I picked up my beloved 20th last week. It has this feature that when you shut the car off it closes the windows and sunroof. It's very annoying. Is this an aftermarket item that is doing this or is it a stock program? I don't think the car has an aftermarket alarm but I'm not 100% positive.

View 16 RepliesI went to go get gas today and tried to open my fuel door with he button on my door and it wouldn't open. The trunk opened fine but when I pressed the gas button it made no noise and didn't move at all. I've never had a problem with my fuel cap and all of my locks besides this one work fine. I also can't manually open my fuel cap from the back, because in my GLI, you can't bet much further back behind the tail lights.
View 2 RepliesI've got a 20th and the backlighting on sunroof control is not lit. I haven't really checked fuses or anything yet, I plan on doing that tomorrow when it's light out.
View 6 RepliesI have an Imola 20th and recently i have been having some problems with my clutch. The pedal goes from being soft to very hard when its close to disengaging. It also engages very heavily when I go to let it out. This only started happening recently when temperatures started to drop if this has any effect on a clutch. Also, I replaced a shift fork two months ago and was curious if there was possibly anything going on with seals around the slave cylinder.

View 5 RepliesJust checking in to see where you'd recommend to start looking for a rough idle issue. It seems to get worse once the car fully warms up. I took a vid, and although it may not seem horrible in the video, it sometimes causes throttle lag from a stop and causes the car to get close to stalling when falling from high RPM's. View 2 RepliesI have an automatic gti/337 , on friday my transmission started slipping , while I would be driving on D the rpm would rev like crazy as if it was on N, I had to decelerate then accelerate in order for it to work. anyways i changed the transmission fluid and still having the same problem.
Ill be taking it to a mechanic tomorrow, but what to expect tomorrow? Its a 2002 two doors gti/337 ...
I have a 05 gli and leaking water from drive side visor towards the sun roof. Would the drain be clogged from the sunroof. My seat is getting wet....
View 7 RepliesI have a 2002 1.8 Turbo VW GTI. Lately I've noticed that the car would hesitate slightly when slowing down. It would go up to at least 5000 RPM's or higher before it shifted over. The hesitation when slowing down and accelerating tend to happen when I drive. What to do, I went to the vw company they said if i want to change the transmission would cost me ~6k$ and f*ck me twice if if am paying 6k on a 2002 car.

View 4 RepliesI have an 04 GLI with around 130,000 miles. I have developed a squeaking noise coming from the front end of the car. I cant really tell if its the right or left side. I can tell you i only hear it when driving under 30 mph and it seems to happen more often when i slightly turn the wheel to the right. Also when i accelerate from a stop or let off the clutch pedal into 2nd or 3rd. I wonder if it could be the wheel bearings going bad? I replaced both front and rear control arm bushings back in December just for some background. FYI, by squeaking i mean the sound of metal to metal. Its not a squeal or hiss, or anything to do with a boost leak. When you hear it, it sounds like a squeak, squeak, squeak kinda pattern but comes and goes depending on speed and the turning of the steering wheel.

View 1 RepliesSo tonight at 8:30 I started up my car to get ready to leave work. I turned my light switch to activate the headlights and I only saw the amber light on the wall in front of me. I was worried because I need headlights in order to get home. I tried activating the fogs and turning the switch on and off but only my parking lights were working. I turned the car on and off a few times and all of a sudden the headlights finally turned on. I drove around town afterwards to run errands and the headlights were turning on just fine. What would cause this issue and I really don't want it to get to the point where I can't drive my car at night.
View 8 RepliesI just got 4 brand new tires put on balanced and aligned twice. Now when the wheel is straight i get minimal vibration. But if I turn left I get no vibration. When I turn right at all its a pretty medium loudness vibration. almost sounds like something rubbing. Now I just found out my coilovers are all messed up on height. If I level it do you think that will fix my vibration? the guy at tire plus said possible transmission causing vibration but the tranny seems fine to me. he also said if I raised it about a quarter inch it could stop it all together possibly. But I love being low....

View 3 RepliesI just rolled 100k in the 337. Time to do some refreshing. 2 noticeable issues (non-motor related anyway )
1 - sometimes when turning hard left to right, or vice versa, I hear and feel a "cluck", almost like the something is shifting.
2 - I've got a creak from the front (and I think maybe the back too) when I get out of the car. Sometimes I hear it when I slowly go over a bump as well.
3- I think my rear shocks are on the way out.
In the last 15k I replaced both the inner and outer tie rods. That's all I've done to the suspension.
When I turn left sharply i hear a rubbing sound. I thought it was just tire rubbing but I am not sure. What else could it be? The car is stock height stock everything. It just got new brakes and tires recently. it looks like something is rubbing the cv boot....
