Love my 03 lariat Super Duty, King Ranch. Just found out 4 wheel drive is not working. Checked fuses, next going to look at the vacuum system, make sure its working. New to the Diesels but going to work at it and learn at the same time. 2003 F-250 4x4 ....
View 5 RepliesI recently picked up a '99 F250 Super Duty with the 6.8L V10 for a song.
The 4 wheel drive hubs are not working with the vacuum. If I use the manual lock on the hubs all is well. I ordered the Innova 31703 CarScan OBD2 + OBD1/ABS/SRS Scan Tool. It says it does Trans codes. I am hoping it will cover the 4 wheel drive too.
Maybe related, the heat is always on. Meaning I feel heat at my feet when the temp dial is cold and fan is off. I can't find the heater control valve to check the vacuum line.
So one day my 4 wheel drive just stopped working, when I put in 4hi nothing same with low, the light on the dash doesn't even pop up and it doesn't engage. I've done about everything I could think of doing besides replacing the motor for it and the wiring, I hate getting stuck...

My light on the overdrive is not coming on and the overdrive does not seem to be working. I had a new transmission installed a few weeks back. Wasn't working prior to this.
Checked the EOF vacuum lines and pump but still have a problem. The EOF works and locks the hubs when I switch to 4x4 high, Easy to feel when you turn the wheels but it will not go into low. The light on the dash does not light up the word "low".

View 6 RepliesI purchased the truck used last summer and this is the second time I've put it in 4wd. The first time was over the summer, and I had a hard time getting it into 4wd, and it made a "clunk" sound initially but drove fine, then went back into 2wd just fine and had driven fine ever since. Today I put it into 4wd, no clunk or any other noises, very smooth, but it drove very rough, almost as if the wheels were out of sync or something. It seemed almost like the wheels were breaking on and off on their own, very weird. When I put it back into 2wd, it did that for a few seconds until it went away. I only drove it in 4wd in my parking garage as I didn't want to risk any more damage to it on the road.

I have had locking hubs before that you had to engage to shift into 4 wheel drive and I have had trucks without locking hubs.
My truck didn't come with a manual, so I am looking for instructions for the proper use of this system.

While doing my brakes in the front, I tried to wiggle the front left, nothing. Solid. Then when I did the right, I was surprised to see it wiggle when I grabbed the tire. So I looked to see what was moving.
Not the U joint, not the ball joints, But it looks like what is a drive shaft.. (I am new to this stuff). On the right side a shaft comes out of the axle just before the U joint and the rest of the wheel assy. What is wrong?
I have a 1999 Ford F250 super duty 4wheel drive, lifted (really a leveling kit but had to lift rear to compensate), 5.4l. Im having a problem with my front shaft turning while in 2 wheel drive. Hubs aren't locked and its in 2 wheel not 4. I've taken hubs off and the bearing spins free soo I know its in auto. Why is the drive shaft still turning???????
View 5 RepliesI am having some issues with my 2003 f250 6.0l 4x4. I cannot get the 4x4 to engage. There are no lights on the dash and no power to the switch other than the light. It doesn't matter if I have the hubs in lock or auto. It just seems like i have no power to the system. I have check all the fuses and they all check fine. I also check the transfer case motor and it seemed fine. I must be missing something. This truck is worthless without 4x4.
View 14 RepliesWipers/washers didn't work on 2003 f250. No blown fuses in system, supply fuses are 106 and 33, removed wipers and found no voltage on dk/grn wire of connector (fuse106). Turns out that the wire bundle had chafed a wire near the inner fender liner to the point that it cut the wire and broke the connection.

Squeak under the hood. It appeared to squeak in relation to the movement of the tensioner......simple right? Replaced Tensioner and Belt..... Still squeaking.
AC not working at all. Compressor never kicking on.....replaced compressor, accumulator, and orifice tube. AC works now!.....squeak still there....
Notice fan wobbling.....shut truck off.....fan clutch shot... replaced....STILL SQUEAKING!!
Obvious answer....sound still on that side of the engine....Idler pulley....I just replaced it and the dang truck is still squeaking!!!!!!!!!
All that's left is the harmonic balancer, alternator, and power steering pump.......What could it be?
I am needing to replace the front hub wheel bearing assemblies on my 03 F250 4x4. I know Ford changed the studs from coarse thread to fine thread in between the 02 and 03 model years. Mine has a build date of 08/02 and I haven't been able to find the exact date they switched over. I'm ordering the parts online and want to get it right the first time.

View 3 RepliesI have a 2003 F250, 4x4, 5.4L and today my fuel gauge stopped working. I don't know if it had anything to do with a stall, I was on an exit ramp and the truck cut off, I quickly restarted and no issues after that. Other than the fuel gauge not working at this point.
I looked at the fuse panel diagram and there is no fuse for just the fuel gauge. The only thing I see is #35, instrument cluster. The rest of my instruments are working, so what else would cause the fuel gauge to stop working? It had a little over a half of a tank before the stall, after the stall it went down to less than half. I filled up shortly later and it's just stuck at less than half.
I have a 2003 F250 Super Duty 5.4 crew cab. Cruise light comes on when engaged but does not work. I did some research on why its not working checked wiring at the throttle body it seemed ok, Fuse is ok. Also did the self test and everything passed with just one flash but cruise still does not work. I read about many problems with the brake pressure switch but would it pass the self test if that pressure switch was bad? Also what should a switch cost. Local dealer wanted $125.00 for a new one and I have read where they cost around $15.00 - $20.00.
View 12 RepliesI have 2002 F250 7.3 Auto, I recently tried to put my truck in to 4 wheel drive and it is not working. It has WARN manual locking hubs, which I locked. Dash indicator came on and I can hear it click on the transfer case. Yet it isn't driving the front tires. It shouldn't be a vacuum issue considering it had been converted to manual hubs should it?
View 5 RepliesWhen I shift into 4Lo I get no 4 wheel drive. 4Hi works. Did have a/c redirect to defrost a couple of times. I remember something about the air redirecting having something to do with not having 4x4 but don't know just what it was.

My 2009 F-350 4x4 has a front wheel option of Auto or Lock ; I think I understand the Auto option but under what circumstances would I lock the hubs and is it safe to leave them in the Lock mode when traveling on the highway?
