I have a 2012 f150 supercrew ecoboost with 6,000 miles on it. I just took it into the dealer for a clinking noise from the rear end. It happens when shifting between D and R and during dowshifting at low speeds. They said that ford is aware of this noise but does not have a fix yet.
View 2 RepliesMy rear bumper is rusting pretty bad. I have polished several times, and it comes back worse every time. Its less than 2 years old and I have mud flaps. I brought it to the dealer today, and the writer was trying to pass it off as normal.

4x4, 3.55 e-locker, 5.0l. It is one nice ride but it already has a blown speaker rear drivers side which is frustrating, I see this is a common issue with these trucks. Just hope it is not a recurring thing. But still a great truck.
So here it is, who out there with a 2012 SCREW can tell me how their rear parking brake cable is routed around the axle? The reason I ask is mine is routed under the axle and that just seems like a really screwy design. I would think any time the rear suspension was unloaded it could have the potential to engage the parking brake by the axle pushing down on the cable. My father has a 2014 and his isn't routed that way. I've also looked at a lot of pictures on the internet and haven't found any photos that show the cable routed under either. Is something off on mine, or is mine routed correctly and I just have not found any pictures that show it routed the same as mine?
View 1 RepliesI have just started to have this problem or what I think is a problem. When the electronic rear axle is locked and in icy conditions I am getting clunking sounds out of the rear end sometimes. Its hard to explain but it sounds like it is slipping in and out of engagement. Sometimes it works fine or what I think is fine and locks both wheels together and I get no sound at all. I switched off the traction control thinking that the sounds I was hearing were a result if it kicking in but this didn't change the sounds the rear diff is making.
View 11 RepliesI have a 2012 F-150 4x4 super crew all factory with 54,000 mi. I've noticed a new noise/hum at slower speeds, more frequent now. The noise doesn't sound like its from the front or back specifically. I pulled the front wheels this evening and the front rotors seem pretty tight, how easily should they turn with vehicle off for about 30 min? I started it and pushed and released the brake and quickly tried to turn them, very tight, after a minute or two they relaxed a little, another 5 min they seemed tighter? I sharpie mark on both inside and outside of the rotor and turned it past the pads and they are both squeezing equally ruling out binding of the slider bolts.
View 3 RepliesThis morning, the driver's heated seat in my 2012 Lariat did not seem to operate properly. (It worked fine approx 14 hours earlier.) Note that my seats have both the heat and cool options.
I started the truck (its NOT garaged and the air temp was -5 F, which has been kinda typical lately) and turned on the driver's heated seat to high (level 3). I noticed that the seat's 'air noise' was more than normal (I've always noticed a more air noise with the 'cool' setting .........
No, I was not using 'cool' instead of 'heat' !) and that the seat never warmed up during the 10 minute drive. (Normally it would be noticeably warm in less than 5 minutes.) The 'air noise' seemed to cycle off/on toward the end of the drive. I did not have a passenger, so I did not have a chance to try that seat.
I've owned the truck about 2 years and had never run into this before.
I've got an '12 F-150 with 7k mi. on it. It developed a squeak/creak noise about 1k. mi. ago. It comes from the r. front suspension area and I noticed it one morning leaving from work. It occurs under suspension loading/unloading and it only happens during cold and dry conditions. It won't make the noise when it's wet or damp outside. I've had it at the local dealer 2 times now and they can't seem to locate it. It sounds like rubber on metal or when the 97 & 98's had the dry tie rod ends or ball joints problem. They are reluctant to throw parts at it to try and eliminate it and I agree with them. What were the findings?

