I put a double DIN unit in my 98 F150 and now the airbag light is no. N o flashing either. Turn the key on, nothing, start the engine, Airbag light. I've got the dash apart but I'm not seeing anything that I may have disconnected.
View 8 RepliesJust put a cold air intake on my 99 f150 with a 4.6. its a CAI with a 4" tube and its not an oiled filter. there is NO vacuum leaks, the mass air flow sensor is clean. I am getting the codes 171 and 174 now and i know its from the intake because that's when it started running lean. Is there any way or anything i can adjust to fix this other than buying a 300 dollar programmer?? If I take it to a ford mechanic will he be able to fix this?

View 10 RepliesYesterday I replaced the bulbs in my heater controls, today I have the Airbag light on, flashing 2/7. And when I turn off the passenger airbag, the "OFF" light does not come on. I've heard if the "OFF" light goes out, you replace the switch, would that possibly cause this code?

1997 F150 - Getting an airbag code 33. PAD light is still functional. Some googling suggests a sensor in the passenger seat belt but I think mine is too old for that.

The only threads I can find are for the airbag light flashing which mine does not do. The passenger airbag light is not burnt out so that's not the problem. Where to start looking.
View 2 RepliesLooking to see how to repair my blinking light. Code reads a 27, most what I've read says it's a PAD light, which this truck does not have. It has been in an accident, both airbags deployed. Since then both seat belts & bags have been replaced, nothing else.
View 7 RepliesNew, to me, 2002 F-150 that developed heater core leak. I tore down the dash and replaced the heater core and reassembled everything.
All is good except that now the air bag light on the instrument cluster stays on continuously. There is no blinking...just a solid light that stays on.
I must have missed a connection, though I'm at a loss because I thought I got everything. Is there an obvious (though not obvious to me) connector that I should be looking for?
I bought a 01 F150 with the 5.4 motor in it not much over a year ago. The truck needed quite a few things but the price was right. I have been dreading fixing one issue I knew about when I bought the truck. I figured I would ask here before contemplating taking my 12 year old truck to ford.
I have done quite a bit of reading about the airbag codes and in some cases people suggested the passenger switch led can burn out causing the light to occur. Here's what I know,
The truck has not been in a accident. I bought it from the owners son who only knew where to put gas in the truck. The father took care of the truck and he assured me it was not accident related for what it's worth.
Upon start up there are no flashes of the airbag light. From the time the key is turned ign. on to the time I shut the truck off it is a solid light. Early this spring I soldered a new led in the passenger on/ off switch with no change. I wonder if the switch is bad but I did not see a proper way to test it.
A airbag light code reader would seem to possibility but I have not seen any auto-part stores that borrow that type and my obd2 scanner cannot pull those codes. Where to start with troubleshooting?
Ok, so I installed my euro cupholder today, and I love it. Simple, yet so pleasing! So just for those interested in possibly installing one, but worried about the work, I'm not MKVI inclined whatsoever, so I figured if it would take someone who knows their car well an hour and half, it'd take me 2 and a quarter. I went slowly and as I took the console apart, I meticulously cleaned all the crevices and it only took about 1.5 hours, and that was with some re-fittting and tweaking to make sure everything was perfect. So with my first dive into takng apart the car, it was fairly painless and I love the outcome....except:
For some reason I get an Airbag Error and a warning light. The passenger light works well and goes off with a passenger in thier seat, like its supposed to. I only unplugged, then replugged in 5 things: Passenger Airbag on/ off light, ESP on / off button, 12 V power, Light for shifter (auto), and I Pod (well just an aux line in).
I have a 2014 F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab 8' bed XL trim package with the standard am/fm/cd without sub woofer stereo. I don't have steering wheel controls. I'm looking to install an aftermarket navigation stereo (double-din) with a backup camera. I am having a very hard time finding a wiring harness or a dash install kit. I've searched both 2013 and 2014 but haven't found anything.
