This is for a 2003 GTI, 89,00 miles. Every time I try to use the windshield cleaner the fuse blows for the windshield wipers. I have tried to put in a 25 amp fuse and it worked for a while but still blew. The windshield wiper motor has been replaced.

View 1 RepliesSo I have a 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg, the wipers work fine, but when I switch them off they stop in the middle of the windshield. Also when I use the spray, the fuse blows every time.

View 2 Replies2 days ago I was driving to a friends house and it started to rain. I put on my wipers and after 5 minutes they stopped working. I pulled over and checked the fuse and it was burnt out. I had a spare 25A fuse and replaced it on the spot. I first check the horn since it's the same fuse connection. The horn worked ok then I went on with the wiper...the second I put on the wipers the fuse blew again not even letting the wiper make one cycle.
Could it be the wiper motors? What should I do other then bring it in. I want to do it myself.
Weird issue on my MK4 GTI. So it started out just as the rear windshield sprayer would work intermittently. Then the same happened to the front one. Then sometimes the rear windshield wiper would just come on by itself when hitting bumps on the highway. Now sometimes the front windshield wipers won't work, the rear doesn't work at all, and neither sprayers work.
So, where's best to start? I figured maybe the toggle switch is worn out. I haven't looked to see how hard it is to get out/test. I assume there's some linkage or wires I can get to once I remove the trim under the steering wheel to do a simple continuity test and see if the switch is working. Or would relays cause this? I wouldn't think that many relays could fail this quickly while running at normal voltages...
At times my windshield wipers stall halfway up my windshield or move really slowly. Other times absolutely fine, I already checked both battery terminals and niether were the issue. What's the best way to get to the wiper motor to check the connections. Or does it sound like a ground strap issue elsewhere on the car.
View 5 RepliesI have a 2004 hyundai sante fe. None of my windshield washer fluid is spraying on my windows, front or back. I think the fuse to the windshield fluid might be broken so I opened up the fuse box but I can't find a fuse that says it's for the fluid.
There was one that said, I think, "Windshield" but it was a big gray little box it doesn't look like the rest of the fuses. I tried to pull on it but it wouldn't really budge and I didn't want to keep trying because I don't know what it is.
My auto windshield wiper function has become real sensitive...When driving in the lightest rain or even mist, my wipers start intermittently, then go faster and faster until they are going steadily, and in medium-light rain, often go to high speed. They never did this in the past, this has recently started. I turn them off, then back on and the process repeats. The auto wiper was always wonderful in the past, but not now.
Is there some kind of adjustment for this problem? Is my windshield sensor going bad?
I'm having some sort of electrical malfunction on the back of my Mk4 Gti. The right rear tail light, license plate light and back windshield wiper doesn't work. I replaced the bulbs several times and they keep blowing.
View 2 RepliesI am having problems with ALL my driver door electronics, except the fuel door. my passenger side works fine, sunroof works fine. Ive removed the door panel to look for obvious problems, like broken wires.. Fuses are good, looking for a good place to start. Power winder/locks.
Little update, i reset my battery and they worked, waited like twenty minutes, nothing works again.. why would i have to reset the battery every time for the windows to work?
I had the windshield wiper control replaced on my 91 F150 today and found out that the genius who did the repair (and, I might add, broke the wiper control in the first place) forgot to reconnect the dash lights. This was this particular garage's last chance. Everything else works -- idiot lights, hi-beam indicator, running lights, taillamps, hi-beams -- everything BUT the dash lights, so I know it's not the fuse.
View 4 RepliesMy daughter has a 2005 VW GTI which has had a series of bizarre electrical problems. The latest was with the windshield wipers. Sometimes they work properly. Often, when the weather gets damp, they go on by themselves. (This is not a feature - they don't automatically go on when it rains, it might just be humid.) Sometimes, turning the front wipers off will turn the back wipers on. Turning the back wipers on will turn the front wipers off. The other day, she needed to drive 40 miles to work. It was not raining at the time, but it was threatening.
