View 3 RepliesSo yesterday we were towing our camper home from a weekend trip. We were pulling on the interstate at about 70mph, up a slight grade into a strong headwind. The outside temp was about 85 degrees, so not too hot out. After about 5 miles I got antifreeze sprayed on my windshield, coming from under the left front corner of the hood. The water temp held at about 220 degrees where it usually runs when towing hard but the oil temperature steadily worked up to about 240 degrees. I limped to the nearest place to stop and pulled over to let it cool down.
After it cooled down I added water to bring it back up to the minimum mark. We were 200 miles from home on a Sunday so I stopped in the local Wal Mart and picked up a can of stop leak and poured that in then we hit the road again. About 10 miles down the road the water again sprayed onto the windshield and the oil temp came up, this time hitting about 260. The water temp stayed between 218 and 220, once working up to 225, so I slowed down and the temps came down. I was able to creep along and made it 50 miles to a relatives house where I let it cool again and added more water.
When we hit the road again we made it about 10 miles and the oil temp had worked back up to 240, water temp stayed around 218 so I stopped at my parents house and dropped the camper. We drove the 100 miles home from there without the camper. The water temp stayed around 195 and the oil temp held at 212. If I got over 60mph the oil temp came up, but keeping it under 60 the temp held. So, what is wrong with my truck? Is the oil temp up because I was a gallon and a half low on water? The most I had to put in was a gallon and a half. Did I plug the oil cooler up with the stop leak?
The oil temp when towing has always ran 12 to 18 degrees higher than the water temp. I forgot to add, 2005 F350 with the 6.0 diesel. 240,000 miles on the truck. I have owned it just under a year and don't know a lot about it. I don't know if it has had any work done to it prior to my owning it, the antifreeze looks orange or yellow colored.
Over the last two weeks I have had an intermittent no start on my 2005 F350 6.0. on four different occasions. With enough cranking and charging batteries it would start again. I am running a scangauge, during these no-starts ICP was at 200. I pulled the IPR and the screen was damaged so I ordered a new one thinking the IPR would fail intermittently. Replaced the IPR last night with a new one, and truck ran great. Started it three different times with no problems and let it run about twenty minutes.
This morning, another no-start, but IPR is at 1162 psi now during cranking. I am thinking fuel delivery now, but have not yet checked fuel pressure, I need to find an adapter for the M12-1.5 port on the secondary fuel filter.

Codes: Threw a code this morning during long crank "P2614 - Camshaft position output circuit" - One forum stated that this code will appear during long cranks - don't think this is my problem. This is the only code that it has kicked out during this issue.

I picked up my 05 F350 dually 5 speed w/ the 6.0 powerstroke motor in august... It only had 38k on it when I bought it... its got 43K miles on it now...
Ran great in the warm weather but ever since it got cold out its been a struggle. It was running rough on the way home and kept stalling while i was driving it.. (acting like it was starving for fuel).
I went and replaced both fuel filters and started the truck... let it warm up and it stalled while sitting in my drive way and haven't been able to start it since...
I have fuel additive in it but since I don't drive it all the time (maybe 3 times a week for 30 miles) could it be possible that the fuel is gelling?
I was going to check the EGR valve tonight...
I have a 2005 f350 6.0 has 585000. Installed new hpop and lpop and new ipr .pressured oil system with air don't hear any leaks. After truck done started then put truck together no start same problem as before. No oil pressure on dash. All checks goqd except not enough high pressure.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2005 F350 diesel, 54000 miles. I was at a red light today, engine is idling normaly.. light turns green and I step on the throttle and get nothing. My truck is rolling (in drive) as if it were in nuetral. I shut the engine off and it does not start for 10 to 15 min. Then it fires up and seems to be running as if nothing happened.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2005 ford f250 super duty 5.4L the problem am having is the other day I took the truck out the yard an parked it across the street. 2 hours later I went back to move it it would not start the engine just kept rolling over I did this for about an hour it still refused to start. 2 days later I tried it again it started without any problems. I put a code reader on it it said P0453 fuel tank pressure sensor. If that is going bad would that cause that problem or would it be another cause.
View 2 RepliesI have and 05 F350 4X4. I put it into 4 wheel drive high yesterday to make sure every thing was working correctly and it was so I went to 4 wheel low and that worked fine. Problem is it won't come out of 4 wheel low. I didn't try to go back to 2 wheel when I was in 4 high. What to look for? The truck has the electric switch to engage 4 wheel.
View 12 RepliesRecently drove a 3500 mile road trip with no issues after installing a SCT X4 programmer from 5 star. Upon returning home the following week the ABS light came on and has not gone off. Additionally, last week the truck stalled while driving down the road at around 45 mph. Had something similar happen last summer, got the truck stuck and was trying to rock it in the mud and every time I shifted from reverse or forward the rpm's dropped to 500 and the truck could not respond to the gas pedal and the ABS light came on. Once I got out and washed all the mud from under it light went off and it ran fine without any warning lights.
Truck is an 05, V-10, 4x4, off road and tow package, lariat. No other mods besides the programmer.
My dad gave his 2005 Ford F-350 truck with the gas 5.4L (?) I drove it home. If i floor it it misfires badly, or if the RPM's get over 3000 it misfires then about 3800 it stops and keeps going. but i can't give it to much gas....
The spark plugs where replaced 2 years ago along with the cat converters. I can hear some very fait manifold gasket leak ...
A few days ago it was raining and it had a bad misfire with blinking CEL. but it never threw a solid CLE. can i still put the codes on it to see what cylinder it is? Are these issue related? Where should i start?
2005 F-350 diesel... When I first got it the radio was shutting off by its self, my 02 did the same thing so I wasn't to worried about it.
But things have advanced , radio shuts off , windows wont work? Goes on and off at will , does not seem to be road bump related as they go off and on when Im not moving.
Will stay off until I restart truck sometimes and other times it only stays off for a few minutes.
On my 05 350, I noticed the other day that my 4wd wasn't working, when I needed it of course. I quick test this morning and I discovered my PS hub is not locking in. I've read a lot of posts about it being the opposite, the auto portion causing a problem. In my case, it won't lock in in auto or manually turning. I can lock it in, spin the wheel and the axle shaft isn't turning. The pressure is the same as the other side, not too loose or too stiff. Can I pull the hub assembly off and rebuild it? I watched a video about that, but not sure on how my issue would allow me to work on it.

