I have an 04 Gli with 85000 miles on it. I just had the clutch done with a conversion from a dual mass to a single. When the car is idling there is some chatter coming from the tranny but it stops once i press the clutch.

Around 2 months ago after coming back from vacation, i noticed that when shift from 1st to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd, there is horrible chatter/vibration coming from i assume the clutch/tranny. its been getting progressively worse and its at a point where i can hear the spare change rattle in the cup holder. the car had been sitting for a month, and i sort of "broke it in again" when i got back from vacation, not revving over 3 on the first tank, not over 4 on the second. It does have 100k kms on it, solid mix of highway and city. Is this something easily fixable, i dont have a warranty so i'd have to go aftermarket. Not down to pay two arms and 3 legs for something that could put me back in this situation yet again. if its the clutch id just go aftermarket with something a lot better, or if its the tranny id put a 6 speed in it, really lacking on the highway i believe. Or maybe it's something else.

View 8 RepliesOne day i was driving my pedal went flat to the floor ,then i noticed my brake fluid was low so then i tried adding more fluid and bleeding it n pumping the clutch i got pressure back, but now i hear chatter in the tranny and it wasn't doing that till after I bleed it. It will go into gear with the car off but as soon as the car starts in wont at all.

View 3 RepliesSo your clutch pedal operates properly, the clutch engages with no issues, but this annoying squeak, snap, crackle, and pop noise keeps coming from the clutch pedal within the cabin.
Could it be your clutch master cylinder? CMC is not leaking in the engine bay and the driver footwell. Not the CMC.
Could it be your clutch switch that's used to control revs and cruise control? Removed it and clutch pedal still made noises when pressing and releasing the pedal. Not the CS.
Could it be the over-center spring that sits behind the clutch pedal assembly? How could it be? It's just a spring. Springs that compress in that orientation don't make snap, crackle, and pop noises.
What most people fail to realize is the noise is coming from the pedal assembly, but it's not the pedal structure or the pedal. It's the pivot point where it mates with the clutch pedal mounting bracket. At the pivot point are two bushings (one on each side of the pedal structure) that wears out over time creating these noises.
Please look up the part number for these bushings. They look like the following at this link but these are aftermarket upgrades for BMW's.[URL] ....
Well I didn't drive my 20th this weekend, and this morning when I left to go to work it was kind of sputtering when i pressed the gas, and when i stopped the CEL flashed, which I know means its a mis fire. But then turned off so I kept going to see if it would happen again, It didn't, ran just fine no sputtering or anything. Question is, what would cause this to happen?

View 18 RepliesI have a 2004 VW jetta GLI 1.8 turbo and when i get it to about three and a half grand it feels like my turbo is giving out, all acceleration stops. But I doesn't do it all the time, meaning not every time i step on the gas, like I can step on it all through first and second, and it will do it in third or visa-versa. Which leads me to believe that it could be a fuel delivery problem but I don't know, im new to the VW game. The check engine light will come on while the car is bogging down but as soon as the rpms go down it will turn off.

I was redlining 1st 2nd and it wouldn't go into 3rd tried 2-3 times finally did. but I believe it went into first instead! I think I was driving like 50-60 mpg I don't know. Anyways it JERKED BADLY. I think right after it started making a noise. sounds like the manifold or downpipe gasket. I know the flex part of my cheap downpipe started like tearing and ripping, so I thought that just broke thru. maybe I don't know. I drove the car home. tranny worked flawlessly. every gear very smooth like always. (redline tranny fluid). at home I jacked it up took the bumper off. and listened where the sounds were coming from. not power steering. it sounds like a hose is loose. but I checked nothing. I put my ear next to the tranny. sounds like it coming from there. nothing changes when I depress the clutch. when I start driving the sound goes away I think. can't hear the cause of aftermarket exhaust. and stage 2 chip tunning APR 93.
After all, that believing it the downpipe. I put everything back on and drove it about 10 miles and this other sound came in. happened in 2nd after like 4-5krpm. maybe it was there from the beginning. I drove it slowly under 3k. but this sound is like rattling and kinda vibrates the clutch a little. it happens after I accelerate and take my foot off the gas pedal. kinda when slowing down. I drove parked the car 2 hours later drove it home and 2-5th gear was making this rattling sound now.
I don't know what to do. I need to drive a car. should I drive it or not? do I need a new tranny/ is it fixable? should I park the car and take the tranny off/
how tightly are the flywheel bolts suppose to be tightened? something loose?
I did an auto to 6-speed swap.
Quick q recently just got a gli and I've noticed a knocking sound when accelerating and shifting from stops could this be my motor mounts ? I was thinking my tranny or clutch but everything runs smooth and goes into gear fine

View 7 RepliesI have a 05 gli w/ 65k miles. I got new plugs gaped correctly and new coils. When I'm idling at 7-800rpm my steering wheel shakes a little and when I flip on the ac it's even more noticeable. So much the rear view mirror shakes just a tad. What do yall think it could be cause it's not that bad but I'm anal about my cars and I want it to be perfect.

My check engine light comes on and blinks.. Got the codes ran and it came up... Cylinder 2 misfire and catalytic convertor threshold....
