A couple days ago, my Excursion started skipping 2nd gear when driving in D. The RPMs will go up to 3500 or so before slamming into 3rd gear. Shifting in all other gears works fine. However, when manually shifting through the gears (1, 2, D), it finds 2nd gear and shifts fine. I am mechanically inclined when it comes to engines, but not an auto trans.

Controller and have installed the mild download and run on the street setting for every day and tow setting while towing my fithwheel, when I just took it out for a test drive towing the fit wheel going up hill it kept shifting up and down which sure felt like 3rd and 5th because rpm would go from about 3500 to 1500 back and forth so it sure felt like it was not hitting 4th, could this be a controller issue?
View 4 RepliesI have a 99 f250 that seems like it has a bad coil, under a load it starts surging or bumping ( like it has in the past and I found a bad coil), I went through and unplugged each coil one by one while idling, couldn't find a bad one, so I bought a new coil and went through and rotated the coils, nothing worked, no check engine lights on.
View 9 Repliesjust bought a 01 f350 v10, 40,000 miles, plowing beast, anyways when taking off truck seems sluggish, give it more gas as its fine. At idle there appears to be a skip. There are no check engine lights on, could it be the coil pack or even maybe fuel problem? Have done plenty to this beast to get it close to perfect and this motor issue is it.

View 1 Replies2005 f350srw 6.0 ps. If I stomp it for less than about 5 seconds no issues. Passing a car on a 2 lane or pulling a grade with the 5'r (longer sustained high boost over about 5 seconds) it will pull fine until normal driving recurs. Once normal driving recurs, converter locked 5th gear zero boost on accell. If I mash it to down shift it will stumble stumble stumble black smoke then finally boost fine. Let off same no boost issue. It seems to "reset" after about 4 miles/ 4 minutes. Sct canned tunes/ custom tunes don't make a diff. My dd is idp unlimited tow and 40 ficm tune. I cleaned ebp tube and sensor no change. Haven't tested sensor. I'm wondering if it's low fuel pressure related. Fixing to sell truck and want to fix this. Been going on for a year or so. Hasn't always been this way.
View 5 RepliesOne of the super coils busted while driving my 2002 F250 Super Duty. I drove it for less than 100 ft. before parking it. It made a rapid "check,check,check,check" sound, which I'm assuming was mainly the coil smacking against other parts while loose. It busted near the point where it screws into the motor. I felt like I lost some compression as it drove sluggishly once broken, although I only drove for a very short time. I also thought I may have smelt a slight burning scent, or maybe oil, but didn't smell anything once I got out of my truck. Any problems I should look forward to other than simply replacing this coil?

View 14 RepliesFriend's truck started shifting wierd the other day, starts in second gear (maybe higher). The transmission is a fresh rebuild, the shop wouldn't warranty the rebuild and blamed electrical problems outside the tranny. Fuses are all good, engine light is on but the cheapo code reader won't show a code. Did a search and no answers. Had the overdrive light flashing from before, that code was for a wheel speed sensor.

I just purchased a 2016 motorhome on a f53 chasis with v10 engine. The transmission has D, 4, 2, and 1. THERE is also a tow/ haul button. What gear do I put the transmission when going uphill and downhill. I am traveling in Shenandoah Valley and when I was rolling downhill the rpm began to race between 3-4k rpm without my foot on the gas pedal. Is this normal, I was in regular D mode. Going uphill I controlled my acceleration and I was at 2500 rpm. I just don't want to use incorrectly and affect my transmission and engine.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2001 f250 7.3L. I bought it with 192,000 miles and have driven it to 206,000 in the last 6 months. When I put it in gear, the truck will "bog" down and sometimes die. I will have to refill the transmission fluid every 2 weeks but I can't find where it's leaking.

View 2 RepliesI have an issue with a truck I just bought. Sometimes, it doesn't go to Park when I shut it down. In order to start it I have to sometimes put it in neutral. Once in a while it will start when in the Park gear. What I should look into to fix it? It doesn't seem like a big deal.
View 6 RepliesTruck is slipping in/out of gear in 3rd gear. Shut it off and the problem may not come back for several days, but in general it is getting more frequent. No codes are registering for the transmission. Curious the wisdom of performing a simple fluid/filter change vs taking it to the transmission shop. Fluid basically looks/smells good, and is full.

View 8 RepliesI have a 1999 F-250 V10, I went to get into my truck to go to Lowes and only to learn I forgot my wallet. Here is where my problem lye. I came back home and decided to wait until the next morning to go back to Lowes, so I go to get in my truck cranked it up and went to put in reverse and it didn't move. It is like it is in neutral; so I went and put it in drive and still, it would not move. It is like it is in neutral. I can not figure out what is going on with my truck.
View 12 RepliesI have a 99 7.3 F350 with 5 speed manual with over 300,000 miles. Grinds bad shifting into 3rd, and nothing happens in 4th. I think it is a S5-47-ZF. Is a 6 speed manual comparable to bolt up to bell housing?

Last night I had put it in 4high for a rough road turn-around and then flipped the switch back to 2H, the 4x4 light didn't go off. Then when I got to the house (about 1/2 mile), it rolled when put in park and now it won't go into any gear.
