I just bought a 2011 F-150 with the 6.2 liter engine; only has 80k on it. After going for a ride today and stepping on it a couple times the oil pressure gauge went down to zero and the light came on. I shut it off and restarted and it was normal again but came on a few seconds later. I repeated the process a couple times and now its seems fine again.
View 7 RepliesAt what point does it go off? Mine went off tonight, after about 15 miles on the road, the ambient temp is 60 degrees cooler than when the tires last got air (it was 40 degrees on the drive home).
None of the tires look low. If it had been on at the start, I could understand due to the cooler air, but it was after a few miles and the tires had warmed up some I am sure. (Two miles later when I stopped at my house, the tires felt warm to the touch, at least, noticeably warmer than ambient air.
Yesterday had a issue with my new truck, (less than 2500 miles), pulled up to a stop sign and the low oil pressure warning light came on and truck just died and wouldn't start back up, checked oil and put some in and it still wouldn't start, called Ford roadside asst. and right before they showed up it started. Still had it towed to dealership and they're still looking at!!! It's got the 5.0
View 4 Replies2012 F150 6.2L V8... I am at a loss and I know that loud knocking is not a good sign. Two days ago my truck's low oil pressure light started coming on and off, so I pulled over and immediately turned my truck off. I called a friend at a Ford dealership and he asked a mechanic what I should do. He said it could be something as simple as low oil, bad oil sending unit or maybe something serious. So, he said check my oil level if low top it off and see if that fixes the problem. It was low and I topped it off, but the light kept doing the same thing.
Here's my dilemma; my truck wasn't making ANY noises (knocking, whining, etc...), 2 days later which was yesterday I was en route to get new oil/oil filter changed and 24 miles later I'm in a turning Lane and it dies! Will not start, but it tried, so I did not try anymore. I was able to get it into a parking lot and left it for about 4 hours and went to check on it and it started right up and that is when the knocking noise started. I turned it off and checked the oil and the level reads full...
Wanting to put the raptor 3rd brake light on my 2011 limited not sure what has to be done or if they make a harness to allow it to work. What did it take to do it ??? I just like the running light it has kinda cool....
View 8 RepliesA close friend of mine just traded in his '04 Tacoma with ~240k miles on a 2011 F-150 EcoBoost XLT Screw 6.5' bed w/ 3.73's. Truck has ~75k miles He went the EB route after I was having the tick/tap issue with my 5.0 (yes... a 5.0 guy talked someone into the EB ). Actually was my first time in an EcoBoost truck and MAN is that thing quick, especially with the 3.73s.
Truck is very clean inside and out and was well cared for. He did throw a blinking CEL light (assume misfire) after a rainy highway trip, having to tip into the throttle to pass someone. I had already mentioned that might happen so he knew to expect it.
We are planning to do anything "non invasive" to prevent the issue (e.g. no IC drilling). We plan to swap out plugs and boots. Looks like plugs should be Motorcraft SP534 gapped to .030 and boots are Motorcraft WR6135.
What are the torque spec for the EB plugs? For my 5.0, spec is 124 in-lb. Looking like 133 in-lb from a couple of sources. Is there anything else we should be doing to prevent a misfire CEL in the future? He doesn't baby the thing and the CEL only happened the one time so far.
I'm having issues when shifting into reverse and I it goes into limp mode when the wrench light shows up. This will not happen when shifting into Drive. When in limp mode I get engine code P0720. This calls for a bad Output Speed Sensor and my research says the sensor is on the back of the transmission but I cannot find any sensors on the transmission. there are several connectors clipped to it but I don't see any bolted in sensors. Also I cannot find a replacement sensor anywhere so I'm wondering if this is a generic code.
View 3 Replies2011 eb just turned 36k. Today on breezeway it shuddered like it swallowed a bird, and check engine light flashed on. Went to see customer left and light was off. Back on breezeway and shuddered on entrance ramp so this time I stayed into it so either there's a light that will stay on or just launch it and this time the dealer will have something to fix that they can diagnose. Check engine light is on its fine as long as I stay out of the pedal. Still have 8 months left on power train warranty but what am I looking at for a diagnose, there is definitely a problem now. What the dealership should see?
View 7 RepliesI have a 2011 F150 supercrew 4x4 5.0, it has almost 8k miles. I have looked around online to see if this is a common issue but haven't found anything really. The airbag warning light in the instrument cluster will come on and stay on randomly. Some days it only lights up when I start the truck, other days it will turn on and stay on until I restart the truck. I think I have a glitch or a malfunction in a switch somewhere with the Airbag system. I will be calling the dealership about it after we finish the Easter Weekend.
View 5 RepliesOn my '11 5.0L I've noticed at light to mid throttle if I get into 5 or 6 with the rpms down near 1k or so it will have a light but noticeable to me shudder type sensation. At first I thought maybe it was a converter lockup effect or possibly road noise but the more I drive the more I notice it. Very indistinct and mild with no check engine light and mileage was 17mpg mixed so I'm pretty convinced its not an engine shutter- but I have no experiencing dealing with these coyotes yet...

