I'm trying to take out the rear headrest on my dad's 2011 F150 crew cab so that i can put my kid's carseat back there. I hit the two release buttons, but the headrest hits the ceiling before the pegs come out of the holes. How are you supposed to remove these things? Does the seat lean forward somehow?

View 2 RepliesI have a 2010 4 door GTI. I'd like to install my daughter's front facing Britax child seat either in the rear right or rear central position. However, in either case, I'm finding that most of the rear weight ends up on the headrest and I would like to simply remove the headrest from that seating position.
I read in the user manual that to remove the headrest,I pull it to it's highest position and then push the button on the right side of the plastic entrance of the head rest into the seat, and 'simply' pull the headrest vertical out of the seat.
This is similar to how this was done in other cars I've owned. However it is not working for me with the GTI. Once I pull the headrest to the highest possible position I can get to, I press the button but the headrest simply refuses to come out. I've tried this on the other rear seat and same problem. With the middle rear seat I can't seem to pull the headrest out beyond its lowest position.

I am on top of my oil changes, but this is the first time I have seen the center display flash "change oil soon" and stay on until you hit the OK button. I went through the manual and I cannot find where there is a provision to clear the message. The oil was just changed, has maybe 600 miles on it.

View 6 RepliesI though I would like the tailgate step and assist handle. They are always in the way and I want to get rid of the handle but keep the step if possible. Can I remove the plastic tailgate cover, pull the hande and re-install a metal tailgate cover.
If not, want to swap a tailgate. Its red, has the back-up camera and, no dealer markings and in excellent condition.
I continue to get that message whenever about anything is on the passenger seat. Today there was only a wrapper and an empty cardboard box from an oil filter. Together I doubt they weighed more than a few ounces. I normally just clear the message a few times to get it to go away...but today it triggered a seat belt alarm. Is there a way to change the amount of weight that it takes to trigger this message...or is it due to something else?

View 3 RepliesI have a 2013 FX4 with the 3.5 twin turbo engine. How to remove the right side valve cover to replace the gasket? I have loosened the perimeter bolts and was able to get it to move slightly but nothing more. I also removed the spark plugs thinking that they might be holding the tubes which are connected to the valve cover by round seals. I have not removed the seals since I was concerned that I might damage them. Do they need to come off? If so how do I do it? It's amazing how complicated this job is! Short of calling the dealer service, I have just about exhausted all my usual tech resources.

View 10 RepliesMy rear seat headrest on one side is always up, and I can hear a motor running in the rear seat back whenever the engine is running. Shut the engine off, and the head rest remains up. I couldn't push it down with any reasonable amount of force. Does it need a complete headrest motor, or can the existing one be repaired?

View 7 Repliesi have a 2011 f150 xlt with the 5.0, my 4x4 does not lock in very well, i practically have to come to a stop and wait for it to engage fully or it starts banging and slipping like its trying to engage and not quite making it. are they still suppose to be on the fly? is there any kind of maintenance that i can do to them to have them work better? are they still locking hubs or did they change something?
