2012 F150 5.0L ... Running the stage 3 motorsports Tune on the SCT X4 device ... Noticed higher gear while going up a hill the motor is Pinging. Running 89 Sunoco fuel for two fill ups in a row and I have the 89 Performance tune loaded. It would not surprise me if the Gas station is selling 87 for the 89 Price!

View 14 RepliesWas climbing a steep hill at 35 mph just before truck down shifted to 2nd, I was hearing a pinging sound. Sounded like only I cylinder was doing so. What it could be. I am currently running a 1/4 tank of Fppf fuel injector cleaner. Is this a injector noise. No knocking just a slight pinging.
View 1 RepliesSo we finally found a travel trailer and picked it up yesterday. It is a 2008 Jayco 29A. Fiberglass with aluminum frame. 5345 dry weight, so shouldn't be too taxing on the Ex, but we towed it through parts of the NC mountains to get home and on steep grades it would downshift to 2nd gear and I would hear what sounded to me like pinging from the engine.
As far as I know the plugs are original, so should I just go ahead and replace them, or there also a possibility that this is just the notorious exhaust manifold leak? If all exhaust manifold bolts are still intact, is there a good test to know if it is the exhaust? No engine codes were thrown. The truck has 72k miles on it now.
I have about 3,000 miles on my 2014 Camry and the tranny just doesn't "feel" right. Seems clunky and the car lurches a bit when you need to accelerate up a hill. I traded in my 2007 Camry for this car and the '07 performed far better.
View 14 RepliesWell when it rains it pours. As I was picking up my truck from the dealer for the brake master cylinder issue I noticed some faults come up on the display as I got into my truck. It was a Hill Descent Control Fault and a Service AdvanceTrac warnings on the dash. I told the service write about them and had already cleared them thinking it was a fluke alert from the servicing they did. Well they have come back in and after some searching I hear that when we get these alerts the solution was Ford having to replace the entire steering rack??!!
View 5 RepliesI have a 2009 x5. 29k miles. The car pings going up a hill in sixth gear. I know sixth is not strong enough, I downshift to fifth gear and it does not ping. The car has a three liter engine. In the past, other cars would just wait for me to downshift automatically or manually using the steptronic transmission. Is the timing off? Or is this normal?
View 10 RepliesLifting 09-13 F-150 with the two piece drive shaft. I am getting a lot of vibrations at highway speeds(55mph or higher). I have a Pro Comp 6 inch lift that was installed while I was stationed in Alaska. I have the drive shaft spacer that goes on the drive shaft at the pinion. I also have a carrier bearing drop kit from BDS that I am currently experimenting with (trying to find the sweet spot). I am at a loss though because my truck is no longer fun to drive. I drive an hour to work one way and it blows that my truck feels as though it will rattle apart. I have tried doing all the research that I can find about this issue.
View 14 RepliesWhen I press slightly on the accelerator just to get the truck moving and than let off the engine stays at the higher RPM typically just over a 1000. This only happens in drive not reverse and everytime I just slightly step on the accelerator. The truck only has 1K miles on it.
View 14 RepliesThe MPG display on my new 2014 Camry XLE displays 1.5mpg higher than actual MPG. This is based on the first 9 tanks (Toyota Dealer reset the trip mileage during tire rotation). Mostly highway type of driving (backroads of the desert).
Note that the next three tanks-fulls the MPG display accuracy is better. Maybe the display is more accurate once the car get broken-in.

We have had the 2014 Camry SE for 3 months, 2000 miles, (we also have a 2005 Camry LE) and our first interstate trip is when we noticed it. When we get close to 70 mph and above we hear it. Sounds like some maybe flapping/rubbing? No really metal sounding, maybe plastic? I have checked under the car, do not see anything loose. We first thought it was coming from the storage area in between the seat, but we took everything out and the noise continued. Dead center under the car it sounds like. It does it every time, the same sound.

