2005 Jetta. The car makes a loud deep humming noise once I hit about 75mph, and goes away once I get to about 82 or so. I've taken it out of gear and matched the rpm I get at those speeds, and I don't hear the noise at all. It's only when I'm in gear. What this could be?

View 2 RepliesCar was overheating for a long time. Went to start it and wouldn't start. Its been sitting for a while so I replaced the battery and now when the battery is connected its making a loud humming noise. And still no start. It turns over and sounds like its trying to start just won't start.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2005 Hyundai Elantra that makes a RRrrrRRRrRRR noise when turning corners - only to the right. It's not a screeching or scraping noise... more of a loud whirring or humming. One note- back left tire was removed and repaired shortly before this began - could that relate?

View 6 Replies1999 ford expedition 5.4L ....I have been hearing a loudish (I can hear it in the cab) humming noise coming from the engine bay. I don't hear it when the truck is cold (1 to 5 minutes after starting), seems to get louder at it its peak (the more I drive). When i open the hood, the humming is coming from the intake. I am a pretty handy guy, just at my witts end right now....not sure, but I was thinking brake booster?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2006 lexus es 330 that just turned over 90,000 miles. My dad and I have done the regular maintenance on it so far but this weekend after a 3 hour drive, I turned the car back on and a loud whirring/humming/whining noise was coming from the engine. It gets slightly louder with acceleration, but I can barely hear it once I've picked up speed (but it's still there.) It still happens when I am in neutral. It sounds like it is coming from the passenger side of the engine. Close to the power steering pump area, but the power steering fluid is full (although it is a very dark/black color and has a slight smell...not sure if this is normal.) I'm not having any trouble or hesitation while steering. The rack is operating smoothly and it is not leaking. I plan on taking it into the shop but wanted to go in educated.

Drove it this am, did it to me too while idling in D with foot on brake... humms for about 1 min, and then stalls the engine... If I rev the engine, was still doing it... but came and went when I was driving then till I got her home...
I know there is a black plastic cap that makes a similar noise but not as loud, this seems like something else... and the fact it stalled the truck is bothersome... it started up then fine, but still. The only thing that is the same as when wife had it, is that both of these days are like under 10 degrees outside... So, me thinks MAP? or something else that doesn't like these REALLY cold temps? or??
I have a 2005 mk4 Gli 1.8T with 69,000 miles. This ticking sound that I hear from the inside of my car is coming from the right side of the engine bay. It starts during idle. It starts ticking and gets a little faster and then stops for a few seconds then begins again. It fully stops while driving. I changed tensioner, belt, serpentine belt, water pump, and oil change with mobile 1 synthetic 0w-40.

In my searching I feel somewhat confident this is caused by a cheap right axle replacement. I also went under and found on the left axle markings that indicate its is oem VW and I was unable to find these on the right side. anyway I have found this: [URL]....
It says it is a hollow axle right there and it is 170 less than the cheapest oem one I have found. would this workout?
My aux water pump was acting up and started leaking a year or two ago. I replaced it and it seemed to be doing fine. Recently it has started buzzing very loudly right when I turn the car off and keeps buzzing loudly for a few minutes (5-10) after the car is shut down. I know that is when it is supposed to be running, but why would it be so loud? Is it being over-heated or something?

The noise does get louder when the rpm's increase. So wondering if had the tensioner pulley fail, if there were any noises associated with it prior to it failing?
I had the car checked for an odd noise that I've been noticing once the engine is warm. Almost like a humming or low pitch squealing. It's noticeable at idle and low speed from inside and outside the car. Very annoying considering the thing is a month old. Any way, I spent nearly 4 hours waiting and they came up with no solutions. Not a clue, a guess, nothing. The car is still driving normally and i needed it for tomorrow so I didn't keep it over as they suggested. The service manager said he hasn't seen anything like it, but also admitted he knew very little about the '10s. great.
View 10 RepliesWhen I am done accelerating and let off the gas and just cruise, i am getting a decently loud noise, enough so that you want to keep your foot on the accelerator a bit because under acceleration there is no noise. No noise at idle either. It's like downshifting to a lower gear at a higher rpm and how the engine noise is loud...but I think it's the tranny or something.
My mechanic (who is amazing) thinks it is the dual mass flywheel.
It is a 2004.5 GLI 6spd with 122,000 miles on the original clutch.
My car has started making this loud whistling noise. It only happens when right after starting it when it's sat for a few hours and fades out within 30 seconds but has lasted for a couple minutes before. It drives fine but I know the sound isn't normal. Here's a video of the noise: [URL] ....

View 8 RepliesI recently found out when I open the door to my mk4 jetta it starts to make this loud ticking noise. It happen when I open only three doors the two front and the rear passenger. I have no clue what it is i even asked my mechanic who has been working on volkswagens for years and he said hes never heard anything like it.
View 1 RepliesB6 manual, after 20k miles with Dunlop Sport Maxx 235-40-18 tires (still pleny of tread left, even on fronts) a moderately loud humming noise has developed, loudest at 35 mph but even heard at 10mph, with an irritating resonance of subwoofer-type. Noise changes somewhat with road surface, but not much. Not related to engine speed, gearbox, or radio. My next step will be to swap wheels.
For now, any thoughts as to the cause?
I have an 05 jetta 2.0 and I had a loud whine on passenger side of engine. I removed serpentine belt and ran engine briefly and noise was still there. Figured it was water pump or tensioner. and when I was changing timing belt, tension, and water pump I found it was the timing belt itself that was whining. It was OEM original belt with 140,000 miles on it. The belt was in very good shape no tears just used looking. Now engine is very quiet.
View 1 RepliesI am hearing this buzzing sound in my trunk its really loud for ex: those annoying sounds people played as kids that people over "18" cant hear...back to the point its by my rear left tail light inside that area where all the wiring is also kinda hear it where the spare tire is all my lights work I unplugged the light and it still made the sound! It only does it when the car is running. Car is stock aside that it has no radio and the cd changer in the area that noise is coming from idk if its because a few wires that connect to the cd changer or what ever it is are unplugged but its coming from that area of the car its really high pitch and annoying.

I have a 01 VR6, When I put my air circulation (warm or cold, doesn't matter) to 1 or 2 on vent control, its fine. However, when i put it to 3 or 4, there is a LOUD kind of "whirring" type air noise that comes from the Passenger Glove Box area. I also feel a little bit of the vibration on the brake pad. Not sure what this is?....