View 11 Replies2005 F350 4x4... I just installed some Bilstein 5100 on all 4 corners. Stock truck. No lift.
Now every bump I go over the truck squeaks and creaks like crazy. It's embarrassing. Sounds like bushings? Truck was fine before with the stock Ranchos.
I torqued rear to 46ftlbs and front to 76ftlbs. I tightened the top nut until the bushings compressed 1/4" each.
No instructions came with them. Do I need to lube something?
This was a last minute install before a road trip and they ride great but I'm hoping the noise is something I can take care of.
I have a 2005 f350 with the power stroke I went through the hole vacuum system all new hubs, seals, vacuum actuator and fixed it all now I'm having the reverse problems everyone has my hubs are locked all the time as soon as I plug in the vacuum actuator the transfer case is still in 2wd and will switch 4x4 and work and disengage but the hubs are always in unless I unplug the actuator ...

View 14 RepliesI know there are tons of threads on this and ive spent hours reading through them. but there are a few differences to mine.
2005 F350 6.0l regular cab long box. 4" lift on Duratec 33". Wheels balanced, driveshafts balanced, all u-joints checked and 1 was replaced (made no noticeable difference), all new brakes and rotors recently(due to wear)
When im not towing, vibration is noticeable between 60-65, but its only slight and i can live with it. Its felt in the seat and not the wheel.
There is also a very low grinding/pulsing feeling that happens as i am slowing down from highway speeds starting at around 10 mph until I completely stop. Its not the brakes and feels driveline to me. Can only be felt at these very low speeds while decelerating/coasting. Feel it in the seat and not the wheel. Not the end of the world but i have a feeling its related to my high speed issues. It is not felt on acceleration and I don't feel it when I am moving around parking lots/etc. ONLY when decelerating from highway speeds.
When I am towing the vibration randomly gets really bad right around 65mph the whole truck shakes and its very uncomfortable. It doesn't matter if I am on the gas or not, hill or no hill. If i slow down to 60 it goes away. It is very rhythmic with road speed (3 pulses with a slight pause)
Been doing a lot more towing lately and its bugging me. I keep falling back on tires, but not quite ready to bite the bullet on new tires as the ones on it still have tons of life left.
I had a 05 f350 5.4 3v come into my shop with a CEL. Did the usual it had a p0307. So I did the usual again changed plug and coil plug cam out no prob they were done 15k ago. Test drove a few times and it was fine. Few days later customer brought back with same code p0307. thought maybe I got a bad plug or coil so I moved them to #6, misfire stays on #7. When I drive it local its fine when I go to pull on to highway and really put my foot in it CEL flashes (misfire) and it pings like crazy and loses all power. Scan it back at shop and still only p0307!!

Is there a way to adjust this light so it will come on with maybe 20-30 miles to go before running out? Its seems to only have maybe a gallon in the tank when this light comes on...

View 6 RepliesMy '05 F350 PSD has developed a pretty bad vibration most noticeable above 40mph but only under acceleration. As soon as i hit speed and let off the gas its gone but if i accelerate again to pick up the speed i lost its back. Haven't looked into it too much yet as i was busy all weekend and drove the Expy but I did get down there and don't have an obviously bad u-joint or carrier bearing. I'm also gonna see if i popped off a driveline weight or something.
