Am I the only one experiencing radio display blackout? I have a 2006 Explorer Sport Trak. the radio display goes blank and stays blank. Do I have to replace the whole unit or is there a fix?

View 14 RepliesI took the Prius on a ski trip and halfway to our destination the speedometer display went blank and has not yet come back to life. It was fairly cold outside (-5 F) and I have seen other people blame the cold weather for a Generation II Prius.
View 19 RepliesI have a 2009 3.3L Limited with the Nav system. Sometimes when I start the car the radio/nav display is locked up and will only display the Hyundai logo. During this lock-up, the radio still works. Using the steering wheel selectors I can switch beween station presents, between radio bands, and can change XM radio stations as well. The USB flash drive will not play any music during the lock-up. If I turn the car off then turn it on again, the problem goes away. This lock-up typically happens once every few weeks.
View 3 RepliesThe battery went dead on my 2010 Prius and when I had AAA jump start the car the clock plus the display with odometer, mpg, hybrid battery graph etc, no longer light up. Everything else seems to work.
Is there any easy way reset it other than taking to the dealer? (Could a fuse have blown etc.?)
I just picked up my car from the body shop and noticed the outdoor temp display in the MFD blank (3 dashes) and the AC is blowing hot air. I don't hear the compressor going on either. The AC was working fine until I brought it in. (Why does it always end up like this?!)
Since this was an insurance claim due to a motorcyclist hitting the front driver panel and ripping off a portion of the bumper, the body shop said they didn't touch anything with the AC.
I'm bringing the car back in tomorrow morning so they can have a look and determine whether it was loss related. Is there a sensor in that area? What to check? I have the manual climate system (climactic?).
This has happened 5 times since I purchased in late Dec. Info Display (between tach and speedo) goes blank. I shut everything down, wait a few minutes and still nothing comes up. Most recently happened last Thurs, Sat. and Sun.
View 4 RepliesMy wife on her way home from work called me to say that the MID screen was blank - not working. I asked if she could drive the car, she could, but the energy monitor screen that she has on usually was not coming on. Her concern while driving was that she could not tell how fast she was going.
Fortunately, just a week ago I had installed Scangauge II in her car and had her convert one of existing gauge to MPH. This is a new 2012 Prius IV that is about 2 months old. I'm pretty sure that MID can't be turned off.
Went to a meeting one evening last week with my 2010 Prius, everything working well. After the meeting we drove away and noticed that most of the dash display was "dark". Driving home and feeling a little gloom as I wondered what it might cost to fix the display problem.
I noticed the poster announcing the meeting we attended was laying on the dash and was pushed up to the display screen. I pulled the poster back an inch and the display came back on !! Pushed it forward and when it got within 1/2 inch of the display, it would blank out ??
It appears the dash display is some sort of bottom projection system to the display screen. Pushing anything up to the display screen blocks that bottom projection and blanks the screen.
RNS810 ... My display went blank even though all the touch screen features are available (but hidden from view). Phoned VW who say there is a software update to address the blank screen issue - will try and get it done tomorrow.

I need the car for a 600mi trip in 2 days.

View 3 RepliesRecently brought a 2015 camry SE and wouldn't you know it, someone pulls out in front of me on the highway within a week of buying it. After getting the car back from the auto body shop, I've noticed that my multi information display has a blank screen. Didn't notice that before the accident. The first 3 screens I can set up as I want, the 4th screen is tire pressure and the 5th screen is blank. I've tried to find out what the 5th screen should be but I haven't been able to find an answer.
View 2 RepliesI have very recently purchased a 2011 GX. Everything seems to be in working order, aside from the "multi-information display" in the gauge cluster. While the electronics options screen functions as described in the manual, pressing the menu button results in a blank screen instead of switching to the customization and/or driver information screens.
View 3 RepliesI just got a 2009 570 with rear entertainment, It opens and closes on command when prompted from the front screen and when i use the remote control, it also tilts at various angles but that's all I get from it. it is completely blank. No display whatsoever just tilts, opens and closes. I have a DVD loaded in front. Its a Mark Levinson system the DVD plays fine on the dash screen when I put the parking brakes on but the rear screen remains blank I would call it dead if not for the fact that it opens and closes.
View 1 Replies I have a 2005 Sport trac, just recently, I started my truck and my check engine light was on and my trip counter and odometer went blank, not off, just dashes going across the panel. I recall noticing that my rpms were a little high. I turned off the truck and restarted and after a few minutes it came back to normal. Check engine light went off and my miles were displayed again.
A few days later, it happened again, except this time the rpms were normal, just the dashes and check engine light. I happened to have an obd II with me and I immediately scanned it for any codes. NONE. Few minutes later, back to normal. Scanned again, NOTHING. Its been happening more frequently now, every time i turn on the truck when its been sitting for a while. Like I said, it takes about 3 minutes or so and it goes away. Nothing unusual happens during this time. Motor sounds fine and runs smooth.
A friend who is a mechanic told me that it could be a ground cable for the COIL? that could be loose or damaged? He said its more than likely a ground because it happens when its cold and takes time to warm up and goes away. That if it was a hot it would happen all the time. I have searched online for something similar and have found similar problems but no exact match. I just changed the motor about a week ago. I had problems with the timing chain and broken oil pump.
Due to the amount of damage, cost and time to repair and amount of miles on the truck (180K) I decided id be better off putting in a new(used) motor with 67K miles in half the time for labor. I dont think this makes a difference though, because the first incident happened about a week before the truck broke down and the second about two days before. So Im guessing that the change of motor has nothing to do with it.

View 2 RepliesI have a 2016 LX570 with 5,000 miles on the odometer. This morning the navigation screen is blank and the radio does not work. Took the truck to the dealer, they said Lexus is aware of the problem but does not have a solution. They will call me back when Lexus figures out what is wrong. No offer to give me a loner with a functional navigation unit.
View 3 RepliesWife said the info screen quit for a block this morning. The radio also stopped at the same time. After a block it came back to normal. Is this a sign of something coming? We have a 2005 genII with 80,000 on it.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2007 Camry XLE with a four cylinder engine. Noticed radio and clock quit working. The radio screen is blank. None of the buttons work. Popped hood open to check fuses and noticed corrosion on positive battery terminal. Cleaned battery terminals up and still nothing on radio and clock. Everything else seems to be working correctly. Checked smaller fuses for radio1 and radio 2. Checked all other small fuses in engine compartment and under dash. Still not working. I also pulled battery out and had Oreillys check it. It was good. Not sure what it could be.
