Ford Excursion :: Needle Started To Stumble / Flicker When Boost Gauge Reached At 15 PSI?

May 31, 2016

So driving over the pass last weekend, I noticed as I reached about 15 psi on my boost gauge the needle started to stumble/flicker and I could audibly hear a "pffsssfftst" at that same time, back down away from 15lbs boost and the noise goes away? I am leaning towards a boost leak, it sounded like it was coming from the driver side anyways. I hate to just assume it is something, and mindlessly throw parts at it, on the other hand I know that is one way to start replacing old worn out parts.... So I am thinking start at ordering some new CAC boots from riffraff, anything else I could consider? Could be a worn out spring on the wastgate?

Golf IV R32 :: Lost All Throttle Response When Reached Max Boost Around 90 Mph

Driving Down the highway at approximately 80 mph. Adjusting my electronic boost controller for more boost, I input the values set it and slowly accelerated in fifth gear reached max boost around 90 mph all of a sudden I Lost all throttle response EPC light ESP come on and I start decelerating. The pullover to the side of the road and I hook up my generic OBD2 scanner comes up with the code P0606 (001542 - Internal Control Module: Processor Fault == 214b) and P2106 (Throttle Valve Actuator Module (J338): Power Limited due to Malfunction. After scanning and reading and looking up with the codes were disconnected the battery reconnected the battery and tried to start the car again but this Time Rd., Ranger pulled up behind me blocked traffic so I can get back on the highway soon as I get on the highway CEL back on run the code real quick message airflow sensor. Get off the next exit go to the gas station shut the car off disconnect and reconnect the mass airflow sensor clear the code get back on the highway check engine light does not come back on but idles fine 14 to 1 air fuel ratio but if I step on the gas and hit boost it goes all the way lean 60 mile an hour cruising speed it stayed at like between 13.9 and 15:1. Ford Excursion :: Transmission Goes Into High Pressure When Reached Cruising Speed

I've got a 03 x with the 6.8 2wd 4r100. It was flaring pretty bad for a while going into lock up, about 2 months ago the flare went away now NO lockup. Its taking more pedal to get moving and alot more slip, once you reach cruising speed tranny goes into high pressure. Told to replace the selonoid pack, got one use from a tranny shop from a tranny that lost reverse, got it home took mine out and found out the new one is not PWM and mine is, I tested my selonoid by putting 12v to pin 1 and 4 and nothing (on the pwm pack) did it to the new pack and it works. My question is what will happen if I put the non pwm in my tranny that originally had pwm pack in it?

Ford - Ranger :: 1990 - Voltage Gauge Will Flicker And Jump Around When Starting

We have a 1990 Ford Ranger - 2WD 4cyl - sometimes when we try to start it, it will not kick over the final time for several tries. Some days it runs just fine and others it will stall out 3-5 times in a 15-20 minute drive. We have been told it's the DIS Module OR the Crankshaft Position Sensor OR the Voltage Regulator OR .....

She exited the first exit, pulled into a Chevron and added 2 quarts of oil. When she restarted, the oil gauge moved up but engine was knocking a little. She turned it off. Sat for a bit and tried again, this time the oil gauge read L again and engine still knocking. There was no leak under the vehicle. Is the engine blown?

Ford Excursion :: 2000 - Hesitation / Surge And Stumble Over 1500 RPM

I recently picked up a 2000 Excursion with the 5.4 V8. Engine has 150,000. I got it cheap because it has a surging problem over 1500 RPM. This problem is intermittent.

I have 1 DTC. P1000 which is OBDII checks not complete. I cannot clear this even using the factory procedures. FYI..I have a snap on solus scanner. I think this is a voltage problem, If you try to start the engine with the scanner plugged in, the scanner shuts off, so I'm thinking the PCM loses battery power supply when the starter engages, resetting the PCM.

This problem is NOT a miss.... something isn't opening or shutting off above 1500 RPM. This truck doesn't have an EGR system, it has the EVAP system. This may be the problem, thats why I'm here. OK. heres a list of what I've replaced since I started working on it.