View 3 RepliesI have a 2012 3.5 eco boost. It has 82,000 miles. I just purchased a large travel trailer. That is the first thing I have ever towed. When I was accelerating onto the interstate the engine started making a chirping noise.( not the normal turbo whistle). It went away when the rpms came down, and now every time I accelerate, it makes the same noise around 2000-2500 under load.
View 6 RepliesJust got a 2010 lariat supercrew...I put 1900 miles on it so far. When slowly letting off the accelerator (doing between 20-30 mph and between 1000-1500 rpm) there is a distinct rubbing sound for about 1-2 seconds...it is now sounding more like grinding now...took it to the shop today...(they couldn't duplicate (because service rep documented 60 mph instead of the 20-30 mph...went back at the end of the day to ride with the tech, and i was able to duplicate so now they have something to work with....also the noise happens mostly when the path of travel is either level road or slight to great incline..it has not happened on a down slope....
View 14 RepliesLast night I took the turn a bit too sharply and the rear passenger wheel drove onto the curb, and I heard a scratching noise from the rear passenger side. Now I'm worried that I've broken something, because now the passenger side leaf spring feels a bit more bouncy than the one on the driver side. I have never paid any attention to my rear suspension until I drove over that curb, so maybe it was always bouncy. What I'm worrying about is the scratching sound when the wheel was on the curb, could that be the traction control kicking in?
View 13 RepliesMy Platinum has 23000 miles now and is a little over a year old. Lots of small problems so far but Ford too care of everything on warranty.
Now I discovered 2 small bubbles on the grille and so not like that. Also the rear defrost does not turn on. Neither by pushing the button on the console or the touch screen one. It does not activate - no indicator turns on nor does it defrost.
For once a week at least I got a grinding noise/vibration from the front power train. Ford can't find any issues and it never does it when they test drive.
2012 5.0 getting about 13 mpg other saying they get 17 mpg.....
View 14 RepliesSo finally got around to tracking down a rattle I had when driving over roads with choppy pavement (pretty much everywhere around here). There was a clinking kind of rattle coming from the rear of the car. Pulled everything out of the trunk including the spare tire and the noise was still there. Turns out its the rear seat pass through. The rattle is in the thing itself - its not the pass through rattling against the rear seat.
Removed the pass through, rattle gone. But now there is a hole in my rear set .. Guess I could ask the dealer to get me another one, but I'm betting this isn't that uncommon. I would have been happy to just have a split rear seat without the stupid pass through actually...
Having trouble with the radio in their truck? When I started my truck today my radio would not turn on, no AM/FM, CD player, Suris or Aux input. It does not matter what buttons you press. The sync will not work and none of the controls for sync.
The display said Ford Tough then the temperature was displayed, but the clock was flashing on and off. There was no pattern to the clock flashing on and off it could flash once or twice then nothing for minute or two then flashes once to 4 times then nothing. I tried a hard reset by disconnecting the battery for over 15 minutes but it made no difference.
I have a 2012 f150 stx 5.0 and I drive mostly city with a few highway miles. Why get this bad of gas mileage?
View 8 RepliesI've done 3 oil changes since picking up my 2012 Lariat 5.0 a little over a year ago. And I've always questioned the accuracy of the oil dipstick - seemed to always read 'low'.
I just changed oil tonight (Motorcraft 5w-20 semi-synthetic), and I measured the oil that I drained out - just about right at 8 qts. I put in 7 qts and 24 oz (about 1.6 - 2 oz over the 7.7 qts that it calls for) and the oil barely reaches the low level on the dipstick.
I guess between what I drained out and my current oil level reading, my dipstick is not accurate.
I have noticed that on my 2012 5.0 Screw that the A/C isn't very cold. It is no where near as cold as my last truck, or any of a number of late model cars I have driven. If it's over 85 and I have it set to auto (70 degrees) it will never get there and just run full tilt the whole day. Even if you select Max A/C and blow it on you you will never have to turn the fan down from being cold as in other cars.

I have a 2012 f150 XLT that I special ordered... meaning I got the front buckets with the center console. I have an old SBE Sidebander IV that was my grandfather's that I am going to swing by the CB shop this week to get checked out. If everything is a go, I will go with that. So, this is a big radio fromm the 70's, not the little tiny things that are sold today.
So, whats a good location? Vertical on the front of the console maybe?
We just sold our 04 Supercrew that was rusting out from underneath itself. I was unsure of what to get next until I drove this 2012 F140 XLT supercrew with the ecoboost. It is in fantastic shape and drive great. It does have 90k on its odometer and I wasn't sure if that should be of any real concern.
It was a one owner trade in and you would never tell the mileage by looking at it. I averaged 5k miles per year for the 5 years I owned my 04 so I don't drive real far. I also tow a 20' ultra lite camper which may get upgraded to a 24' ultra lite in a few years.
I just didn't know if I should be concerned about the high mileage with my driving habits and not driving very much. Do these motors have any maintenance issues? Everything I've read seems to be good....
