think anything about just figured a sensor was dirty or bad. About 30 min later the radio shut off then all the gauges bottomed out and the truck lost all power. I was able to coast/idle off the road. I called a local parts place and they had a replacement alternator for me. While I was at it I also replaced the battery. I started the truck up and hit the road again. I drove another 45min with no issues.

Does this sound right or am I missing something else?
