how to remove the AC vents without breaking them? When I turned my AC on today it sounded like there was something blocking this vent and restricting airflow. It's very annoying and I'm not really sure how to go about trying to get in there to unblock the vent.
View 3 RepliesToday the left middle air vent in my 2006 Prius (the vent immediately to the left of the display/radio) suddenly stopped working. Or more accurately, the air flow suddenly became almost non-existent. All of the other vents work properly. This occurs regardless of the air flow setting.
The oak trees above our driveway are shedding leaves by the hundreds now, so I'm wondering if a leaf is blocking the flow. But is it possible for just one of the vents to become clogged this way?
My real question: is fixing this problem something that I can try on my own, or is getting access to the air vent something that I should leave up to a repair shop?
The driver and passenger side were no problems at all, but the center vent is giving me trouble. I've seen the how-to, but can't get it to pop out. I don't really have a proper screwdriver, at home, to push up on the two clips on the top inside of the vent, but I used a hard plastic interior trim removal tool, while prying at the top with another. I have left the bottom controls in as I can't pull the left side buttons out enough to disconnect them while the vent is still in.

But I have a question, Should I put in new tranny fluid? cause when I try to go fast and go from 1st to 2nd it gets blocked, but if I'm going slow and slowly feather the clutch it goes into the second fine.
Went to use my windshield defrost this morning on my way to work. everything went fine. Leaving work I selected the face vents with my AC on and it only blows hard from the windshield vent even though its already been depressed.

View 3 RepliesHave a super annoying rattle from the top vent on top of the dashboard in the middle. I can put my wifes handbag on it in order to stop it. Told the dealer about it the past 4 visits and get different answers every time but no fixes. Passed 15k miles and now they say rattle warranty is over so how hard is it to take the vent off so i can doctor some foam tape or something in there?
View 9 RepliesMy 2005 Prius just killed on me while driving, couldn't put car in neutral, had to get towed. Where the gears supposed to be it just shows blocks. Radio works but that's it. Went test 12 v auxiliary battery and it tested fine. When I place smart key in slot radio won't come on nor flashing lights on dash but if I hold key in my hand dash lights flash and I can power radio.
View 10 RepliesI have a 2010 GMC 3500 Savanah van with 6.0 motor. No heat in van. Engine operating temp is normal. Heater hose into core is hot. Hose coming out is barely warm. I am of course hoping for another explanation other then blocked heater core. The truck only has 45k miles. I am ready to backflush , but wondering if there can be any other explanation. A/C works normal.
View 1 RepliesI know this is a long shot but experienced a rattle coming from the center vent section and have a fix for it? Normally small rattles don't bother me, and it's a VW, but it's loud enough that I can hear it over the radio, so it's particularly annoying.
I took the headunit and vent out, tried to tighten the screws that secures the structure that holds the headunit in and looked around, didn't see anything. If you apply pressure to the top of the center vent it makes the rattle go away too.
So at this point, I'll have to take it into the dealer unless someone has a found a fix for it. 3,000 miles and three problems that have required trips to the dealership /end rant
I ordered the gauge kit, installed it with the printed out DIY (CIMs)
Looks great, everything is tight, no leaks. All power going to the gauge (even the dimmer).
When power is connected via the plug in the back of the gauge, the needle goes from -30 to 30, full swing like some newer vehicles, not when the car is turned on.
Here's the problem, is doesnt read anything. Sits at -30 at idle, rev (limiter) and under load. The DIY says it should be somewhere around -20 at idle.
The only thing I can think of is the pressure sending unit is broken. I know faulty equipment is not uncommon and I'm not mad if that is the case as long as it gets resolved, I just want to get this thing working. This is NOT a bash against CIM either, I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea.
Also, I used a forge boost tap. Everything tight, and secure, no leaks going to the filter, or the 4" hose from filter to psi sending unit. Did I miss anything that's not in the write up? Early 11 model DSG MKVI
When ever I turn my vent air on or change the temperature dial in my golf (non-climate control) the A/C turns on. If I just have the heater on and its too warm and I turn the dial from red toward blue the A/C will turn it self on. If I keep the heat the same and turn the fan from 1 to 2 the A/c will turn itself on. (At least the A/C signal lights up yellow.)
Is this normal for the golf or is something screwy? maybe it needs the ac to dehumidify or something but it is tough to constantly manually turn off the a/c. And btw If I hit the "off" button, the a/c will turn off, but then turn itself back on if i do any thing else.
