Just wondering if it's possible to have the driving lights/fogs to turn on with the headlights when the switch is in AUTO? We prefer to just leave the switch in AUTO mode, but it defeats the purpose of even having the front driving lights as they are never used.
View 3 RepliesI recently purchased an 05 prius pack 4, it has an Auto mode on the headlight switch that does not work. as in the headlights do not turn on in pitch black night... From the searches I have done it appears that the car should not have auto headlights and yet it has the switch... I dont think its canadian because it does not have DRLs... if some models DO have auto headlights then what would cause them to not work.

But when i turn the knob off the auto headlights turn on. Any insight on this? when i first got the car everything was working fine. It only started to happen after I replaced the radiator.

I have to start using the switch to turn on the lights manually. I did not check during the day, but I also think that my daylight running lights are not working either? Does that have a fuse or something? What can I check?

View 14 RepliesI am having this weird issue that started from what I believe this weekend. I was doing 70mph and it was snowing. Not always but something like maybe 1 out of 5 times when I activated the washer fluid motor my headlights would turn off for like 1-2 seconds. Super scary when you are driving in the pitch dark on a highway.
View 8 RepliesSo I have MFD display errors for "main beam not working" on both sides but both of my headlights, lows and highs both work fine. this has been like this for a few months now. I can clear the codes with my VAGCOM and after a day or two they come right back. I do have LED license plate lights but for at least a year i only got the error code on startup for the plate lights but never headlights. A little confused as to what is tripping the headlight codes

Of course you can select Eco, or Power mode manually, but when it does this automatically, after the EV battery charge is used up, it keeps showing the Eco icon being lite not HV.
View 1 RepliesI recently acquired a 2006 V-8 and am enjoying it greatly. It will be quite a while before I learn all the things this terrific automobile can do. One apparent disappointment, however, is that it seems that the headlights (except for daylight) do not turn off automatically after the ignition is turned off. In other words if I absent-minded fail to notice the reminder "dinging" I could be out of luck. Is this correct? It seems odd to me given that by 2006 many sub-premium cars had auto-turnoff.

Couldn't find a section in the manual, but wondered if there was any undocumented tweak I could perform to get the lights to come on sooner so I can leave in in auto mode and not worry about it.
I finally got my hands on tech stream cable and software and turned off DRL today. I also adjusted light sensitivity setting from normal to light 2. What i was trying to accomplish is to have faster respond of headlights coming on Auto and turning off quickly once it become light again if for example I am going through a tunnel.
I was in the mall today and headlights came on when i enter the garage. When i was leaving it was still light outside and yet even after 1 minute being outside of the cover garage the headlight would not turn off. I finally put it on DRL off and then back on auto and headlight stayed off.
Did i change the wrong setting? Is the result of me putting on light 2 means that while it will come on quicker in dark situation it will take longer to turn off?
Just got a 2014 Prius Three. All my precious cars (non-Prius) had an automatic on headlight system, noticed the Prius doesn't. Can I just replace the turn signal lever with one that has the 'auto' feature? Could it possibly be that simple?

It seems like the climate control in auto mode go off of the outside temp, if hot outside blow cold inside and vice versa. What is the point to auto AC if I manually have to set the temp?
View 6 RepliesI have been noticing over the past couple of weeks that my headlights are on in the middle of the day. It is bright outside and the headlights are on. I have the switch in the Auto setting and have turned the DRL's off and enabled the rain sensor. Could it be the light/rain sensor?? Or maybe the light switch??
2013 Passat TDI SEL
1998 Passat 1.8t B5 sedan. OEM fog lights up front. No rear fog lights.
I recently upgraded to a "Euro" light switch to get more flexibility with my lights. Put tape on the TFL pin to disable DRLs in OFF Mode. Put tape on the 56d pin to disable DRLs in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode. Completely successful -- no DRLs, just as taping the TFL pin on the original light switch accomplished long ago.
BEFORE I did any taping this time, I installed the Euro switch AS IS and tested all of its modes and physical positions:
(1) OFF: No fog light position available (switch knob will not pull out). As expected and okay.
(2) FULL ON Fog lights come on (but who the hell can see them?!?) when switch knob is pulled out one stop into the fog light position -- and the little front fog symbol on the switch lights up. Again, expected and just fine.
(3) CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights): The fog lights position is physically available by pulling the switch knob out one stop... BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON (regardless of ignition switch position, emergency hand brake position, etc., etc.) And the little fog light symbol on the switch does not light up. (Not surprisingly, pulling the knob further out to the REAR fog light position does nothing either.)
THIS IS NOT GOOD - since with a Euroswitch one ought to be able to manually select and de-select the fog lights while in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode!
How to make my FRONT FOG LIGHTS available in Euroswitch CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode...?