In addition, the guy at my local car toys told me that the accessory power in the wiring harness is only 5v for the stereo, and that because of that they have to splice into my wires to get a true 12v accessory power for my stereo to power on. I'm not a big fan of splicing into factory wiring harness to install an aftermarket stereo on a truck that has barely 1000 miles on it.
So I have been having some troubles with my 2003 F150 4.6L ... Truck has been running rough and the check engine light was on so I decided to get the codes read and I got back P0302 and P0304, which from what I understand is a misfire on cylinders 3 & 4. At the same time I got Ford to do a little diagnostic and this is what they wrote for me:
"The connector for the number 2 coil is broken and will not stay plugged on to the coil and the number 2 coil is not working / replaced the wire for the coil still running rough removed the coil and plug. the plug was very badly fuel soaked started the vehicle to see if there was spark at the plug. OK. Suspect either a injector issue or a compression issue cleaned the plug seems better. "
So of course they quoted me for the works. They say I should replace the coils, plugs, and injectors??? I am pretty mechanically inclined and think I could change these things myself since I am on a budget. One tech told me is that the plugs can seize in these engines often and could scrap the whole thing??? Seems a little weird. If that happens though what could I do?
2001 F150 5.4L Triton Motor. Everything seemed o.k. then got the Engine Service Light. Checked with reader and above codes only appeared. Read numerous articles/videos and pulled the PCV hose/boot assembly and replaced the whole thing with oem part. Visually checked for disconnected tubing = none found. After this and with the new hose assembly in place I performed a reset. With the scanner still connected restarted engine and read values: ST FTRM1&2 = -.08~+2.3, both oxygen sensor voltages are varying and the LT FTRM1&2 hang around +26 and +28.
From what I understand the ST seems o.k. but the long term is WAY OUT OF WHACK. Started it up again and took carb cleaner spray and covered all the connections I could see = no change in engine rpm. No cracks in the air cleaner body. Big plug to the MAF was inserted and plugging the hole. I am thinking of making a smoke "machine" and trying that or removing the hoses from the throttle body and plugging the holes in the throttle body and see if that clears them up. IF it does then connect one by one and keep checking the values. Lot more work but I am at a loss.
Ive got a question for all you code readers out there. My dreaded check engine light has been on for about a month. I bought a code reader recently and checked it out. Two codes come up; PO401 and PO446. What these mean. My book says "Exhaust Gas Recirc. Flow Insufficient Detected" and " Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction". Which sensors, location on vehicle, etc..... this is a 97 5.4L Expedition.
View 9 Replies2002 F150 - 5.4 ... So just bought this truck about a month an a half ago. No problems but the other day the SES came on. It is showing P0171 and P0174. And P0000 (almost forgot that one) was told that's generic though. Haven't really noticed a difference in the way it's running. Has been extremely cold here in WV but the only thing I can notice (or think I notice) is the gas mileage has gone down a little. After reading some on this forum I'm looking for a vacuum leak correct?
View 10 RepliesOk, so the OD light sometimes blinked and sometimes not. I drive for a week. About 500-600 mi. Today the tranny starts acting up. Up until today NO probs at all. I bought a code scanner. Codes are P0781, and P0743. I also bought new filter and fluid while there. I read here that it could be a shift spring that is easily accessed when doing the filter change. I guess I should get that and do it,and the filter and see what happens next?
View 4 RepliesEvery time I start the truck, the Passenger Side Airbag light is on, which is saying the airbag is turned "OFF." I have to push the button to turn the light off, which turns the airbag "ON." How do I reset this to where the airbag is "ON" until I turn it "OFF?"
View 8 RepliesJust got a 98 f150 w/ 5.4 4x4 excab. It idles fine but under light accleration. It starts bucking and missing bad, if I step on it, it down shifts and accelerates fine. If I try to maintain one speed it misses bad. It is not throwing any codes right now. The check engine light did come on for like a minute but went back off before I could have it read. I hooked up a scanner just to see if any codes were stored and got p0300 and p0301. I am going to clean the MAF and check for vacuum leaks. I hear the rear plug and coils can get water in them causing similar problems.
