Most of the time I take a corner I hear this somewhat knocking sound I believe its the back wiper but I'm not sure. Any easy fixes, besides the obvious replacing it.
View 10 RepliesSo I was driving home from my girls house the other day, i stepped on the gas pretty decently, and instead of the normal "whoosh" from the intake, i hear the "whoosh" with an extra loud "whoosh" sound. Then when i came to a halt, the engine wanted to stall out and was sputtering incredibly bad. car seems to run fine @ 2k rpms+. Now it actually does crap out on me, so I am currently not even driving it.
I got fault codes p0300, 0301, 0303, 0304. random misfires in cyls 1,3,4 right? I checked my hoses and I don't seem to have a leak anywhere...
Quick q recently just got a gli and I've noticed a knocking sound when accelerating and shifting from stops could this be my motor mounts ? I was thinking my tranny or clutch but everything runs smooth and goes into gear fine

Noticed that the back windshield wiper doesn't clean off the back window close enough to the horizontal bar going across the Prius V hatch? I have about 2-3 inches of dew remaining above the back hatch bar, which 'happens' to be the exact height of my eyes (I'm 6').
View 18 RepliesI've been having trouble with my rear wiper since forever. Every time i try to use the washer fluid for the rear, it doesn't squirt right and fills up the motorized lock for the trunk and malfunctions the lock for a day or 2 until it drys. I had this same problem with my old 1.8t gti, just in that case i had to have the whole lock replaced due to the damage from the washer fluid (luckily the dealer payed for it).
I was thinking maybe swapping it out for the polo rear wiper on ecs tuning.
MK7 So it rained for the first time since I bought the car. when pressing downward on the wiper lever it, the wiper arms began to shutter/jump when going back down to the rest position. When pressing up on the lever to just let them go on while driving I didn't experience this. Is this normal? She's only a week old.
View 16 RepliesFor the past few weeks, I've been struggling to find out why my windscreen keeps getting a light oily film after using the washer fluid (RAIN-X de-icer, which I've used for years). I replaced the wiper blades this past spring with an OEM/dealer set (worked perfectly), but recently noticed a streak from the right wiper that basically draws a vertical line right in front of my (driver's) line of sight. That is, when the right wiper comes all the way left before returning, it's that position of the blade that leaves an oily streak behind. Very annoying.
I first thought it was just road/winter dirt, but then went to a gas station, and touched the screen. It was oily. Further to that, it had an oily build-up on the blades (wiping them off with paper towel got all this black gunk off). I also noticed that the run-off on the lower part of the windscreen was oily too.
On top of that, the wiper arms had an oily film on them, which I'm wondering if it is a result of something from the wiper fluid, the resevoir, a pump issue, etc.
I do not see any leaks of the washer fluid on the ground. Is there some way that the washer fluid is getting contaminated with a light grade oil that is then being dispersed on my windscreen?? This is really weird, but is also very frustrating, especially when the weather in winter requires increased usage of the fluid.
There wasn't even a crank. Held the ignition for a couple of seconds and it starts. The next day I had the battery and the alternator checked, they were both good. Another couple days passed and it did not want to start again. Got it scanned no codes come up. I changed the ignition switch and still I have the same problem with no crank.
View 8 RepliesI'm having some sort of electrical malfunction on the back of my Mk4 Gti. The right rear tail light, license plate light and back windshield wiper doesn't work. I replaced the bulbs several times and they keep blowing.
View 2 RepliesI just had my windshield replaced due to a large rock cracking my old windshield a few weeks back. The new windshield does not have a fade up on the top, its just the same top to bottom. I was looking into just having the first 6 inches or so have tint put on. I think its called a banner tint when people do this. Does this look tacky? or is it okay. I have 35% tint all around.
View 3 RepliesThis started recently and it's definitely out of the norm... When I activate my signal and it switches off, i still hear the ticking but no lights are flashing. it'll go on for about a few sec then shut off, sometimes comes on even when i didn't activate my blinkers. Also when i start my car i feel a vibration from under my feet. Sounds like a knocking noise when i accelerate/turn. But then goes away after about 20 seconds of driving.
