I have an 08 F350 regular cab 4X4 that the cargo light doesn't work, Is this powered from the interior light like the old ones? or does it get its power from the GEM module? If it comes from the GEM is it possible to feed it like the old ones from the interior dome light without killing something? I really miss having a cargo light.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2008 F350 Super Duty Regular cab long bed 4X4 I have no cargo light and no third Brake light, checked and even replaced bulbs. Still have no lights up top, what to check or how to fix this? Can I tie the cargo light into the dome light inside without screwing something up? I can't understand why they stopped hooking the cargo light to the dome light but this one seems to be wired separate. Would love to get these lights working again. When I bough t the truck the cargo light didn't work and I thought maybe the bulbs were burnt out, I never checked the brake light I tried to get the cargo light working and that's when I found out the brake light didn't work either.
View 3 RepliesTwo days ago I noticed that I had one of my cargo lights that didn't light up---I took the light off and the bulb was blown, and other was OK. I picked up a couple of bulbs and I replaced both of them. Now, neither one will burn. I checked the bulbs with an ohm meter--they were good---checked the #10 fuse at the passenger kick panel and all OK, but I don't have voltage at the light sockets now. If the bulbs I used were a greater wattage than the originals, would that have sent an overload signal to the SJB (smart junction box) and stopped the supply of power to the lights? I'm tempted to put it right back where I started, with the one good, used bulb and see what happens then.
View 2 RepliesI have a 99 ext cab with a 7.3. My dome and cargo lights only come on when I use the key fob to unlock the doors or when I first shut the truck off. They do not work with the dash switch or when a door opens while the truck is on. Also the doors will lock automatically when I turn the key on even when open, which it has not done before. I don't think the door switches are bad because the door ajar light only comes on when one of the doors are open and it goes off when the doors close. Here is what I have done so far. Sprayed doors with wd-40, Checked all fuses including #14. put a new relay in spot #1 in the fuse box. I am thinking either the gem or the vsm, but I'm not sure how to check either one of those or which one would be controlling that particular function.

View 1 RepliesHave a 2008 F-450 that I just got and the trailer light outlet does not work. There is constant power to one pin and nothing on the tail/turn/stop pins. I have checked all of the fuses and relays and they seem to been fine. And yes, I did a search and did not come up with anything.

I was hauling a car the other day and all of a sudden all these lights and faults came on then my speedo quit working and also the odo don't calculate mileage. I changed the speed sensor at the top of the rear end and still nothing. Cruise control also don't work..
View 14 RepliesReplaced HPFP 38,000 miles ago. Truck began going in limp mode without engine light, wrench came on in dash, gave codes for brake switch, anti-theft, some other weird codes. Had those codes cleared, ran for while then water separator came on, drained the water out, came back on. Read some forums, so I removed and cleaned the housing, cleaned off the sensor. Had code cleared and ran good for about a week. Then guess what engine light comes on, limp mode.
Went to Auto Zone, pulled code P0088. This truck runs awesome until limp mode. No other problems. I take it to the ford dealer, scanner pulled P0088 and the water separator code again. I have read alot of remarks about this P0088 code. Can there be another cause for pulling this code, only 38,000 miles later. I had them do the TSB 12-07-07 but I have also read it can only be done if the P0088 is the only code. I just really feel there is an underlying issue with these 6.4's.
I'm having a strange issue with my 2008 F350 6.4. I have only had this truck for about 2 months now. Every time it gets wet (from rain or a carwash), the 4x4 low light begins flashing, and the truck surges badly at low speeds. When I get above about 25 MPH, the light stops, and the truck runs normally. At the next stoplight, it happens all over again. After a couple days of dry time (?), the truck is back to normal (until it gets wet again). I have found a couple of old threads involving some similar symptoms, but they were never resolved on this forum (that I could find). I believe the transfer case selector motor has been replaced at some point, as it has a Dorman brand sticker on it. I wouldn't think Ford would use Dorman parts as original equipment.
View 4 RepliesSo I 2003 6.0 F350 that is a Dually. Been sitting in my yard for about two years now. I turn the key it just clicks and it doesn't crank. The starter solenoid is not on the firewall so I use the trick with the battery connected positive straight to the starter with the whit The starter solenoid is not on the firewall so I use the trick with the battery connected positive straight to the starter with the wire on the engine bay. It cranked for a while and that started ran rough. Then it just died. I did not start again. I did this during winter so the engine have time to cool off it was about below freezing. Done this multiple times and drove up and down in my backyard but not on the road. What could be wrong with it. Either way I put in diesel 911 and more fuel but and I change the filters with Motorcraft OEM filters. Sure that the caps were right.
View 14 RepliesI have a 1999(03/98 Production Date) F350 DRW Dump 5.4L Reg Cab. I just replaced the ECM (Drivers side Kick plate) with a used ECM
1. Crank but no start, gauges worked.
2. Replaced the ECM (Drivers side Kick plate) with a used ECM
3. Truck now starts.
4. None of the Instrument gauges work. No gas gauge, no speedo, no tach, no bat no odometer or trip odometer. Not one single gauge works.
Does the ECM need to flashed for the cluster to work or might it be a separate issue?
Just picked up a 99 F-350 V-10 today. Decently clean, works well. It'll be an occasional tow vehicle for hauling my car to car shows.
Anyhow, on the way home, I couldn't get the cruise control to work. I've read about the brake pressure switch problem before joining today. I can hit the on button and set it, and the cruise indicator lights up in the dash and will stay on, but will not hold the speed.
From what I've read, I can't seem to determine if the brake pressure switch will allow the light to come on or not. Should I be looking elsewhere for the problem?
Next fix - overhead console. That one seems simple.
I'm sure this is a common issue, but I don't know exactly what to search for. I have a 2001 F250 7.3L. When I stop my truck, with my foot on the brake, the steering absolutely doesn't work. I replaced the PS pump, which it needed, plus all the hoses and it got better, but the no steer problem while braking is still there. I have seen that an upgrade in pressure hoses may work?

View 11 RepliesMy sons 2006 F350 brake lights and rear turn signals quit working. When the headlights are on, all the lights operate but the rear turn signals and brake lights do not nor do the emergency flashers. The front signals work but flash very rapidly. Although I'm not an auto electrician, I'm fairly mechanically inclined but the fact that the front signals work, the rear don't and all lights work as lights, just not as turn signals or brake lights.
View 4 RepliesI am switching over to 08 door panels so in my attempt to rewire the door locks I crossed a bunch of wire that I shouldn't have because I had the wrong pin out and I shorted out the circuit. I rebuilt my 08 switches with the 04 parts so now I can reuse my old wiring connectors. I just soldered the old connectors back on and replaced the 30 amp fuse for the power locks. for some reason only the lock function on the passenger side works and it locks both doors but I have no unlock function on the passenger side or anything on the drivers side. Are there any other fuses that I could have missed? I don't have long to do anything invasive but as far as fuses I have all day to replace them. Basically I shorted stuff then I put everything back to the way it was stock and now my locks no worky