The dashboard computer says that the tire pressure in the front right tire is 17 psi, but when I use the pressure gauge, the reading is almost 40 psi. Is this something I should be concerned about? What could be causing this problem?
View 16 RepliesUnhooked battery on 2011 truck. I unhooked mine today then installed my magnaflow exhaust. then i hooked the battery back up. And now my battery light comes on when i turn the key ahead. my sync doesn't work, i push the button and it won't say listening. and when i turn the key off the stereo won't stay on, it says it's shutting the system down to save the battery. i am going to take it in on monday to see if they can fix it. i just hope it isn't my fault. Any certain way of disconnecting it.
View 14 RepliesYesterday in the pouring rain the low pressure tire gauge in my 2014 Sonata lit up in the middle of traffic. I drove to the nearest gas station and checked the pressure of all 4 tires, even though the diagram on the dashboard pointed to only one tire. Filled and checked all the tires again (still in the pouring rain) and drove off, only to find that the low pressure light was still on.
I was told by a mechanic-friend that I should bring it in for service and have the sensor reset. I didn't have this problem with my 2011 Elantra. Maybe if I just kick the dashboard it will reset the sensor...
I have a 2010 F150 Lariat Super Cab 5.4 L. I have been to the dealer. Is their any battery condition, low battery or alternator warning on my truck?
View 11 RepliesOk well here is the deal, I was on my way to work today and my 2009 F150 lost all power after I got it up to about 55 mph and my oil pressure gauge went down fast. I was on a 3 lane highway with no shoulder so I had to stop it in the far lane and the oil light came on when I took it out of gear and killed it. I got out and there was no oil anywhere so it did not leak out.
I started it again and the oil pressure gauge went up and then right back down. I had to have it towed to the dealership but I was just wondering what was the problem??? I believe it is either a sensor or the oil pump but leaning more towards a sensor.
Where the oil pressure sensor is located on a 2013 F150 with the V8 is located?

Driving along one day, out of the blue oil pressure light comes on, oil pressure gauge went to zero.
Engine did not run hot, no bad engines noises that I can hear.
Upon restart, oil pressure will be up on the gauge for minute or so, then goes to zero and oil light comes on.
Asked around, some say oil pump, some say oil filter or pickup tube.
I have a 02 explorer XLT with the 4.6L and the oil pressure gauge has never worked (the three years I have owned it) I did an oil change yestarday and replaced the sending unit thinking that was the problem but the gauge is still not working. What other problem it may have? 4x4 light flashing (instrument panel looks like a xmas tree)...

View 2 RepliesSo I went to start my truck this am. Fired up fine. Put it in drive and the check advance track light came on, 2 minutes later the oil pressure dropped to zero and truck quit at the same time. Checked oil and it was good, repeated same process 3 times. I just let it idle for ten minutes then it was fine.