View 13 RepliesSo I was warming up my car after work tonight, and it was idling really rough right above 1RPMS and i heard a lil knocking noise from the engine what could have caused this? I was parked on a slight hill but i doubt that has something to do with it.
Also my buddy told me a way to see if my clutch was going out, is to try and kill the car while in gear, so i tried 1st time it shook really really bad but didn't die. So I tried again and it seemed like it was trying to catch its self and then shook bad again and then died. I did this in 1st gear just letting off the clutch before giving it gas. Does this mean my clutch could be going out already? the car only has 63k on it...
This is for a 2003 GTI, 89,00 miles. Every time I try to use the windshield cleaner the fuse blows for the windshield wipers. I have tried to put in a 25 amp fuse and it worked for a while but still blew. The windshield wiper motor has been replaced.
View 1 RepliesExperienced a loud "knocking" sound coming from the Passat's front end? It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it sounds like it's originating from the front axle area. I haven't pinpointed a pattern yet, but it seems to happen when there's additional weight being put on the front end--i.e. at the point of going down a hill to flat, or when initially going up a hill from flat. And no, I'm not bottoming out. Basically, the knock sound is so random/loud/alarming.
View 24 RepliesOkay, this all started a couple weeks ago when i first heard a weird knocking noise about 10 minutes after I left my house. I pulled the car over and it seemed to be coming from the right rear of the car. I started to turn around when it stopped. Over the next few days I notice the longer I let it warm up the sooner I hear the noise. I park in the garage and have read different things on the temp changing etc. About a week ago my check gas cap light went on shortly after I heard the knocking noise.
I pulled over to check if it was tightened and when i restarted it the light was off.... I didn't think much about it but this weekend it went on again, after I heard the noise and I pulled over to check it, tightened it and started. This time it did not go off. After letting the car sit for a bit and restarting it finally went away. Then again this morning 7/2 after hearing the noise the gas cap light goes off again...same thing as the last. Light will not go off... the car is parked right now and hopefully the light is off when I go back to turn it on.
Received error code P0445 now and gas cap light no longer on, check engine light now comes on. I had my bf locate the fuel pump and he ran it and the noise seems to come from there...(TY Savko@HSTuning). When he moved it the check engine light went off for about 15 minutes but eventually came back on. I read to replace gas cap first with a P0445 error so I ordered a new Gas Cap and if that doesn't work I guess the fuel pump will be next?
2004.5 GLI 1.8t. Its got 70k on the clock, its a Cali car, runs like a charm BUT... For some reason when it gets warmed up, it makes a knocking noise by the pass side floor board?
Its just at idle, i mean i can give it a little rev, and it doesn't seem to get worse so that eliminates bottom end or head... so???? Ive read some post on here that say... its nothing... just ignore it... but idk.
Like I said its just at idle and it sounds like its coming from the pass floorboard.... I left it running and popped the hood and couldn't hear it.
X2 nights ago at 11:45pm I was driving home from a friends house with my gf and were going about 65 on the highway and it's lightly raining, then all of a sudden my headlights, windsheld wipers, turnsignals, my ac/fans all just shut off so I had to pull over right away. After sitting there for about 15 mintues I figure out my high beams still work but only if I hold them on(clicking it on doesn't work. So I drive home and the next day check all the fuses in the drivers door and they r all fine. Everything else works in the car but the stuff stated above. My car was reposesd about a year ago when I lost my job and they put this thing I have to enter a code every month, it messed my windsheld wipers and turn signals up before but not anything else! But it still works and the other stuff doesn't, and behind the dash it sounded like crackling and smelt like burning electric right before it shut off.

I am going to be on the stock aristos for a bit but would like some poke, fill the fender or maybe even come out a little bit further.
I have a 05 gli and when in idle the rpms go down really low then shoot back up. what could be the cause and how would i go about fixing this?