The only way to turn the front wipers off, was to turn the back wiper on. The only way we could get both wipers off at the same time, was to remove the fuse for the back wiper and turn the back wiper on. In the event of rain, she could then turn the back wiper off to make the front wipers go on. We have brought the car to the dealer several times. They replaced the relay twice. They swear they have checked the entire system and can find nothing wrong. The last time it happened, we showed them that it was impossible to turn the wipers off. They have seen the problem, but they still can't fix it.
Windshield wipers, and washer were suddenly not working the other day, so I discovered a blown fuse. Put a new one in, and it immediately blew again. So there is definitely something grounding out, and I am suspecting the wiper motor itself because so far I have not been able to find any wires shorting out, but before I go to the trouble of pulling the motor out and testing it, or replacing it.
Truck is a 2002 F350CC 7.3 TD. Wipers were working fine the other day before I pressure washed it, which is why I really suspect the wiper motor itself.
I posted earlier about the tranny in my 01 Ex v10 having a transmission problem. The show looked at it and found the O2 sensor had shorted out and in some way sending the truck in to limp home causing the tranny fuse to blow????
Any way they fixed it or so they said and I drove it for a few hours and it did fine. The next morning I drove it and it blew the fuse. (under hood box I belive #19) I took it back to the shop and they beat and banged on it....got it wet etc. and can not get it to do it again. I know whe have an electrical issue but what all runs off of the fuse that controlls the tranny?
Is there any online wiring diagrams of excursions or superduty drive trains? Where all to look for the problem?
What is wrong with my 2006 VW Jetta. The windshield wipers quit working all of a sudden. I stopped to get gas and turned off the wipers( it was raining), got gas and went to turn on the wipers, they are not working. I don't even hear the motor run. When I was trying to research online, one of the solutions I came across was spraying WD-40 on the motor to dry up the water and try to fix the problem.here are my questions. 1. does this work? 2. do I need a new motor? 3. If I decide to spray WD-40, do I need to take the wiper arms and the plastic guard on the front to access the motor or can I spray through the grill on the plastic cover?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2003 Golf GTI VR6. Over probably a year, my rear wiper began working only intermittently. Eventually it stopped working at all. Based on lotsa googling, here's the troubleshooting I've done so far to investigate:
1. Pushed the stalk forward, listened for relay *tick* sound. I didn't hear the tick. Wiper doesn't move.
2. Went outside the car and didn't hear any sounds coming from the wiper motor.
3. Pushed stalk all the way forward, rear wiper washer was activated and works fine. Wiper doesn't move.
4. Checked wiper fuses. No indication of blown fuse.
5. Pulled the relay and inspected. No burn marks or loose wires.
6. Ran voltage through the relay and relay opens and closes without issue.
From what I've read, the fact that the relay appears to work fine in tests but doesn't work in the car suggests either the stalk or a wiring harness failure. I've also read washer fluid can leak in to the motor and cause it to stop working, but that seemed like a less likely cause. What do you all think?
1) no cool air at all from AC
2) low pressure side shows 0 even after adding some refrigerant
3) ac compressor engages. I can hear a slight load on the motor when I push the ac button
4) when pressing the ac button the fans don't automatically come on. They should come on right
Found that OEM new wipers were not completely squeegee-ing the windshield. i.e. getting small patches of wet/unwiped areas. Seems like it's skimming some areas instead of actually wiping.

View 11 RepliesUpon installing LED interior lights in the dome lighting in my 2003 Jetta GL 5 Speed, my power door locks, power windows, interior lighting, and license plates lights no longer work. I looked at fuse 14 (the fuse associated with interior lighting) and it was not blown. I also tried replacing the LED lights with the lights I had removed while putting in the LEDs, and everything still does not work. Another thing to note is that during installation, the 3 lights in between the drive and passenger seats in the front worked when LEDs were inserted into them. It was not until I replaced the passenger side rear light with an LED that all of these malfunctions started to occur.