The blower motor resistor block is overheating and melting the connector block. fooled with it way too much, and then put a new resistor and pigtail in it. The new resistor would kick out in about 30 seconds, so used the old resistor on the new pigtail, got hot, melted the new pigtail. What is causing the resistor block to get so hot, and what do I do about it?
View 7 RepliesWhat is the testing procedures for the blower motor controller on my 2009 150 Lariat. In the old days it was called the resistor but now it is computer controlled for the dual climate control. My fan is stuck on high, the fan switch does work(the bars on the display change when I push the fan speed button). The climate control works also, just blasts you with air and the temp is changing a lot due to the fact of the fan on High. I am 99% sure it is the blower motor controller, but I would like to test the controller.
View 14 RepliesWe just brought home a new Tiguan 2012 Automatic and when we are in Drive (D) and going about 26-30 mph the transmission stays in a high gear (5th) and makes a vibrating hum.
It happens on a flat road when someone is in front of us and forces us to stay in the 26-30mph range.
It feels like it wont drop back to 4th at this speed and is overloaded in 5th. When we give it some gas it will hum and lag even more then finallly downshift.
Tiptronic and Sport seem fine but Drive does not feel normal in this range.
When we took back to dealer at 130 miles on the odometer, the tech sat in on the drive and experienced the symptom. His conclusion was that the car is in its "Adaptive Learning" phase and it should work itself out after about 600+ miles.
Started a while back and comes and goes. Only commonality I have found is the truck needs to be warmed up for it to happen and usually after a few hours of driving. The downshift from 5th or 6th into fourth, at times, produces anywhere from a light to violent clunk, feels like a typical tranny slip. It will do it while in cruise and it will do it if I don't have the cruise on. Can't figure out if it is going to be a tune issue or hardware.
It does it only downshifting into 4th from 5th or 6th, no other downshifting is a problem and usually the 6th to 4th produces the worst results. At highway speeds that is usually a shift from around 2Krpm to just over 3K rpm (6th to 4th) if it is from 5th it is about 2500 to 3K. Start from a stop and go WOT and there are no issues.
Having it in Tow/Haul or not makes no difference as far as I can tell. IT can do it on one hill and the next time be just fine or do it 2-3 hills in a row. After this last trip it will do it at 9K feet or at 60 feet elevation, didn't make a difference there either.
Another issue that may be hurting the computer is the truck originally came with the 235 tires, it now has 285's and the rear is only 3.31. I plan on going with 265's and maybe still a gear change to 3.73's in the future. I usually only notice this on long trips, first was a 1500mile hauling an ATV, second was last week during a 2500 mile empty. Although I have had it do it a few times locally. I figure those bigger tires can't be good especially with that high of a rear for the management system.
I have a 2010 ford f150 with a 4.6 engine. it has developed a loud noise like a diesel on steroids and also sounds like its going to fly apart and it also misses when it does this . now this is how I have narrowed it down to make it happen because it does not do it all the time. it mainly does it to and from longer trips like 45 minutes or more then coming into traffic to a crawl or idle it will start making the noise . also when I pull into my drive and go from drive to reverse and go to back up it will also make the noise. I have no lights on the dash or codes. could this be a coil pack ? I had a coil go a few years back but it acted up under load on a hill and just missed with no noise.
View 11 RepliesAs the title says, my 2013 F-150 XLT lost all heater function and rear window/side mirror defrost function. It all worked fine this morning on the way to work but when I got out I had nothing. Looked at fuses under the hood, nothing is blown. Could it be a relay? The led lights in the buttons on the module still light up and I can hear the vent doors open and close when I change modes.

I have a 2013 Lariat with 135K miles. Yesterday started a loud and consistent clicking under the center dash. When I turn the heater up to 77 degrees or above it stops. I have dual AC controls and the passenger side will now occasionally blow hot compared to the driver side when I have them on the same temperature.
Based on what I have researched I need to replace my heater blend door. Need to confirm if this sounds correct? Are there different blend doors for driver vs. passenger side repair?
As importantly I am looking for a good set of instructions on how to gain access to the heater blend door motor in order to take care of the replacement myself. My understanding is it is a $40 part buy may be heavy on services due to access. My 2013 is stocked with the sync touch screen / navigation option .....
I have a 2009 f150 fx4 it will not blow cold air or heat on any setting. I have replaced the resistor and it stopped working again if i smack the black box the resistor is in it will work again. My question is where is the blower motor and how hard of a job is it to change. I just ordered the motor.