Engine oil and filter
air filter
fuel filter
8 COP's
8 plugs gapped properly
cam position sensor
IAC sensor
MAF sensor
Removed throttle body and cleaned.
Vacuum checks. 22" at purge valve, fuel dia, and vacuum canister
Checking with the scanner at 1500 RPM with problem
SFtrim1% bounces between5-15
SFtrim2% bounces between2-0
LFtrim1% bounces between11-13
LFtrim2% bounces between 5-6
O2S11(mv) bounces between 200-781
O2S21(mv) bounces between 200-800

Ssystem is in closed loop holding throttle at 1500 RPM... Note engine surges when at the RPM or above. I'm thinking the engine is lean, not sure how to read the trim numbers...

Idle is fine ... Problem is intermittent ... Also noticed that engine will only advance spark to 30 degrees @2000 RPM during this problem. I have seen it advance to 38-40 degrees when I do not have this problem, so I kind of understand the power loss, knock etc due to the timing, my question is whats causing it to do this?

EVAP question.... The purge valve should open according to PCM command a certain value, correct? I can monitor the duty cycle % but cannot activate and check proper duty cycle through scanner . When I try to I get an error message of module error -unspecified.

Disconnected hoses at purge valve,Full manifold vacumn on one, nothing on other, no flow through purge valve, but scanner shows 30% duty cycle. I would think the should be a little flow at 30% Maybe my problem? Troubleshoot procedure for the EVAP would be good.

Ford Excursion :: 2011 - Temporary Stumble / Miss After Warm Up With Power Loss

2001 V10 160000 miles.

1st happened Wednesday on way back. Temps all fine but had been in stop and go traffic earlier. Truck was on cruise and felt like fuel cut. I disengaged cruise. Throttle would keep it running and within 5-10 seconds it caught and ran fine.

Connected and reconnected all injectors, coil connections, tb and MAF connections. Nothing noted loose. No codes on OBD reader.

Drove around town last couple days no issues. Today towing three dirt-bikes about 45 miles. towards the end of the 45 miles. she stumbled as we crossed an intersection. Then caught and ran fine. Did it twice on way back home towards the end of the trip.

Had OBD reader in gauge mode with ignition advance, tp sensor, voltage and gallons per hour showing. None seemed to change when it stumbled.

Fuel pump is about 2 years old. Coils maybe 4 or 5 years old. Aftermarket. No codes on OBDII reader.

Golf/GTI VI :: Gauge Needle Stuck At High RPM And Not Go Any Lower

Was on my way to my girlfriend's house and decided to do a few pulls. Noticed afterwards my rpm gauge was stuck at 6k rpms and wouldn't go any lower. The car was running fine and I was in 6th gear just cruising at 55mph. Did another pull and after that it was stuck at 8k and if I downshifted the needle would max out at the 6 o'clock position. When I arrived I turned my car off to see if it would reset itself and it got stuck at 7k rpm.

Elantra XD (2001-06) :: Temp Gauge Needle Going To Red Zone

I have a 2005 Elantra GLS with a couple thousand miles over 100K. There is what appears to be an overheating issue with my car. When I'm driving it in city driving usually less than 45 MPH, the heater blows cold air. However, on the highway (greater than 50 MPH) it blows hot air and the temp needle stays in the normal range (just below the halfway point between hot and cold and more towards the cold). However, when I slow down and come to city speeds, the temp needle starts to rise and the heater blows cold air.

The needle went to the red zone this morning but as soon as it got to the red zone, it slowly came back down to the normal point (within 2-3 seconds). And @ the same time, the heater started blowing warm/hot air like it would be functioning normally. When the needle got the red zone, my car didn't stop or I didn't see smoke coming from the hood or anything like. It was almost like something (maybe thermostat) tripped and allowed the engine to cool.

After doing some research on this, the potential issues point to thermostat, coolant level, radiator crack. I haven't checked how the coolant level is doing but I will check that this weekend.

Ford Excursion :: 2003 - Random / Periodic Flicker Of Light On Instrument Cluster

I've been getting a random, periodic flicker of the light on the instrument cluster. It seems like it occurs when the rpm's are increasing to 2000. Does the light come on for over voltage as well as under voltage? When I check the voltage at the batteries at idle, I'm in the 14.5 v range. I cleaned/tightened all the wires to the battery and alternator and it is still occurring, will be doing the ground wires on sunday.
