Golf/GTI VI :: AC Fan Getting Noisy

Oct 17, 2014

My AC fan has gotten noisy. Maybe the bearing is going or maybe I can oil it and get rid of the problem that way. Any instructions on how to access it?

Golf/GTI VI :: A/C Sounded A Little Noisy

Took my car in (2011 Golf Base 2dr 5spd) for it's 10k mile oil change and checkup and mentioned that the A/C sounded a little noisy, kind of like a whine, every so often. It didn't really bother me but my wife would complain about it. The air was ice cold and I just figured maybe it was normal. Well I got a call from the service advisor and he said the noise was due to an internal failure and they were going to replace the compressor. I sure was surprised. Got the car back and the A/C is just as cold and is now nice and quiet.

So if your A/C is even slightly noisy I would bring it up. Could save yourself having to replace a costly compressor down the road.

Golf/GTI VII :: 2015 - Noisy Suspension

Some replaced the rear shock absorbers with Bilstein B$ OEM shocks. One claimed it fixed the problem.

VW dealers and mechanic claim that is normal for the car , no repair necessary?!!?

Golf/GTI VI :: Noisy CV Boots When It Rains?

Do the wet boots make a clicking/rubbing type noise when turning on your car? It happen on my 2012 GTI, but only when it rains. It's really loud when I turn inside a parking garage. It's definitely not the joint itself, but rather is the rubber boot sticking to itself and releasing on the compressed side of the boot during the turn. No other car of mine has made this type of noise, even those with cheap Chinese aftermarket axles.

Golf VI R :: Noisy Rear Differential / Balancer?

Any troubleshooting tips on determining where the noise is coming from at the rear of the car? There is a pretty audible hum at 55 mph coming from the rear of the car and I am not sure if its the balancer or the diff. I'm reading horror stories of improperly serviced rear diffs causing the diff to fail and starting to freak out.

Golf VI R :: Noisy Dual Mass Fly Wheel?

I have had this basically since i got my car. I brought it up with VW and the best explanation they could offer was the DMF. When i set off, more so at low rpm and under load (like reversing out of a spot and continuing forward) i get a knock from the drivetrain. Its not super loud, but it is certainly noticeable. Everyone i have asked has said it just sounds like the Dual Mass Flywheel making noise, but should i be at all worried? I made sure i have it on record with VW that i noticed the noise and they said its no big deal.

Golf/GTI VII :: Rear View Camera Noisy?

In my 6 day old Golf TSI, I'm noticing the rearview camera is quite noisy when it deploys and retracts. I don't recall how it sounded during test drives, but I'm surprised I can hear it at all, let alone as loudly as it seems.

Likely normal, but thought I'd post this up to see what others are experiencing. Might drop by the dealership and check another one out for comparison.

Golf IV R32 :: Fuel Pump Noisy - Front End Clicking Noise?

I just bought my first .:R32. Having a few minor issues:

1. When I open the door in the morning, the fuel pump primes the system and makes a high pitched sound (kind of like RFI). It's there when I have the car on also. So do you think I should buy a new pump and take it with me just in case?

2. This was happening before I bought the car. When I first move either forwards or backwards there is a clicking sound coming from the right front of the car. After I get moving, it goes away.

3. Just replaced the front right coilover assembly and there is a clunking noise coming from the strut (I think). What it could be? Maybe strut top bushing? Or ball joint making weird noises?

Golf IV R32 :: Noisy Transmission - Loud Whining Corresponds With Engine Speed

Well, Car is in the shop to get the trans looked at. Loud whining noise in 1, 2, 3. corresponds with engine speed, not road speed. I think input shaft bearings are shot. Going to get a new clutch and throwout bearing while it's out. 116K miles.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Noisy Manual Trans In Reverse / Whining In 1st And 2nd Gear

I have an 04 Jetta 1.8T that I recently acquired and have a problem with a noisy manual tranny. Reverse is a bit noisy (more than usual) and when I get on it in 1st and 2nd gear it sounds like an awful whining noise. I have been told it could be either a bad throw out bearing or input bearing? BTW this thing shift perfect, like butter, no grinding at all.

Golf IV / Jetta IV :: Engine Loud On Morning Start / High Idle And Noisy

I'm not sure if this qualifies for a "cold start" but my 1.8T sounds imperfect when I start it for the first time of the day. It'll rev around 1200 RPM, instead of the normal 800RPM idle if I start it after it had recently been turned off for a short period.

It sounds almost like my old car that had an exhaust leak, but not as obnoxious. When it settles back down to 800RPM it really purrs and sounds great. Is this normal?

2003 Wolfsburg Jetta 1.8T, not sure if I wrote that in my profile yet. 41k miles and recently serviced for 40k milage. Has sounded this way before and after the service.

Corolla :: Noisy Over 70 MPH And Really Loud At 80 - 85

My Mom bought this automatic 1999 Corolla new. It has lived in Florida and has now taken up residence in Canada, Ontario. It has 38,500 miles on it,mostly driven at under 70miles per hour. As I drove this car to Canada, I noticed that it became noisy over 70mph and really noisy at 80-85. The noise remained the same from about 80 to 95mph. Putting it in neutral in the Tennessee hills it was much quieter coasting down the hills at high speed. It is not a wheel bearing, alignment or tire problem. The noise seems to be coming from the engine area. I don't understand why it is quiet up to 70? Exhaust ? Transmission? I Will have a mechanic look at it but I have had numerous misdiagnosis over the years.

Tiguan :: Seems Like Car Have Noisy Hydraulics

When I hit the brakes from a higher speed, say 40 mph+, they make a noise. It's the type of noise I would expect to hear along with a shudder, almost like ABS kicking in. It's just the noise though. No shudder, the brakes feel fine, no lights on the dash, nothing. It's a 2011 CPO with 31K miles.

Passat (B6) :: Front End Seems Noisy

First off it's NOT the strut mounts or bearings. I just wasted a bunch of money installing new ones. Hard to tell if the noise is only on the driverside, but its not just at low speeds. Kind of a clunking during up/down movement.

Touareg :: Electric Fan Very Noisy?

It's 26 degrees out, and my electric fan is running full tilt. It's quite loud... I can't understand why this thing would be running like it is, but I can't believe that it's normal for the radiator fan to go full tilt like that when it's this cold...
