I recently purchased my first car/jetta. When i switch the knob to turn on the instrument lights on my 2000 jetta the headlights don't come on. But when i turn the knob off the auto headlights turn on. Any insight on this? when i first got the car everything was working fine. It only started to happen after I replaced the radiator.
View 6 Replies1999 Buick Regal. Instrument panel lights will not come on when we turn on the headlights. The dimmer knob is turned correctly. I've checked all the appropriate fuses (I think). The radio display is also affected. The time display almost completely dims out. This even happens when the headlights come on automatically at dusk.
View 3 RepliesJust wondering if it's possible to have the driving lights/fogs to turn on with the headlights when the switch is in AUTO? We prefer to just leave the switch in AUTO mode, but it defeats the purpose of even having the front driving lights as they are never used.

View 6 RepliesSo I know these posts a a dime a dozen but unlike most i know what did to cause the lights to go out.
I unplugged the dimmer switch harness and headlight switch harness to clean the air vents. When i plugged everything back in, none of the red or blue backlighting turns on when i turn the headlight switch. The instrument cluster and all the trim remains dark.
At first my turn signals were not working but they have begun working again. headlights and break lights all work. and my interior dome lights work.
I checked every fuse i could think of that would relate to the interior lighting and everything looks fine there. is there something else i can check?
I'm having problems with my front marker lights. The turn signals work but when I turn on the parking lights or headlights they don't work. They only work with the turn signals. And I can't get the front side marker lights to come on. I've tried everything...
View 2 RepliesGot in the car this morning and my headlights,windshield wipers, and turn signals would all not turn on or work.
I'm not sure if the this is a problem with the stalks on the steering column or possibly a relay.
When i pull the left stalk my high beams will come on but only when i do that.
The windshield wipers would not turn on at all and the windshield wash would not even spray as well.
I also noticed that my AC/Heat controls wouldnt respond either. Any clue as to what it might be.
I have a VW Tiguan w/ auto lights. I was just wondering if there is a way to have the fog lights turn on with the auto lights function.
View 1 RepliesI recently have been running into some problems with my 03 jetta 2.0. Last night as I was driving home my radio start to turn off followed by ABS, airbag and battery lights coming on and then lights on the dashboard were dimming followed by headlights going out for a few secs then returning on but dim. I stopped in my drive way to open door and when I tried to press the accelerator, my car completely died.
Over the past 2 weeks or so I have had to change the fuel pump and the alternator because i thought that was the problem. I noticed when i first had problems the fuel pump wasn't charging so i changed that. then days later my car started to completely die when I tried to start it(not turning over, no lights no nothing). i tried a new battery it would still die. So I installed a new alternator. My car worked fine for about a week-week and a half before last night.
I found out last night that all 3 of my brake lights are out. However, my tail lights work, and my turn-signals work. So obviously its not a big wiring deal. I was looking for the brake switch but i don't know where its at because i looked underneath. What fuse is the brake lights cause my manual doesn't have it listed. I drive a 04 Elantra GLS.

View 1 RepliesI've got a 2005 Honda CRV that I love everything about except one thing that really annoys and scares me.
The headlights and instrument lights "twinkle" or shimmer. Like they pulsate in intensity bright and dim 2- 4 times per second.
I've read threads in some forums and have heard of many other people experiencing the same problem but no solid solutions.
I've heard, low battery, bad battery connection, loose ground somewhere, loose alternator belt or faulty alternator, short in the wiring harness, or replace the dashboard computer.
I've checked many of these things but to no avail.
2000 Jetta GLS, 2.0, Standard Trans............ Need to solve either of these issues??? I am newer to the VW family and unfamiliar with their designs/technology.

Since my first post the jetta has come a long way. still has a longer way to go.
I don't know what is this.. Before 30 mins everything worked fine, I installed a new LED panel to the interior light centre and happened this!
The dome lights doesn't work with any door. Can be the relay?
My car not starting at times. the issue goes like this i'll start it up drive it to where i need to go park it do what i need to do come back out to the car and it wont start there;s no clicking from the starter or anything but all my dash lights and electronics work and after trying to start the car for about 15-20 min it'll start up no problem. i went and had the battery and starter tested and they said it was fine. all i can think of is that its the ignition switch but i don't wanna go out and spend close to 100 bucks to replace this if its not the problem.
View 24 RepliesSo when I have the car running and I go to get back into the car, the dome lights do 1 of 3 things when I open the door. They either come on like normal, come on for a second and turn off, or don't turn on at all. I read something about a bad door lock module but it seemed like that was for earlier MK4s. I have an 03 jetta.
View 3 RepliesI have an 02 GTI w/ 1.8t and 5spd. I was in the drive through and all of the sudden the ABS, ASR, and seatbelt lights came on and the battery light is randomly blinking. I got home turned the car off and went to restart it and when I turn the key nothing happens. I should also mention I recently have 2 cels for p0171 lean condition and bank 1&3 misfires that developed after I replaced a bad injector. Where do I even start?

View 5 RepliesI just bought a new Prius V 5 for the wife yesterday and I have a few questions on the whole lighting system.I set here lights today to AUTO with the Fog/Driving Lights to the ON position. We the car was started and she drove off, the Day Time running lights were not on. Will the DRL not work with the FOG lights on? Am I missing something?
View 19 RepliesFor some reason my headlights and fog lights dont work as well as the turn signals, however the marker lights and 4ways do. The ac and fan also dont work. This all happened at once yesterday. I checked the fuses and they are fine. They must not be getting any power.
