I bought the bed extender off my uncles '05 lariat and I got the pivot bolts, but I went to put the bolts on my truck and the middle hole isn't threaded. It has like a metal bushing in there, do I need to tap the hole or what? Also what is the bottom hole for?

Additionally, the dealer wanted me to pay for an additional alarm. (I think), which I told him to include in the deal. The question is, what do these alarms specifically do?
View 8 RepliesIt has been a long time since I have owned a Ford truck and recently got a good deal on a 2004 Reg. Cab 4x4 (4.6L). It only has 58K miles and still looks, drives and smells like new. I have just noticed that the Rear end gears whine very loudly at 45 mph. It is quite everywhere else accept a little hum at 60mph. No other issues with the truck and perhaps, this is just normal on these newer fords.

About a week ago, my car started honking twice after I press the lock button twice. This hasnt happened in 1.5 years but it didnt really bug me.. at first.
My problem is... my car's alarm goes off randomly after I lock it. It's like someone pressing the panic button on my fob.. What is wrong with my car all of a sudden??
I read another thread and have disconnected the battery. I will wait an hour and re-connect to check again. I've also read somewhere that I might need a "latch and sensor replacement"..
I have a 2008 Passat B6 2.0 TDi with a factory fitted phone provision. My mobile phone is recognised by the car - phone book etc. I can make a call and the screen on the radio shows "PHONE" but I can't hear any sound. When a call comes in there is no sound either and I can't communicate with the caller.

View 3 RepliesI pulled out my Pioneer stereo from my 2004 before trading it in for the new 2012. From all my research and all, it should hook right up but I cannot get a switchable power supply at the harness. I can find one in the harness for the heater but do not want to cut into that one. What have you other Truckers done? Here is the wire harness I am working with. The Red is supposed to go the switchable power, yellow to constant and black to ground. The red from the stereo to the harness wire will NOT power the unit. I can get the stereo working if I put the red wire to the constant (yellow) but then the stereo will not turn off.

View 14 RepliesWe just traded in our 91 passat for a 2004 passat. I am trying to program the factory garage door opener that is on the drivers side sun visor. I have read the manaul and cannot get it to program to my door. I tried holding down buttons 1&3 untill it flashes, Then hold down #1 Button and then the "learn" button on the opener (at the same time) then the remote will flah slow then fast when it has the code. Is it possable it will not work with a 6 year old Chraftsman opener?

View 4 RepliesFinally got the Aeroworks CF splitters and spent some time to install it. Took me about 3 hours but I also took the time to put on some adhesive velcro for protection. And re-sealed one of my headlights

Then the rest is easy. Make sure to clamp or put a bucket under the washer fluid hose if you have the headlight cleaner option. Fitment of these splitters are almost 100%. right side was perfect, left side has a slight gap but its like 1mm ... very small.
Just line it up, and drill 3 holes on the bottom and 1 on the side. The splitters came with screws and some fasteners. Easy to install. I put some 3M adhesive tape as well just in case . I stuck some Heavy Duty industrial velcro strips on the underside in case i rub.
I installed some aftermarket HID lights in my 08 passat. I took it to a local shop to have the drls turned off and the bi xenon turned on. All the warnings and bulb out lights went off, the lights fire up perfect. but for some reason now the lights (all of them, rear, dash, parking all come on with the ignition whether or not the lights are switched on or off.
I am sure a code got changed that causes that, but which code would activate all lights all the time? It's not DRls it all lights are on just like you turned the lights on manually.
I've owned my '04 echo since new. It now has 172,000 km on it. It still has the factory original shocks and struts in it. Surely its time to replace them. I've never owned a car that used struts before. Now I have read here before if they aren't leaking then they are ok.
I guess I could do the old shock test of bouncing the car up and down and see how many times the car bounces after you stop pushing up and down on the fenders. The car just seems to ride harsher over the bumps in the road now.
Want to upgrade my factory non entune radio 57076 to the factory entune radio. what model number radio am I looking for and will I encounter any issues with data for fuel and tire pressure sensors.
